US Men's National Team (6 Viewers)

I know we can’t get into the politics of the insanity but are you guys who are hoping to get WC tickets worried about the constant threats that some games are going to be moved from certain cities?
Infantino clearing the way for the powers that be to switch cities ended any chance that I'll try to get tickets to this thing until like two days before kickoff. Maybe they do move some games and utterly crush the secondary market or something, but barring that... no way.

I doubt this ever happens, but interesting...

"A committee working on behalf of U.S. Soccer has recommended that men's college soccer switch to a season that stretches across the full academic year beginning fall 2026.

The recommendation comes after U.S. Soccer tasked the 17-person "NexGen College Soccer Committee" with finding solutions to evolve college soccer to, among other things, better prepare players to turn professional and compete at the international level.

The committee recommended that more time is needed to evaluate the best future construct of women's college soccer, although the result could be the same recommendation as the men's game. Regardless of how the college game evolves, the committee said in its report, which was released on Thursday, that it "believes strongly that any of these [four proposed] options are far superior to the status quo."

Any changes, which still need clear the major hurdle of NCAA approval, would overhaul a college soccer system that has historically served as a development pathway for American pro players -- especially women -- but has not evolved with the modern professional game. Longstanding issues with college soccer include a truncated season played entirely in the fall, which puts heavy demand on athletes during that time and leaves them largely without competition for most of the year.

"The recommendations were designed to be able to deliver a better student athlete experience, to be able to provide financial stability, and to provide player development opportunities -- which are the three things that everyone in college sports said they wanted," U.S. Soccer CEO and secretary general JT Batson told ESPN. "We're optimistic for this to be able to move at pace."

Honestly I don't see how or the need.

Training starts in August and games run late August thru the end of October. Most weeks feature 2 games. Then you moved to conference tournaments and the championship tourney. For the better teams they are playing into winter break. Practice fires up in February and most teams have 4 games in March/April while some teams like UNC have 6 game days. That leaves about a month and they players immediately head to the summer minor league team in May and play into July.

The only way this works is if you kill the conference and national championship tournies. Seems kind of extreme to accomodate 30-50 players that might go pro. I suspect at least 80% of the college players have zero interest in more soccer and most of those love the idea of chasing a spot in the college cup via automatic bid of winning their conference. The reality is that most of these kids are in school for an education.

I'm totally the guy with the bulletin board and strings on this, but I honestly think that's a threat aimed more at FIFA than "liberal" cities. There are a lot of people with a lot of money who would be very well served by a USMNT semi-final run at home giving a second major bump to MLS. None of those people are strangers to the current administration. And while 1978 was a long time ago, the bribery scandals aren't that long ago.

Maybe nothing happens, but I do think Trump is swinging his **** at Infantino here. I have no doubt there is political value in keeping his lawless cities stuff going for Trump, but I think that's secondary. Now excuse me, I have to go post this article about how extra-terrestrials are now producing Ben & Jerry's.

I feel like I'm just going to book a cancelable hotel in Atlanta and see how things look closer to the matches. This thing could be a mess.

I saw on Reddit that Milan fear a "serious" issue with CP. I only saw the headline, and I'm not sure that's even after he's been evaluated. But I'm going to say we can't have nice things anyway.
No one knows for sure yet but reports I am reading range from 2 weeks to a month out, the latter of which means he likely won't be available for the November friendlies.
I saw those headlines too....ime reading rhose sites, im taking them with a grain of salt the day after the match and injury, considering he may not even be back in Italy for an evaluation. The ones i saw referenced his ankle injury, and Poch mentioned hamstring.
Looks like you were right. All the reports were BS.

Pulisic missed his flight back to Milan (long delay) and is still in the US and no one from Milan has even looked at him yet.

Both Cavan and Mathis have been released for the U17 World Cup and are on the US roster.

All the big names are on the roster including: Sullivan, Albert, Hall, Berchimas, Cupps, Carrizo, Terry, Tsakiris (Nico’s little brother), Johnson.

Now let’s see if they are not as dysfunctional as reports have said they are.

Damn..thats a lot of high quality guys.

Still frustrated about the u20s. They lacked the star power, but looked capable/likely of winning the whole thing relative to the other teams i watched (did not watch ARG).

From a 5000 foot view, it sounds like the U17’s are the exact opposite. Lots of star power but struggle as a team.

In a way, it is more important for the senior nats that a few prospects pop on a disappointing youth team, instead of a youth team playing well but no one standing out.

Rokas Pukštas to @GolazoAmerica on the possibility of playing for Lithuania:

"Obviously, being a dual national, you get calls from Lithuania. I made it clear, I made it direct that I’m here to play for USA, that’s where my heart is. So, they know where my heart is, and that’s what I tell them."
