I booked a suite at the Signature through airbnb. $150/night for three nights. That's the best part about the planning so far, because flights are just getting more and more expensive...My wife and I stayed at the MGM Signature for several nights two weekends ago. Surprisingly, the rates were cheaper than the MGM Grand. We were very impressed with the Signature. It was really clean, seemingly new with a large room, huge bathroom and whirlpool. It's set back off of the strip a little bit, behind the MGM Grand. You get to the strip by walking through a skyway to the MGM Grand, which is great for us as we like the walk. Another nice thing was it was very quiet. You don't have early 20-somethings running the halls every night like a lot of other hotels. Most of the people at this place were families and businessmen/women.
I've been kicking the tires on the Signsture but haven't quite gotten a feel on it. My wife and I have historically stayed for free in a Caesars property since the closest casinos to us are Caesars-owned. We have virtually no action with them now though because we have young kids. Since free is getting tougher for us to get at the higher-end CET properties, we've been staying other places the last few trips. My wife and I stayed at the MGM Signature for several nights two weekends ago. Any insight you could give on the Signature would be greatly appreciated. Pools, access to Strip, amenities, vibe, etc. Thank you in advance.
Yep. It's decent pizza. Certainly nothing to seek out for the quality.anybody ever been to the hidden pizza place at cosmo? Sounds pretty cool.I wouldn't call it awesome pizza, but it does the job. Drunken clubgoers ensure there's usually a line.
Great info. Thank you very much. Prices seem to be pretty reasonable which has worried me a bit even though it appears reasonably nice from my online research. We tend to avoid spending much for our rooms whenever it's just the 2 of us, especially in Vegas. The wife has a week-long seminar out there this fall so we'll probably be in the room and at the property a little more frequently than is our norm.Sure thing. There are three towers - we stayed in the third (furthest out). It's gated from the street so cabs/limos/cars have to check in to even get to the front lobby. They are all connected at the lobby level by a large hallway. A good chunk of this hallway have people movers like you see in airports, which makes for a decently quick trip. If you keep going past tower 1, it dumps you off right into the MGM grand food court area (where CSI, restaurants, stores, etc are). You then just cut through the MGM Grand to get to the strip.I've been kicking the tires on the Signsture but haven't quite gotten a feel on it. Each tower has its own medium sized pool with big jaccuzzi. Lots of chairs and cabanas to be had. Being off-season, I think you can just go out and comandeer a cabana if you want; many were empty. There is a Starbucks in the lobby of either Tower 1 or 2 I can't recall. There is a small deli style restaurant in Tower 3 which we didn't eat at.
The room was decently large and the bathroom consisted of a seperate little room with a door with the toilet. The remainder of the bathroom had a dual vanity, with very clean marble floors and walls. The shower was large and fully enclosed in glass which is nice for pressing your junk against if the wife happens to wander in. There was a big hot tub built for 2+ people as well.
I've got a thing about dirty or old hotel rooms. I just can't stand it and get the heebie jeebies if I even have to walk on an older or dirty carpet. The same with the comforter, if it looks old or worn I just can't. friggin. stand. it. Even at some nicer placed we've stayed over the years, I still get put off a bit at first and have to warm up to the room. I didn't get that feeling here at all. From the get-go, I was 100% comfortable as it was cleaner than my house. There was a small fridge, wet bar and microwave. We used it for beer and water storage.
It's cheap for the same reason Trump is cheap....(most) people like having the casino right downstairs. You won't be disappointed if that doesn't bother you. I like the casino right downstairs, but it's no longer that big a deal to me as I've gotten older. And I've priced the suites primarily. The full kitchen would be nice. The walk to MGM casino isn't that bad. Most of the time you're doing that walk in the morning on the way out or the early morning on the way back in, at which point you'll appreciate passing all the food/coffee options anyway.I like the casino right downstairs, but it's no longer that big a deal to me as I've gotten older. Ha! I'm pretty sure I tore a hole in the fabric of space-time on one of my earlier trips and walked past myself heading out as I was stumbling back to my room.Bob Sacamano said:The walk to MGM casino isn't that bad. I have this card. Just got it for the signup bonus and for spending when we are in vegas. No annual fee.Anyone ever use the total rewards credit card for Caesars? Just got one today as now my group wants to stay at planet hollywood
TI has always been an absolutely fantastic value in my book. The location is fantastic. The Blackjack tables still pay 3/2 on blackjack. The buffet is nice.Heading out on February 28 for three nights. Had a reservation at NYNY, but just canceled it in favor of TI. The rate was 53/nt through hotwire. Knew we were getting TI. It isn't my favorite, but the rooms are fine and I love the location. Wasnt finding the greatest rates so I was pretty happy. Anybody booking through hotwire there is a deal where you get 30bucks off 4 star hotels, but you have to follow a link through one of the coupon sites. When I just go to hotwire it does not reflect the 30bucks. If I go through retailmenot, it does.
Yep, TI is a little underrated. Hard to think of anything awesome about it, but more importantly hard to think of anything bad about it. Great location, decent pool. It always takes me a day or so to get orientated in that hotel for some reason - I always go out the wrong door to get to the stripTI has always been an absolutely fantastic value in my book. Walgreens is super close by for picking up some of your own booze.
The vibe in there is a bit stale... but if you're in Vegas to do Vegas stuff and not spend that much time in your room and are looking for a deal it's super.
On my trips to Vegas sans wife Flamingo's has always been a favorite of mine too. Just a fun place. Depending on your spin it's either "unpretentious" or "low brow", but either way it's relaxed. I have a good friend who slings drinks at Margaritaville too, which always helps. Used to have the best fun casino in the planet right next door (O'Shea's), but CET ruined that. For a budget stay I've become a fan of Flamingo. Went there because the guys I was meeting were staying there and we ended up spending most of our casino and eating time on property.
The pool was definitely a party pool and kind of trashy but in a fun way. Talent very average but also very social.
i'd say the pool is actually kind of lame. If it were pool season i'd probably pony up for a nicer hotel with a better pool and thus hotter chicks to stare a hole through.Yep, TI is a little underrated. Not gonna help you @ CET in my experience. They are very formulaic in their approach now. Average wager, wagers per hour, hours played, and theo (casino's theoretical earnings on your play) are what matter to those guys.So I was given some interesting advice on how to work the comp's at a place like Cesear's. Basically show up and take out a $5,000 marker (or whatever you qualify for) and then put that money aside and not even mess with it. Gamble with your regular roll and wait roughly 20 days to pay it back since you are give 30 days. This guy says he's been doing this everytime he goes, I'm still a little skepitical but I may try this next time I go out.
Exactly. They track your buy's, bet's etc. Let's say you take out a 10K marker and gamble and only bet 2-3K of it your entire trip....they know all of this. Not gonna help you @ CET in my experience. Trop is a ####hole. Crappy rooms, overpriced, miniature gambling floor, subpar restaurants and entertainment. I was there last September. You couldn't pay me to stay there. How about The Tropicana?I agree with Icon. The Excalibur isn't horrible if you have young kids like you do, but it's not the nicest hotel on the strip. NY NY is ok, but no poker room. I think Mandalay bay is your best bet.IMO I wouldnt stay at Luxor/Excalibur/Desert Rose... personally.
Back in the good ole days you could really get taken care of if you were good to the dealers, etc. I play a lot of craps -- straight pass/come with odds. Theo on that sucks for the house (1.41% on the come/pass, 0% on the odds), but I was always well taken care of since I take care of the boys, don't bet late, etc. Nowadays grinders who are subjectively good players to the staff don't get much love from CET.Exactly. Golden Nugget is the nicest hotel downtown, and it isn't close, really. Several of the older properties are renovated and are a bit nicer now, but GN has always been the classy joint down there. Definitely stay in the Rush Tower if you are staying there though. Pool area is cool; different vibe downtown but a good change of pace.We are going for two nights the second week of March Madness. We alwasy go downtown for one of the nights, so this year we are thinking of staying at the Golden Nugget, just to switch things up. Rooms are pretty cheap, and their new tower looks kind of cool. Now, since I'm usually a Venetian guy, I fully understand that this is a whole different animal, but it seems like it might be fun.
Has anyone stayed at the GN before? Any thoughts?

eta--Jeez, the Luxor is your other options? That might be my only other least favorite hotel in Vegas. Its dark, musty and dirty. Hated the atmosphere.
Dude, if I was taking my kids, I'd be looking at something like the Venetian.

The "D Suite" rooms are great - nice two room suites with great bar area. As nice as the Rush Tower at the Nugget is, for the $, I prefer the D Suite. It's pretty nice for downtown.I stayed at the D a couple weekends ago and that was actually pretty good. Rooms have been recently renovated. We are going for two nights the second week of March Madness. We alwasy go downtown for one of the nights, so this year we are thinking of staying at the Golden Nugget, just to switch
things up. Rooms are pretty cheap, and their new tower looks kind of cool. Now, since I'm usually a Venetian guy, I fully understand that this is a whole different animal, but it seems like
it might be fun.

I think I've said this in here at least 3 times now but IMO the best nicer casino for kids is Mandalay. Also why it is not the best choice if you are going to Vegas with your woman - kids everywhere.Dude, if I was taking my kids, I'd be looking at something like the Venetian.
You are weirdly hung up on this.maybe just make a fat donation to Sheldon Adelson while you're at it.Dude, if I was taking my kids, I'd be looking at something like the Venetian.

http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2015/02/sheldon-adelson-was-online-gambling-he-was-against-itCasino magnate and conservative megadonor Sheldon Adelson has been on a full-scale crusade against internet gambling. An advocacy group he launched and helps to bankroll is currently at the vanguard of a lobbying effort to pass a federal ban on online wagering. The billionaire, who says he'll spend "whatever it takes" to support the ban, claims he opposes internet gambling on "moral" grounds, because it preys on the most vulnerable members of society. What he doesn't say is that for years his company, Las Vegas Sands Corp., tested the waters on getting into this business for itself.
From what I gather black chip blackjack doesn't even move the needle for big comps anymore. They might give you a suite upgrade or something at a strip hotel. Comps are very tight.
Hating him for any reason is not weird. How often you post it here seems mildly obsessive.I enjoy internet gambling, so I hate him. Not sure why that's weird.

Yep. Many years ago I qualified for diamond status on one trip by accident. Nothing but $1/$3 hold 'em, $10 craps, and $10-15 BJ. Wasn't even trying to work the comps, just gambling with the boys. From what I gather black chip blackjack doesn't even move the needle for big comps anymore. Talking 6 hours a day of gambling deep stacks with black chips just to get to the first real level.
sorry if I struck a nerve. Carry on with your hate.Venetian is nice, but also owned by Sheldon Adelson. The Venetian would be my choice. I've stayed at most of the hotels on this list, and the Venetian is the best one. The standard room is great. The poker room is awesome. And the restaurants are top notch - I've had awesome meals at Bouchon and Delmonico's. And the Grand Lux Cafe is open 24 hours and has some pretty darn good breakfast.February rates should be pretty good so it's worth staying at a nice place like the Venetian.
You posted about him in January in GMTAN when I was trying to figure out where to stay, and I was glad you did. I'd totally overlooked that he owned the Venetian and didn't want to stay there as a result. I say keep it up.one post on August 1st

I also enjoyed Treasure Island when I stayed there in January. Room was nice and clean. Casino was fine. Location is the best thing about it as you can gamble at the Venetian, Palazzo and Wynn without paying the higher room rates.Loved the location for treasure island. I think what I liked the most about it was ease of access for the car. I despise having to drive on the strip and I hate when you have to drive up and around 7 floors to get a spot. Treasure island isn't really a target destination for people to drive to and park at so there was always parking easily available on floor three which was really the main floor and first one you enter on. It was really easy to get in and out of to head around town too, no drunk pedestrians to deal with.
Heading out again March 20th. I have never been there during NCAA tourney. Is it as crazy as I have heard? What time in the AM will they open the betting windows?
This is what i enjoyed about it. Sleep at an inexpensive place, use the facilities nearby for whatever else you wanted to.I also enjoyed Treasure Island when I stayed there in January. I'd rather stay at a little nicer place and go for the cheaper gambling spots. Not to say anything is wrong with TI... But if you've got the budget for gambling at Venetian, Palazzo, or Wynn (basically $25+ craps or blackjack) then what's an extra $150/night for a nicer room? This is what i enjoyed about it. Having said that I did all my gambling at TI because their blackjack was a $5 table that had 3/2 BJ.. that's rare for the strip
