Vernon Davis (1 Viewer)

VD definitely has the talent to be an elite TE but the thing that will hold him back is Alex Smith. Smith was terrible last year and as a VD owner I knew he wouldn't reach his potential with a bad QB. VD got most of his yards on his own after the catch like that long TD vs GB where he did all the work himself.

Vernon Davis dropped at least 2 TD passes from Smith last year. And considering how much time he missed, that right there is significant. Can't write those off to Smith.

If you are calling the same plays "drops" that I saw...both of those would have went down as "great" catches had he made them. Its not like either ball hit him in the numbers. The guys been working out with Smith almost every day this offseason. I'm not worried one bit.Once upon a time, there was a Niner rookie WR who everybody worried about because he had "the dropsies" as a rookie, too.....
