Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (1 Viewer)

but anyways, I had come into this topic to talk about something else but I just wanted to comment on the shaking thing.

Both in Madden and previous college football games my favorite part about them has been the offseason. I love the team building. I mean, playing the game can be fun, sure but offseason is the best part IMO. In college, I loved recruiting my team. I think in 2014 it was an all season thing.

One thing that I slightly disliked though, maybe more in madden than college, is the lack of injuries. Of course, I don't want real life injuries but in a video game it's just more realalistic and and extra challenge. They sorta blow in college since you can't replace a long injury, you already have to have the depth on your team but in Madden you can just go to the FA pool and sign a guy off the street. I remember in an older college game they had some random weekly thingamabob where you had to make decisions-like a players GPA would be low or maybe they got in some sort of trouble. I think alot of people disliked it since it was random but it felt very collegey to me.

I'm looking forward to playing it when it's not $70 but in the meantime I might dust off NCAA14

Yeah, I remember the discipline thing. And yes, it was random and had some bugs in it.

I remember 2 seasons in a row my starting QB (same guy both times) had some sort of major disciplinary problem right before my bowl game. (this was probably 5 or 6 years into my dynasty with a crappy program) The "suggested" punishment was like a 2 or 4 game suspension but since I only had 1 game left in the season, that was all i could suspend him for each time. (it literally wasn't even an option to do more). Because the game read that as me taking it light on him, it decreased my program reputation to the point where I was basically one more issue away from being put on probation.

So then I cut him during the off-season and won my first national title with his backup the following season.

So I was supposed to recruit before I advanced oops

Might need to restart. You guys making custom coaches or just using the ones that are already on the team?

Also I have a pretty sweet setup. Texas A&M scores a TD and when the cannon goes off in my rear surround and subs I legit thought someone fell upstairs :lmao: was not prepared

i made a custom coach. i also didnt start recruiting until mid season and screwed my team. i just put on auto recurtuing for the rest of season. when next season starts i will try again from beginning. no reason to restart imo

just won the championship.
epic title game. I was bama. Vs miami. they were winning all game. i scored late to tie and it went OT. got ball first and scored a fg. Felt for sure I was going to lose. Got an INT to seal the win. This game is so much fun

I haven't owned a gaming console since the Super NES, Sega Genesis, PS1 days. My 16 YO son has a Xbox One and a Switch, but he usually just plays Fortnite, RS6, and MineCraft with his friends. What's the consensus on the best widely used system now. I loved Super Mario Bros., Double Dribble, NBA Jams, Madden '95. Thinking about getting a new system. Suggestions?

If I get a PS5, would I be able to play games with my son?

A question from an old guy whose gaming skills have declined. Has anyone tried the new NCAA in "coaching mode"? I am curious about picking up the game for recruiting and building a program etc, but my joystick skills are nowhere near where they used to be. I enjoy playing on "coach mode" where I call the plays and let the computer control the players.

Does NCAA allow you to run CPU vs CPU, and just watch?

That's how I always played sports games. Team build, but then let the talent (and AI) decide who's the better squad.

Definitely getting the hang of NCAA. I still screw up options and not 100% how the passing meter works. On the road when they hide icons I'm lost lol.

Lost game 1. Pulled off 5 in a row. Started as ND, Ill eventually switch and take like San Jose st or someone.

Changed recruiting to Auto , was getting bored lol

Xbox dynasty. Anyone interested? Cheese played in the one we did 15 years ago. I'm cool with being blue bloods or small schools and rebuilding.

Relaxed atmosphere - try to complete 2-3 weeks in the game per actual week.

So I splurged and purchased an XBOX Series X and downloaded College FB 25. As I begin to load up I learn EA sports has banned my account and I can't get online. I knew my EA account was hacked a while ago as I got an email about it, but I simply changed my password and never thought about it after that (I haven't gamed in years).

Now I learn that whoever hacked me got the account banned, and I've spent hours trying to get unbanned. Crazy. EA customer support is a rumor at best.

Fwiw. The game has cross-platform for online capabilities. I don't know if that carries over the dynasty

As an Xbox household, one of the games that's been on my "to play" list forever is The Last of Us. During the Steam sale a week ago, I realized it was ported to PC in 2023. Initial PC reviews were terrible due to all sorts of graphics issues, but from what I can tell, patches have finally taken care of things. I went ahead and bought it for $40 - unfortunately it's now back to its regular $60. I'm only about 10 hours in, and I'm one of those players that goes slow and checks in all nooks, crannies, etc. so I am not super far into the story yet. Regardless, I'm really enjoying it so far and have run into zero PC issues.
Wonderful game - glad you're enjoying it. I platinumed this when it came out on PS3, and then re-platinumed the PS4 remaster. The online multiplayer was even good (no idea if that still exists).

Edit: That said, this game should be like $5 in 2024, not $60 lol. Then again, I did pay like $30 for Dark Souls 1 about a year ago so I get it.

I was under the impression cross platform was not for dynasty play, but if it is that’s great.

Is College Football 25 crossplay for Dynasty? College Football 25 players will enable crossplay, so PlayStation 5 users will be able to take on those with an Xbox Series X|S. But cross-platform play is only available in College Football Playoff, Ultimate Team and Play A Friend modes.

They absolutely need to change kicking in College Football 25. Its freaking impossible to make FG's, especially from the hash. It literally doesn't matter how far I angle the arrow over towards the other side of the field. Its practically at a 90 degree angle and I hit the meter in the green and the kick STILL doesn't get over far enough. Its absurd.

Auto recruiting is messed up. I manually recruited the first 4 weeks. Then switched to auto. I'm ranked 5th in nation got 3 signed lol

Buddy I manually recruited for 13 weeks with Florida state and have 1 recruit. I don’t even know what I’m doing wrong. This is ridiculous. Fn Toledo has 12 recruits. Do I have to pay the players? Give them a Camaro? Feels hopeless.

Did you try giving them girls? Or crab legs?

Unfortunately, it's pretty clear that the stat Sim engine for NCAA is 100% totally busted from a statistical standpoint....as are the post-season awards.

Sim'd stats from other games around the country are totally screwy, so there'sway too few rushing attempts(passing yards are fine, but very RB's are rushing for over 1K) , sacks or INT's. My RB at a Sun Belt school won the Doak Walker and was first team AA with only like 1150 rushing yards.

And half my defensive starters won their respective national positional awards (including my DE winning the Heisman with 18 sacks...never controlled him for 1 play all season).....but weren't All Americans.

And that's not me playing with some weird clock settings. Its just 6 minute quarters, default AA sliders, no clock acceleration.

Game play is fun and recruiting is ok (although probably a little bit too easy....I think I got 5 3* recruits in year 1 and then my 11-2 season bumped my coach up enough where I could compete for plenty of 3 and 4* guys in the transfer portal....mostly because my "Style of play" rating went up to A+ for most positions for some reason.

I had several very close games and easily could have lost 4 or 5.....so maybe things go differently if that happens. But for now, Dynasty mode needs a lot of work on the back end. Lots of stuff that was in the game 15 years ago (school trophy case, positional subs, I'm sure there's lots of others) just didnt make it in this year.

Game play is fun, but if I'm winning the Heisman in year 1 with a Texas State DE, its pretty clear that something si broken.

No positional subs is a big one for me.

So there are options on the depth chart for 3rd down RB, slot corner, slot WR and a few other options (one of which i think is "power RB")... But I liked having the ability to set up all my formations with guys in the spots that i wanted...make specific selections for LB's in nickle and dime formations, etc. Not sure how achievable this is with this system.

Yeah, I play a ton of guys out of position. It’s not out of the question for me to have 4 tackles on the Oline. Might play a safety at LB. Enough injuries and I just happen to have a WR who has outlandish catching skills who can play corner in my dime
Package. Maybe my FB is a pass catcher this season so a guard would be a better FB on goal one plays. DTs 😍 TDs

I'm not going to get CFB 25 (not my jam) but had to check out some FG kicking videos on the tube of you. Hilarious.

Also, that arrow looks...happy.

What's a good quarter time? Accelerated clock on?

I'm playing AA and still having trouble
Here is a link to my Slider Thread on Operation Sports.

I have been developing sliders for Madden, MKB The Show, NBA 2K, NHL and now College Football 25 for the last 15 years. I focus on clean screen, simulation style sliders that make the game realisitc, smooth and what you see on TV for the most part.

I have two sets here. One for All American Difficulty and one for Varsity (which btw plays amasing on CFB 25 and is much better for us older chaps) You will lose on Varsity.

We have a tips and advice section as well that is building.

Didnt put 2 and 2 together and realize that was you.

Planning to try these for my 2nd Season with Texas state. Interested to see how they work out.

No plans on buying NCAA as I enjoy Madden (Pro) a tad more.

However, I have been playing MSU under the 10 hour trial and can throw for 500 yards almost every game.
The recruiting seems a tad complicated. It's a little too much for me. Another reason I prefer playing franchise mode in Madden.

Been fun to play though. A lot of 38-31 games.

You guys will be excited to know that I started Cyberpunk 2077 over the weekend. I can tell you'll be hanging on my every word to learn more about this game from five years ago. ;)

The game is so good now. GOTY worthy had it been released in this state instead of the mess we got at the time.
Yeah, it's actually good. I know it launched in a really rough/broken state, but it's 100% worth playing now. (It's still an open world game and there are still bugs, but now it's within the realm of what's normal for this genre).

I've been a big proponent of game pass, but the downside of that program is that I always have too much "free" stuff to play I don't carve out time to play stuff like Cyberpunk. I've been wanting to get to this for the last couple of years.

Anyone tried Fallout: London?
I was interested but it got delayed for a long time and I moved on. May circle back at some point
I'm in the same boat. I'm sure I'll take a look at it since FO5 is a long way off and I'll want to scratch the Fallout itch.
I'm not going to since I play fallout on my xbox and I'm not all that interested in playing it on a computer. I rather just replay FO4 and 76 (wich I did! not great but maybe not as horrible as it was made out to be, idk)

those who finished Cyberpunk after the DLC: I was about halfway through the game before the DLC came out, then put the game aside to try Elden Ring. I know I'll go back to Cyberpunk at some point - start over or keep going from my last save point? Most of what I see says it's better to start over.

Just got MLB the show 23 for PS4. I like it. Like to do the road to the show part. I don't dip into the diamond dynasty much to be honest

Not speaking from experience (yet), but I would start over. Everything I've read, and a friend, told me that the changes are vast and significant. It was their one shot at an update before the studio moved on to the next project, so they jammed as much as they could in there.

I'm still very early in the game, but this is my sense too. Apparently they changed a lot in a couple of major patches, not just the DLC. From what I understand, skill trees are completely different now, cyberware works completely differently, etc. I think you have to reallocate your skill points even if you pick up where you left off. Probably best just to start anew.
