Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (6 Viewers)

No spoilers but it would be cool if you could get a Rachni squad mate (I chose to save the species).
Yeah, it really would be cool if that decision made any difference at all, wouldn't it?
Thanks for your carefully worded response. It really would be nice.

At the very least I am hoping I can recruit them in the war against the reapers but I worry that the best I will get out of that will be a couple of paragraphs from a found datapad, or the like, as an update and that will be it.

One of the biggest disappointments in all of Mass Effect is how meaningless the Williams character ends up being. She should be badass in ME3 but I think she's pretty wimpy.
100% agree. I can only assume they mailed her character in becauseshe might have been dead in a fair number of players' games. Their treatment of Miranda was even worse, probably for the same reason.
They mailed in everyone except liara and javik in 3.
Garrus is good too."

I wont say I haven't thought of it. She stayed in shape despite her age.

I ran in to a character on Illium that updated me (in ME2) on their status. That was about it.I cleaned up all the side missions yesterday. Only have one not completed, and it was one I accepted accidently trying to speed through the conversation (pick up packages for the alien on Omega). All clusters except where I need to go for the Reaper IFF have been explored 100%. The only upgrade I have not completed is for the SMG. Apparently I need to purchase one more upgrade for it but have no idea where to find it. Everything else is upgraded 100%. All characters recruited and loyalty missions complete. I am all set up for a day off of work tomorrow, and I will be concentrating fully on the main story. Wonder if I can complete the thing in a marathon eight hour session?

That decision from me1 does have a purpose.
if you save the queen in the first game she'll be loyal in me3. If you don't save her, a reaper cloned queen is there. She wont stay loyal if you free her in me3.

For people still playing ME3, or planning to, and won't be doing multiplayer apparently you should download the ME3: Extended Cut (free) to unlock all the possible endings.

Yes definitely do that unless you want to experience the outrage firsthand.

Is this something that will download automatically when I install ME3 on the PS3? Or does it have to be downloaded like a DLC from the Playstation store?

Not sure if its on the disc for ps3. You have to dl it for Xbox. So id check the store to see.

Hmm, now I wonder if there's a way to tell? My ME2 purchase, which was used from Gamestop, came with DLC on it (I didn't even know it). I have no idea if it is included with the ME3 disc. Guess I will read through the back cover and see if it mentions it. Otherwise, I'll do a search on ME3 at the store and see what comes up. I imagine it won't cause damage to install it again even if it is already there and I don't know it.

You have to dl it for PC too.

Total War: Rome 2 coming out in September. Loved the original, probably the best of the series.

Enjoyed Rome. Just the right amount of mirco for me.
I should break Rome out again. Just something great about conquering the world and bringing the uppity Egyptians to their knees. :)
Play a small map on Civ 5 on quick. No I'm not going to invade you, my entire army has surrounded your territory to protect you from the barbarian hordes.Sure ill stop attacking you if you give me open borders. My entire army is inside your territory to protect you from the barbarian hordes, I promise.

It won't take that long. Once you begin the assualt, its rather quick.

Sweet. Then the next decision is, roll right in to ME 3? Or take the break I thought about but DIDN'T take between ME and ME2? Make a Gamestop run to pick up something new/different? Dead Space fan and haven't played 3. Bioshock fan and haven't played Infinite. Keep hearing about Dragon's Dogma. Should be able to find some of these on the cheap (well, not Infinite).

Yea, I will likely hold off on that till the price comes down. What about Far Cry 3? That's supposed to be good too right? I loved the new Tomb Raider. Is it sort of along those lines?

More open world, better stealth, less emphasis on jumping/climbing (although there is a little), less QTE's.

Both good games, but FC3 was overall a bit better.

Thanks to you and JWB. Will likely grab this tomorrow. I find I am getting a little tired of the ME universe. Having trouble even getting motivated to finish up ME2 today. Did the IFF mission and got Legion loyal, but that's about it. So I definitely need an ME break I think before moving on to ME3.

Guess I was closer to being done with ME2 than I realized. Finished it up with about another hour of play. Went ahead and downloaded the extended cut for ME3. Big file, but it is installed. Firing up 3 now just to update the game and all. May play an hour or so since the wife is still at work and I have no other games here. But unlike some of y'all, I enjoyed the ending to 2. Thought it was cool. I was disappointed to lose a crew member though to the bugs. Was that avoidable or inevitable?

You can have all main crew members survive. You have to have them all loyal and pick the right ones to send on the individual parts of the mission (like escorting survivors back, etc.)

I don't think anyone had a problem with the ending to 2.

I had a problem with the entire story of 2, including the ending, it obviously got worse with 3. But thats just my opinion.

The "story" in ME2 was basically a series of unrelated quests to make various characters happy. Not bad, but nothing special that deserves to be raved about. The story in ME3 is vastly better until you encounter Marauder Shields -- from that point on it's horrible beyond words, but it was great up that point.

You're a horrible person. <_<

:lmao:

You have to admit that that ME3 is pretty awesome for most of the game. The genophage storyline is almost worth the price of the game all by itself. And then you get thrown into something that looks like an all-out near-suicide mission, culminating in the confrontation with Marauder Shields, and at that point you're thinking "OMG this is so epic." And then you get subjected to, well, the rest of the ending. I want to start mocking it again but since a bunch of the people in this thread are apparently playing through the series now I don't want to spoil it and its -- special -- resolution to the trilogy.

It was just a different type of story - more character development than singular focus on saving the universe. Thought the writing was great.

I'm not saying the story in ME2 sucked or anything. I'm just saying that it had a very strong episodic mission-by-mission feel to it. ME3 was a lot more coherent and had really good, clear payoffs. Except for that one part.

Sigh. Was re doing mass effect 1 for the last week. Started a brand new character. Got to virmire. Just about to fight saren when Bam! Disc unreadable error. Banged on the system while loading the next time ( cause I read that works) and I get all the way through the fight, set the bomb off and we're about to load the aftermath when it strikes again. I cleaned the disc. I've banged on the system. It has to be the laser. So annoying.

Woohoo. Cleaned it a 4th time very meticulously. Got through. Held my breath on the load screen. Reminded me of the days of blowing into cartridges.
