Video games...what ya playing? And what are you looking forward to? (5 Viewers)

Those unawares, the same people that leaked the correct steam autumn sale date also leaked the holiday sale date -- Dec. 19th.

I hope your wallets have recovered, its upon us.

Finished up my run through Tomb Raider. Very nice game.

I am going to try some Tomb Raider multiplayer next although if it goes like any other multiplayer I have played, it should progress like this

1) Start game, turn first corner get head blown off, no idea who killed me

2) Respawn, walk three steps, get head blown off, no idea who killed me

3) Have some 9 year old tell me how much I suck

4) Respawn and cower some where hoping not to hurt my team by constant dying.

Very depressing :)

Online gaming can be a real drag. Recently went online for a game and was running around. Saw two dudes sneaking around obviously setting up a sniper nest. Snuck up on them, rounded the corner and started spraying with the shotgun, killing them both.

They spent the next 10 minutes complaining about the cheap newb with the shotgun. Seems to me that in that one isolated incident, I outplayed them both but, of course, it was because I was using "cheap" weapons and tactics. Stuff drives me crazy. The game is meant to be played however the game can be played, not what's defined in your head as acceptable.

Thats one big reason why chat with opposing sides should be eliminated by the game maker.

If they're whining about that, then they aren't worth a crap anyway. I wasn't a fan of the Tomb Raider multiplayer. Just felt like generic multiplayer shoved into a game that didn't need it.

BF3 I think, right before BF4 came out

Ah. Then forgive me, the timing on the post made me think you were responding to NewlyRetired about Tomb Raider above.

That's honestly why I never touch MP and couldn't care less about that aspect of any game I buy. If it isn't a solid single player game, then I won't even look at it.

in it's defense, it can be a blast to play, especially if you get online with friends in a private game. there are a ton of diaperwranglers out there who can make it a real drag, but if you get past that it can be fun.

i remember getting online with my nephew, who is pretty decent at call of duty. He helped me stay alive for more than the usual 15 seconds, and we had a great time.

I'm old enough that I don't really have any friends in to games. Now my son and some nephews are, but they are all Xbox owners, and I am a PS3 owner. So it just really doesn't work out. Not to mention, my play time is the first hours I get home from work. I'm not a "prime time" evening player. So even if I did have an Xbox, it would be tough to hook up with anyone. So single player remains my major focus.

If you're getting annoyed by all the kiddies yelling at you about being a cheap newb, then embrace it. Instead of having a goal of getting the highest score in an online game, make it your goal to piss off as many of those kiddies as possible. Make it your goal to get them all to quit playing on that server because of your cheap play. Use rocket launchers/shotguns/whatever the cheap weapons are. Use exploits. Once I switched to this attitude, gaming with random #######s became a lot more rewarding.

Looks like the steam sale started thru jan 3rd
Between the summer sale and the autumn sale (which really just ended) I am stocked up on games but I am definitely watching my wishlist intently until Jan 3rd.

What I love about these sales is that I end up with so much content on backlog that I have no problem waiting for high end games (e.g. Metro: Last Light, Rome II, Arkham Origins etc) to drop to under $10 dollars before buying them. Got Far Cry 3 for $7.49 during the Autumn sale. Frankly because of the Steam sales the idea of paying more than $7.49 for a game seems wasteful.

* Unless you are interested in an EA published game. Then you have to deal with the Origin prices. I wish I didn't have to, but Titanfall knows I'm waiting for it.

It's not a strict rule it's more of a general guideline. I am really looking forward to Titanfall too, but there will be a price drop in that too eventually.

Right now Gamefly has EA games on sale, Crysis 3 & Dead Space 3 (both 2013 releases) for $14.99 are decent deals but considering how much content I have I am willing to wait awhile longer to see if they come down a little more next year.

Budgeting for the Steam sale. Not spending more then $100 and will be grabbing Baldurs Gate 2 whenever it hits a daily deal.

Love Steam.

And so it begins.

Bioshock Infinite for $9.99
I enjoyed it but preferred Dishonored ($7.49 for another 3 hours).

Infinite is totally worth buying but it didn't really resonate as a true Bioshock game to me. The campaign was also a little short IMO.

Anyone looking forward to Tom Clancy's The Division? Just announced that the PC version will not be a port, but full-on optimized PC game. Heard that one before

If you've been considering the Ouya (I have, just to figure out what the heck it is), there's a discount on it today that makes it $60 instead of $100.

Buy from their site and add the code "calamity" at checkout.

With as little traction as the system has seemed to gain, "calamity" seems a little apropos.

So it is an Android based gaming console or something like that? So what games can you play on it?

Daily Sale 24 hrs:

Far Cry 3 $7.49

Total War: Shogun 2 $7.49

Fez $2.49

Crysis 2 $7.49

Chivalry Medieval Warfare $6.24

Final Fantasy VII $4.03

Nether $11.99

Train Simulator 2014 $9.89

Omerta City of Gangsters $9.99

Flash Sale 8 hrs:

Music Creator 6 $16.99

Divinity Dragon Commander $19.99

Project Zomboid $11.24

EVE Online $1.98

Bioshock Triple Pack for $14.99

If you have never played the Bioshock franchise you won't beat that price and it is well worth the investment.

Android games mostly. Here is a list of some of the more popular Ouya games. It would be great for a cheap emulator.

I snagged the Bioshock trilogy all for under 30 bucks.

I started Bioshock a week ago. Wow.....wtf took me so damn long to play this game? I love it. Just love it. I am hooked. I know Bioshock 2 is just really part 1.5 but I will play through it right after the first one and then move right to Infinite.

I just finished Dead Space 3.......and it was a fantastic ride....a fantastic series and worthy end too. I loved every minute of it. While not nearly as shocking as Dead Space 1 I did enjoy it even more than DS2. All three games are absolutely classic, well made and truly a signature series of this console generation.

I have a large....I mean large backlog of games for the PS3 which were all bought on the absolute cheap. I am not going PS4 till at the earliest Christmas 2014. It will be hard for me.....as I am a diehard MLB The Show gamer/veteran but I am not going to cave with MLB The Show 14 around the corner.

Games in my que to play after my run through the Bioshock trilogy:

Diablo 3 (will be doing a 4 party multiplayer playthrough with my son, niece and brother in-law)

Dishonored

Dragons Dogma Arisen

Far Cry 3

Borderlands 2

Kingdoms of Amular Reckoning

Resident Evil 5

Resident Evil 6

Resident Evil Revelations

Games I need to finish as well"

Red Dead Redemption - 35% complete

Deus Ex Human Revolution - 25% complete

XCOM Enemy Unknown - 85% complete

Skyrim - 250 hours on my inital and only character, still have not completed the Dark Brotherhood, all the DLC not done yet, Main questline in the final act, never started the Civil War, never did the Bards College nor the Lycan Questline. The game is truly remarkable.

I am waiting for Batman Arkham Orgins to be under 20 bucks before picking that up. I have played through the first 2 and love that series.

As always I am hardcore on my sports games. I am currently playing:

Madden 25 - Year 2 of my Dolphins CFM, year 3 of my online league (Dolphins) and almost done with my 1990 Season Replay (32 team control in CFM)

The Show 13 - Year 2 of the NYY in spring traning and on hiatus till Feb, halfway done with my 1988 season replay as the NYY and then I will fire up a 1990 season replay.

NBA 2K14 - 25 games into year one of the Miami Heat Association (stuck with 2K11 till this one and it is a true upgrade from the legendary 2K11).

NHL 13 - Year one of NYR BeAGm mode - very late to the party with NHL 13.....awesome game, so much fun..doing the Connected GM with my Brother in-law he is the Devils. We play one then sim 4 to get through the seasons quicker.

My choices for game of the year and sports game of the year would be:

Game of the Year - The Last of Us- amazing.......chlling, riviting, ground breaking....can't say enough about this incredible game.

Sports Game of the Year - Tie with Madden 25 and MLB The Show 13 - I have never played a Madden game for this long since the PS2/XBOX days......Connected Franchise is highly addicitng, the gameplay the best it has ever been for a "Madden" title, the Madden share feature which has yielded me the 1986, 1990, 1993, 1995, 2008 complete rosters as well as a great teams of the 60's and 70's roster have given the title unlimited replay value for me. The Show 13 is the pinnacle of the series....a game that is the very best at caputuring it's respective sport. Nothing like it on the planet.

Nothing.

DO YOU SMELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL WHAT THE ROCK IS COOKIN?

Just started up WWE2K14. Played the first wrestlemania match Andre the Giant vs Big John Stud!!!

Little clunky and still don't know all the options but for the 40 bucks it's mindless fun thus far!!!
Having toruble getting the timing and controls down, I had to go online to read the full manual since the ingame "tutorial" sucks....

That said having a blast unlocking the WWE Wrestlemania characters and reliving the and re-enacting matches from the past.

Really tough but fun so far.

Unlocked, Andre the Giant, King Kong Bundy, Hulk (Hulkamania Days), Macho Man and Ricky the Dragon Steamboat

What's the general FBG consensus on the new systems?
I think the consensus is that if you aren't the kind of person who preordered back in June (an early adopter who was getting a new system no matter what), the games just aren't there to justify making the jump right now. I like my PS4, but I'd have a hard time recommending its current game library, and the Xbox is no better. That's probably not going to change until next spring.

Just upgraded my GPU and received a rewards card to select 1 of 4 games for free. I haven't played any of the selections. Any recommendations on which one to take?

Sleeping Dogs

Deus Ex Human Evolution

Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon

Dirt 3

Deus Ex is a really good stealth game. I think a typical playthrough is 20-25 hours, it has pretty good replay value, and it would be my pick of those four games.

Sleeping Dogs is a lot like GTA, only it's much more focused on melee combat than firearms. Good, solid game.

Blood Dragon was fun for me at first, but I never finished it. Not as good as "regular" Far Cry 3.

I don't know what Dirt 3 is.
