Alright so I finally......finally beat Borderlands. I had finshed all the quests and bounty's etc but left The Vault and destroying the Beast for last.
Did it last night......glad I leveled up a lot for it. It was frustrating.
I am finally done with MLB 13 The Show as I completed one full year of a current Yankees season (knocked out in the ALCS to Boston in game 7). Finished a full 1988 season replay (knocked out of the ALCS...to you guessed it Boston in game 7) and then played a condensed 1999 season replay as the Yankees and lost in the ALCS to the Houston Astros (4 games to 1).
Amazing basball game.....but in less than two weeks I will be getting The Show 14 (PS3) and the beauty of this title is I will be able to cross save my Yankees franchise and any rosters to The Show 15 as well my Road To The Show player on PS4!!! Cross saving for multiple platforms. truly superb feature......now I never have to start over and can play my franchise as deep as I want to go without starting over. My plan is to go PS4 in the Spring of 2015 to purchase The Show 15.
Almost finished with my NHL 13 year one Blackhawks BeAGm.
In the post season with my 1990 Miami Dolphins season replay on M25 and Year 4 is getting cracnked up in my current day Dolphins CFM. Madden 25 has been awesome this year. I will embark on a 1993, 1986 and 1995 season replay as well. I have all the rosters and I create 32 team CFM's with the correct coaches and playbooks for every team.....it's freaking sweet. Seeing the news and tweets about all the classic players and coaches is a super cool touch and immerses me into the season. I only play one year.....but I keep a master save for each season starting in week one so I can play as different teams and just keep replaying the season in year one....but I can just take on different teams whenever I want...play whatever game I want as well.
I have given up on Dark Souls.......it kicked my ###....and I truly do not have the patience for this type of game anymore. Just too hard.....I know I can beat it.....I just don't want to put in the time sink. I have too many games to play and not enough time.
So I am determined to finsih up Skyrim over the next 3-4 weeks. And complete the main quest, Dark Brotherhood and the two DLC packs in Dragonborn and Dawnguard.
I am also halfthrough Uncharted 3.....loving it.
So next up will be:
Batman Arkham Origins and Deus Ex Human Revolution.
Then on to Dragons Dogma Dark Arisen as my next full fledged RPG.
Do you have Arkham Origins?I got it when it came in The Last Of Us PS3 bundle. I think I might sell it - I finished the Last of Us which was incredible, and just ordered Uncharted 1 and 2 and Heavy Rain from Best Buy (all 3 for $27). As soon as they come in Ill start those.
Been playing the show 12 - bought it cheap just to play. It's fun but I can't hit for ####. I've only score more than 5 runs once. I also have a hard time with base running. I'll get guys on and somehow screw up the base pads.
Yes I picked up Batman for 5 bucks.....had a gift card and 30% off coupon for GS.....so got it used.
Firing that up as soon as I finish Uncharted 3 which will be soon.
I can PM you my personal settings for The Show 12 if you need some help (I have used these same settings for 09, 11, 12 and 13 and will for 14). I play with a very sim approach using Timed hitting and Classic Pitching, Broadcast behind the pitcher view (ala Bases Loaded for NES) when I pitch. It looks awesome and every ball paark has different broadcast camera views which are authentic...really nice touch. No on screen aids at all. Auto Fielding but manual throwing, assisted base running (using the default running controls not the face button classic ones). I have a hybrid slider set that is All-Star Pitching but Veteran hitting.
Hitting on The Show is ultra realistic and you must develop patience and a good eye....or you will struggle badly. The first thing you should do is turn the pitch speed down all the way to your left to "0". That will go a long way in helping you understand how to see the pitch. YOu must learn the pitcher release point...and they all have different types. Once you got that down...your on your way. Learn to take the first pitch a lot. Also learn to use the "contact swing" on 0-2 and 1-2 counts. Goes a long way into battling back in the count.
Also do not....I repeat do not use guess pitch. It will make you a lousy hitter. I only have it on to check pitch history during an at bat. that's it. Learn to hit like IRL. You will learn to draw more walks etc. Plus my setting help with the CPU not pounding the zone all day and you will draw walks. If your patient.
I am an expert on The Show.....I play this game year round and have logged litterally over 900 games between The Show 11-13. Simply put it is the single greatest sports game ever made.
Bar none.
14 looks incredible for the PS4......but I am holding out for 15. One year more....I want a second gen PS4 when they add back some of the features the PS3 has now. And I have never been an early adopter with new systems....learned my lesson long ago with that.....more value if you wait a year or two. Personal preference.
The Show 13 has a more open "timing" window and it is easier to hit on 13. You may want to look into that verison of the game as when 14 drops for the PS3 in less than 2 weeks that will drop in price. The ball physics are vastly better than 12 and hitting is more forgiving.
Also their are tons of great rosters you can still download for 13.
Anway enjoy. And PM if you need some tips. If you decide to use my personal settings the game will be based more on the player ratings than your stick skills and it is beautiful to watch and feels great to play.....a lot less stress and more about the pitcher/batter showdown. Fielding has always been clunky on The Show.....so I let the ratings dictate that....and the animations look insane with auto fielding. However I make all the throws...so I preload turning double plays, making all my throws to the base....as well as my outfield throws.
Assisted base running/assisted sliding helps also with the so so base running controls. It's easy to use the default controls though once you get the hang of it. Simply point the right stick at the runner you want to move (they will start flashing on the baserunning diagram in the right corner) and press the base (face) button you want them to either advance or return too. L1 to advance all R1 to retreat all.
L2 to get a steal.
L1 to lead more.
If you have 1st and 2nd and want only your guy on second to steal point the right stick at him and press L2.
If you want all your runners to stop half way on a fly ball press R2.....then R1 to return them all and potentialy tag up.
Just practice using that right stick to point to particular runners to set their commands.....it really is snap once you get used to it.
Hit me up with any questions.
