THERE'S A BARD'S TALE APP??!?!Mad Cow said:FYI - if you get the Bard's Tale for Android app, it comes with all of the old PC titles bundled. Did anyone else get a pre-pubescent orgasm the first time your Bard's Tale conjurer or magician made it to sorcerer?
God, I remember that felt like losing my virginity at the top of Everest.![]()
On a similar note, back in the early 80s I played all the Wizardry games. Don't remember which one it was on this occasion, but the "graphics" consisted of nothing but straight lines. I mapped out the levels square by square on graph paper. I get to the last square of one level - this HAS to be where I get the key or whatever after the obligatory battle takes place - and...nothing is there. This can't be; there's nowhere else to go. After a couple days of wandering around the now-empty level, I finally call Sir-Tech (they actually have a help line!). After much back and forth, I'm finally put in touch with the woman(!) that actually programmed the thing. After another round of bizarre argument (Me: "I'm at square x:12, y:9 and I swear there is nothing there!" Her: "There has to be - you should see six mummies and two vampires!"), she finally broke down and mailed me a disk with a valid save game on it so I could finish it.![]()
I thought it was available through the 31st but evidently the discounts on XB1 were only through the 30th.Hawks64 said:I like it and would buy again, it's a lot of fun. Story is really interesting. Sounds like fun.Firing up a new FO3 game. No home in Megaton or Tennpenny Tower. No main quest. No survival guide. Just wandering from one ammo dealer to another. And lot's of killin
If trying to get all the bobble heads, don't miss the one in ravenrock. If you miss it, you cannot go back when u blow it up.Sounds like fun.Firing up a new FO3 game. So I asked about the slaver encampment no one had a suggestion. I went with killing everyone. I started with the guy with the minigun in the tower. Worked out pretty good. So I got the guy out and picked up some cool stuff. I wonder will it refill with slavers? Surely that wasn't all of them.
Ended up pushing the main quest further than I meant to. Finding out where the Super Mutants were born was cool, so many masters there. Apparently I have talked the president into blowing up Raven Rock. I sure hope that's a good thing. I stopped for the night before escaping Raven Rock. So I guess that's on the agenda for this evening.
Thanks for the tip. Just checked unless I go back a save I can't get the bobblehead. Once you enter the control room all doors lock. I may back up so I can grab it.If trying to get all the bobble heads, don't miss the one in ravenrock. If you miss it, you cannot go back when u blow it up.Sounds like fun.Firing up a new FO3 game. I have been holding off on the DLC missions until I finish the main story because I figured I needed to be further along before trying them. Plus I wanted to finish the game kind of in order as it were. But looking forward to cool new toys.I got the FO3 GOTY and found that if you do the DLC missions, you get an overpowered (virtually unbreakable) winter tesla armor. I made the mistake of getting that armor too early in my playthrough. I also found the dog to be very difficult to kill even when you try.
That's a good idea cuz some of the DLC weapons are anachronistic. And getting the overpowered armor means your character looks the same for the rest of the game since all other armor would be a downgrade.NCCommish said:I have been holding off on the DLC missions until I finish the main story because I figured I needed to be further along before trying them. As for DM yeah he's tough. I mean I have really let him take some abuse and he keeps rolling. Last night he got to a SM Overlord before I could get past the two mutants I was killing and I barely got there in time to claim some of the XP. He is a killer.
i was going to wait and get the ps4 and the show during the summer... If the saves carry over maybe I'll just get the PS3 versionMLB 14 The Show for the PS3 was just delievered to my doorstep.
Two major new features were added which to me are game changers.
1. Cross platform saves for Franchise mode, Road To The Show Mode and Rosters - this is huge!!!! Being able to start a franchise and Road To The Show career and know I can carry it over on all future iterations is amazing. I can start a Yankees franchise on 14....and when I go to PS4 next spring....transfer it right over to the PS4 15 version. Truly awesome. I will be able to go years deep in franchise. Rosters can be carried over as well. Which is huge for classic roster makers who painstakingly re-create classic teams/season etc.
2. Quick Counts - like the old and great High Heat series.....generated counts are now in The Show which will drastically reduce game times and allow players to play games in literraly 15-30 minutes. Now I love playing full games.....but when i know I only have 30 minutes to get a game in...I just turn on quick counts and wala!!! Pretty awesome feature.
Add on to that all the usual tweaks and tuning this great team from SCEA San Diego does for each iteration of the game and you have the ultimate console baseball game. Couple that with a vibrant roster community (who creates incredible classic rosters for season play as well as the famous Operation Sports Full Minors roster which will be available in about 4 weeks) and you are in baseball heaven.
Tonight we play The Show 14!

IMO Fallout: New Vegas was far better and might be worth a shot. I'm with you on not going back. Between Skyrim, FO3, FO:NV, I'm pretty done with the FPS Bethesda games. You spend so much time in their interface it needs to be revamped every few games or it makes the experience stale. Not feelin' it with Fallout 3. Maybe I just spent to much time on it before. But seems really "meh" going back to it.
I'm still playing '12.MLB 14 The Show for the PS3 was just delievered to my doorstep.

Just finished Uncharted this morning. I'm right there with you. It was uninspiring for sure. I'm still hoping that Uncharted 2 will lie up to the hype that was generated otherwise I'm going to really question whether the PS3 was a complete failure of a gaming system. I say this because Uncharted is often pointed to as the pinnacle of gaming for the PS3. I was hoping for better when I picked up the PS3. Thought I was going to have a large collection of high quality games to play before making the jump to the next gen. So far only Last of Us has been worth my time.Playing uncharted. It's ok. The platforming is fun and it reminds me a bit of the Sands of Time but not quite as good. The shooting bores me to no end.
I'll stick with it because it's an enjoyable story and I do like the puzzles, but I did turn down the difficulty to dispose of enemies quicker. It's not that they were overly tough, but its just wave after wave and there's not much strategy to killing them.
Anyway - bout halfway through and I'll say 6/10.

Is there a significant jump between '12, '13, and '14?
I'd really probably just be happy to get current rosters on '12 but don't know how to do that.
This does seem like a workable plan.So Amazon unveiled their new console today -- Fire TV. It's an android-based set-top box that mainly focuses on streaming but also offers some limited gaming options -- Double Helix is one of the flagship developers, but we're looking at mostly mobile-type games here. Price is $99 plus another $40 if you want a game controller in addition to the included remote (a superlatively butt-ugly cousin to the Xbox controller.
I'll wait a few days for early user reviews, but I'm leaning very strongly toward picking one of these up for my upstairs bedroom. I've been using my PS3 for streaming up there, which is fine, but the Fire TV is cheap enough to replace it. This would allow me to move the PS3 back downstairs and hook it back up to my good set. Then I can pick up Dark Souls 2, and my wife probably won't notice that it's a new game and won't deduce the real reason for making the switch in the first place. GB women being clueless.

I'm pretty much with you on Uncharted. Good, but not great game, and I found the combat system extremely repetitive. I'm about 50% through U2 and it is a much tighter game. The controls are a lot crisper, and they added a minor stealth aspect to some of the fights. The graphics are also considerably better and the story seems deeper than U1. I'm getting close to finishing I think - it's a chore at this point. I'm going to play Heavy Rain before moving onto Uncharted 2. I think my main issue with going back is grey. Everything is freaking grey. Grey everywhere you look. It just isn't visually appealing. It's like watching a black and white TV show. The dullness of it all is just a real turn off at this point.IMO Fallout: New Vegas was far better and might be worth a shot.I'm with you on not going back. I found FO3 to also be kind of visually disappointing as well, then again it was supposed to be a post-apocalyptic landscape.I think my main issue with going back is grey. NV does a better job and the world of Skyrim is off the charts cool to look at.
I think "disappointing" was the wrong word for me to use, "dreary" feels more appropriate. That's the point. You're supposed to feel alone and isolated in the wasteland. Wandering at night in the middle of nowhere and the only sound is the breeze nipping at your ears puts you in the perfect mindset for this game. I haven't been so totally immersed in a game's world as I was with FO3.I think "disappointing" was the wrong word for me to use, "dreary" feels more appropriate. But I think a post-apocalyptic landscape is supposed to feel dreary.FO3 is no Skyrim but I don't think it's that bad.I found FO3 to also be kind of visually disappointing as well, then again it was supposed to be a post-apocalyptic landscape.NV does a better job and the world of Skyrim is off the charts cool to look at.I think my main issue with going back is grey. Everything is freaking grey. Grey everywhere you look. It just isn't visually appealing. It's like watching a black and white TV show. The dullness of it all is just a real turn off at this point.IMO Fallout: New Vegas was far better and might be worth a shot.I'm with you on not going back.
This could help my enjoyment a lot. I felt like every time I ran into a new area in U1 the enemies automatically knew I was there and just started pelting me with bullets.I'm pretty much with you on Uncharted. Good, but not great game, and I found the combat system extremely repetitive. I'm about 50% through U2 and it is a much tighter game. The controls are a lot crisper, and they added a minor stealth aspect to some of the fights. The graphics are also considerably better and the story seems deeper than U1. Overall it's a much better game, but still not something I want to rush home to pick up and play.Just finished Uncharted this morning.
I played it and wrote up a little mini-review in the PS4 thread. If you played an inFamous game before, this one will be instantly recognizable -- the gameplay is basically identical to previous titles. I never got tired of the various combat segments, and you can generally choose to approach them in a few different ways, but there's not a whole lot of variety there.Anyone playing Infamous Second Son? About to pick it up.
Thx, got madden 2014 for ps4 for Christmas and never opened it (had it for ps3) so need to exchange it at target before the value completely drops.ETA read the other writeup, well done. Will definitely pick up.I played it and wrote up a little mini-review in the PS4 thread. In normal times, this would be one of those wait-for-it-to-hit-$30 titles since it's SP-only and isn't going anywhere in the meantime, but there aren't a lot of games out there right now and it does give you your $60 worth. I think the consensus 8-10-ish reviews are about right. It's a good game, but it's not a system-selling must-own title either.
