Vikings - Valhalla (1 Viewer)

I'm pretty good with vpns, hacks and such.  I'm just wondering if it would show up on the streaming apps if instead of Vikings, I searched for BBC Vikings or something instead.  Worst case I just go download it.
I found a couple discussions about it on a forum somewhere - sorry, can't recall now, perhaps reddit.  It was too much for me to get into as I don't have the tech know-how.  One thing I recall is that you can apparently buy the UK version bluray to get the original version.

Great season so far.. I know an actor is doing his part well when any scene with Ivar starts with my wife saying "God, I hate him" ...

Hell yeah!  I thought 6 wasn’t until next year.  Wifey and I just blazed through entire series for a second time a month ago.  I know GoT gets all the rave reviews, but Vikings is equally as good.  Dude who played Ragnar is just straight electric, as is Floki.  And my love Lagertha, who doesn’t want more of her?!

Great start to the final season. Ivar may have found someone as insane as he is!!

I prefer Vikings over GOT. Loved GOT but Vikings even better IMO.

I fell behind on this for a couple years, but just caught up.  Season 5 was a major drag for me - I fast-forwarded through all the Floki/Iceland scenes and don't feel like I missed anything.  Season 6 part 1 was very good, and the introduction of another faction (the Rus) provided a much needed injection of new life in the show.

Yea, the floki stuff became

Thanks -
I enjoyed the hell out of it, wish there were 20 episodes. I don't care much about the whole too many blacks too many women to woke BS going on around the show. I just want to be entertaining by what I watch.

6 of 8 episodes in and really enjoying it.  Feels like the original show.  My only complaint is it doesn't have the same intro song.

8 episodes.. ONLY 8?????

ok, so I thought this would be one of those 10 episodes shows.. Imagine my surprise/anger when after #8 I was brought to a "here's what we think you should watch next" screens. :wall:

In case you can't tell..... I really Liked how this series picked up 100 years later.. The storylines they built up for season 2 are great.. Now the wait begins.

I am just not engaging with this show.  I really enjoyed the original show.  I don’t care for anyone at this point.  I turned it off mid-way through the 3rd episode.  Maybe I’ll give it some time and try again.

I liked it. Not as much as the original but still enjoyable. I did care about Leif Erickson and his group, so someone to root for there for me. Also Olaf is easy to root against, and Earl Godwin is a great conniver. Solid show, a couple of good battle scenes. I think it's worth watching through the 4th episode, there's a big turning point there.

Episode 4, The Bridge was an amazing episode. High quality.

Of course the history doesn’t bear close scrutiny in either Vikings or Vikings Valhalla, it is fun to see historical figures i grew up with on screen. I can imagine historians cataloging all the wrong info.

I've had fun looking up the actual events portrayed on the show - learned a good bit about that time that I didn't know (and i assume most people don't know).

Adding this to my list.

If you liked this, you might also like The Last Kingdom -- 4 seasons (eventually 5) and pretty well done, if sometimes over the top.  Led me down a deep rabbit hole into Middle Ages history too.

Love me some Uhtred (son of Uhtred, in case you were wondering).

Me too.  Good show with lots of history mixed in.

Made me want to understand more about Saxons, Danes and Celts, then the Romans that came before them, and I ended up all the way back at the Kurgan Theory and how Indo-European languages came to dominate so much of the world.

I think the next season is coming this Wednesday.

Valhalla is not really grabbing me yet, not sure I'm going to continue with it after watching the first 3.

Been looking forward to season 5... Based on how long it took them to OK a 5th season, I'm expecting this to be the final, but glorious, season

Exactly, Last Kingdom hooked me into a different part of the Viking history, and it's interesting to see the different names across the different series.

I don’t think Valhalla has an actor with Travis Fimmel’s charisma.  Or a lead character with a particularly interesting plot to follow yet. Leif, as a character, doesn’t seem to have any goals. And while that might change in season 2, based on the finale, it means we’re spending a lot of time on a guy who things just happen to.

The Harold/Freydis love story seems based on nothing more than the desire to see two hot actors undressed a lot. And hey, mission accomplished, but it makes Harold seem underwritten.  Canute would have the best arc, but they make a choice to be historically accurate for once in a way that kind of undermines the drama. Though I do give the show credit for introducing Sweyn Forkbeard as a character who does, indeed, have a kickass forked beard.

I have read Bernard Cornwell’s Saxon Chronicles novels, but my memory of them is so vague that every season of the Lost Kingdom feels almost new with just echoes of familiarity to me.

I do tend to like it more than all but Season 2 of Vikings.

Same here! In fact, after learning MORE about that era than I ever had of interest before, it led me to start looking into ancestry type of things.

Glad The Last Kingdom season 5 dropped. Need some Viking fix. Still no interest in going back to Vikings: Valhalla.
