With the Twins winning the division the Vikings vs Lions game will be bumped from the noon kickoff time on Sunday Oct 8th . I know they were talking about moving the game to a Monday night kickoff? Has anyone got an official news from the NFL on this? I checked their schedule and it still shows a noon kickoff?

How are they going to broadcast this thing? ESPN2? NFL Network? Just local broadcasts? You guys hear anything?

I beleive they did the same thing a few years ago to a Dolphins game. It got moved to Monday night to accomidate the Marlins. Only the 2 markets for those teams got that game and the rest of the country got the regualr sceduled Monday night game.

Oh, yeah. I remember that. You are most likely right. It's probably because FOX owns the telecast rights to that specific game, but ESPN owns the rights to Monday Night Football & won't let them show it nationally.

They said it was going to be moved to Monday night or they could swap the home game with the Detroit Dec 10th game..... I think they said Monday night was the most likely solution...but was just curious if any official word was out?

speculation is that it would be local only.

Big group of friends and I are driving down for the game from Canada....Gonna be a few of us calling in sick Tuesday morning I guess :D

So, if I live in the Detroit market, will I be forced to watch the Lions vs. Vikings, or will I still be able to see the Ravens vs. Broncos?

From the September 27th Pioneer press:

Lions game update: The Vikings are taking a wait-and-see approach to a potential scheduling conflict with the Twins at the Metrodome.

If the Twins win the American League Central Division title and home-field advantage for the divisional round of the playoffs, they could be hosting Game 5 of the divisional series Oct. 8, the same day the Vikings are scheduled to face the Detroit Lions.

In that scenario, the Vikings might have to move their game to Monday night, Oct. 9, or flip-flop home games with the Lions, meaning the teams would play Oct. 8 in Detroit and Dec. 10 at the Metrodome.

Lester Bagley, the Vikings' vice president of public affairs and stadium development, said the team continues to talk with the NFL and the Lions regarding possible contingency plans.

"The Twins' season will be over in five days," Bagley said. "One way or another, the season's over on Sunday. We're just going to kind of let this play itself out and respond accordingly. If there is a reason to change dates, we'll try to give our fans every warning."

If the Vikings-Lions game is moved to Monday night, an NFL spokesman has said it would be televised on over-the-air affiliates in both teams' home markets and be available to Sunday Ticket subscribers.

That last bit about it being available on Sunday Ticket is great news!!!!

The lions should not be allowed to play on Monday night under any circumstance.
:goodposting:
can you imagine if this was going on with say the tigers vs A's and raiders vs lions...that would probably be the worst thing ever for the nfl.having said that as a lions fan i am excited that they could be on monday night...it will probably beat the adrenaline rush all lions fans had when we got the monday night preseason game last year even though we got throttled :wall:

Why does the football game have to be moved? Why not just play a night baseball game?

Everyone knows football is way cooler than baseball...
