Vince Young will be a great QB! (1 Viewer)

He'll need time, and he'll need someone on the playmaking end of a pass every once in a while. Bobby Wade? I just hope they lose enough games to get Calvin Johnson.
As a VY dynasty owner I was hoping the same thing!!
You are hoping that the best college WR is stuck with a pile af garbage like Vince Young? If you want to see what happens then, look at CJ's stats now and cut them in half. If Calvin even gets a feeling that TEN is going after him, he will stay in school. He doesn't need that kind of torture.Vince Young blows. Always has always will. Put HIM at WR and get a QB.
Somehow, someway, your posts just keep get dumber. It's like looking at a 500-lb man and thinking "he can't get any fatter", just as he steps up and orders 5 quarter pounders.Astonishing, really.

Where are these threads for Bush after he rushes for negative yardage on double digit carries?Edit...I see the Bush thread. I don't see nearly the bashing there that I see in here though.
The threads are similar except that Bush doesn't look as bad, and thus doesn't get as bad.
Bush looks quite bad sir.......
I don't disagree... I just don't think he looks as bad as VY.

Guess your "incredible scouting ability" failed you here, eh?

He had a good game... more importantly his throwing motion looked MUCH better. But if you want credit for that game you need to accept the previous game... the worst I've ever seen. But lets not get too excited... his comp% and rating are only better than Andrew Walter. His YPA only better than Gradkowski, longest completion (37 yards) by far the worst. Currently his rating would put him 33rd in the league for QBs who have thrown an average of 15 or more passes per game played. There are 32 teams in the league...Lets see how he answers his 63 yards on 21 attempts in his first meeting with this weeks' opponent - Indy. After that we will see his effort against a cakewalk Houston pass defense.I prefer the body of work to a single game... the end of season stats will tell.On the bright side I do now at least take back the Ryan Leaf comparison... he has earned this much.PS - There is a :deadbevo: alias around here... anyone seen him? :deadhorse:

If you compare YTD FF points, he was the 23rd ranked QB in my league prior to the NYG game. Gradkowski was 31st & Walter 34th. VY deserves a lot of credit, he has breathed life into an 0-3 Tennessee team that was written off as one of, if not the worst team in the NFL this year. Just a hunch the Titan fans are a little more excited about their team with VY at the helm. I know we "dead Bevo's" miss him.

 Definitely. Still need a solid WR, a DE to play across from KVB, a starting CB, and a MLB, but the Titans should be an exciting team next year.

As I said.. of course this was a good game, emphasizing the "A." Up till sunday what could anyone possibly be excited about? If it is all based off one game... I need not say more. Right now the good game is the anomaly... when that changes I'll agree with you.

That makes no sense at all. WHile I agree that rookies and young players are works in progress, I fail to see how it means much to call Young's recent progression an "anomaly." That's what young players do - they progress, they get better over time. It's not an exact science nor is it a quantifiable growth pattern. It is supposed to be an upward-trending graph, which is exactly what has happened. If your point is that Vince Young isn't ready to pose for a bust in Canton, then I concede you are correct. Other than that, I'm not entirely sure what you're getting at. More abstractly: when looking at the teams that have drafted QBs in the first round of the last 5 years, wouldn't you agree that a fair number (Buffalo and Jax come to mind) would gladly trade their choice of "QB of the future" for Young based on his "anomaly" alone?

I dunno, I'm not a Tenn fan, but I imagine they'd be excited at going 3-4 with him as a starter on a pretty terrible team.
I was actually hoping they'd stick with Collins and be bad enough to hold the Lions or Raiders hostage for the #1 pick so they could end up with Calvin Johnson and another 1st day pick or two to add depth to the defense and the guard position. The NYG victory was awesome, but I'd just as soon taken the loss with Collins at the helm for all the other games. :)

I get the feeling that if the Titans continue to play the way they have, then they will not be in position to draft Adams who I think will go top 5. I wouldn't be shocked if the Lions took him with their first rounder. On a seperate note, are you going to have your mock draft predictions, etc. this year?...I really missed those last year as it seemed you didn't do as many...

Absolutely. THings in the HERD world have been chaotic in 2006. I didn't do a single good mock here and didn't contribute any articles at all. I was at an employer that blocked the FBG URLs and my night-life has been all about starting a new business, so posting/writing was not even in the cards. I have missed it immensly.I'm moving to a new employer and the new business isn't as reliant on me, so I look forward to being much more involved in '07. I should have a mock rocking in the next week or so, just to get the ball rollin.

See, I think thats where we are different. I've watched VY win in HS and at UTexas....maybe 50 games plus his start in the NFL. Yes, I know these venues are not the NFL, but the same winning pattern is emerging, but seemingly quicker for him in the NFL. VY is a freak and I mean that as the highest possible compliment. My guess is you have only watched VY since he played for the Titans, at most you've only seen 8 games and probably not even that many. You don't understand how truly gifted this kid is. Keep watching!

They need a really good WR. The crew they have is like putting together a baseball pitching rotation of #3 starters and wondering why you can't win in the playoffs. Bennett is best served as a #2, as is Wade (if that). Givens? Well gee...he's a fringe #2 guy as well. Williams, Roby, Jones...? More guys with the upside of being #2 receivers.

I would think that you would want to go OT before WR...Jake Long would be a good fit if he comes out early...

They need guards more than tackles, although RT could stand to be upgraded. Roos is going to be a good one. Maybe a 6th round pick to Oakland for Gallery? :D

From Joe's waiver wire email tonight:

Over the last five weeks, Young ranks in the top 10 fantasy QB with 811 passing yards, 5 TDs, 4 INTs and 215 rushing yards and 3 TDs. In the last 3 or 4 weeks, he ranks even higher.
Of note, that is 5 weeks, not 1 week.

Colin, good catch with Tarrell Brown. While the media keeps hyping Aaron Ross (who is pretty good) as Texas' best cb this year, they never seem to notice that NOBODY ever throws to TB's side. Brown is outstanding.

;) I happen to think Ross is grossly overrated.

Me, too. Is he still a Thorpe candidate?

I'm a Vince dynasty owner and that's due to 1 decent game and a sprinkling of rushing TD's. Up until this week he'd never thrown for more than 211 yards (which was two weeks ago) and he's thrown for under 100 twice as a starter. Vince has a long way to go as a QB.His intangibles are already showing on the Titans. He fires that team up and leads them. TENN fans have a lot to look forward to as Vince develops.

Actually, he's gone 4-4 as a starter, and he's 4-2 over the last 6 games with one of those losses being an extremely close 1-point loss to one of the NFL's best teams, Baltimore. Plus Vince had Tenn in position to win that Baltimore game but, unlike this week against the Giants, Bironas missed that last second field goal (not to mention that their loss right before the 4-2 stretch was a 1 point loss to Indy that Tenn came very very close to winning). Other than the stinker against Jacksonville, Tenn has been on a bit if a role, and Vince has played pretty well in that stretch (including outstanding games against Baltimore and the Giants) and has helped breathe life into that Titans team. Pacman Jones and Travis Henry have played a large role as well. If Colston stays out and Vince finishes strong, he could end up with Off Rookie of the Year. Especially with all the east coast pub he's getting right now from the Giants game.
