Waiver Wire Risk? (1 Viewer)

I believe this is a slightly different question than just "who to pick up."

I, as many of you, are in a league where the Waiver Wire order does not reset each week. It simply is the rotating method where if you don't use your waiver, you continue to move up; where you can stay at #1 until you use it. Plus it's a 2.00 per add/drop.

Are there any absolute MUST HAVE PICK UPS this week? Or is it worth waiting a week or so to see what happens?

Important League Info: start 2 QB (so there's none left on the WW), 10 team re-draft, non-ppr.

TIA

I have the #1 WW and I plan on saving it for now. Someone in this league is going to panic and drop someone they shouldn't for someone who had a fluky week and then I'm going to pounce. I'm hoping for someone like D.Williams or Moreno (and yes, small rosters plus some of the teams in this league aren't very good at FF).

I am holding down the #1 WW order spot and do not plan on using it right now. A big name is going to go down in the next couple of weeks and I want to be able to capitalize on it. It is one of the few perks in getting the #12 draft spot so I am going to make sure it is worth it.

you get the waiver wire first every week? Don't most leagues reshuffle based on record each week?

I am sure he keeps his #1 spot until he uses it to pick someone up. Then he gets sent down to #12.

If we knew how long Moore will be out in NO, possibily Henderson or Meachem. That is a high octane passing offense and one or both of those guys will produce big numbers with Colston out--both will produce good numbers when Moore AND Colston are out.

I used to have a couple leagues like that a few years ago. Now everyone has gone to where you keep your position if you don't use it. It is a lot more fair that way and makes people really think about picking someone up.

I'm thinking about Henderson. We're currently at #3. But the thing with him, he's have previous opportunities to solidify himself as a solid WR2 but he's never capitalized on it.

:shrug:I like the "reverse record" method. People are more inclined to make moves. In a league where moves cost money (but not much) that means more prize money and more active owners. WW priorities that carry over tend to encourage people sitting around waiting/hoping for a major injury so they can swoop up the next "out of nowhere stud"...which seems kinda lame to me.

Same here, sitting at #3 and I'm desperate for a #3 WR as all I've got is L Evans and a bunch of sleepers. I'm hesitant since Henderson has teased us in the past but I might have to ride him for a few weeks until I can make a trade. Plus he had a pretty good game 3 out of the last 4 weeks of the season last year.

Doesn't that really depend on YOUR league and YOUR roster? The answer of course is yes

Teams that have Foster or are short at RB NEED Tate if he is available

Teams that are playing TE roullette should probably be looking at Scott Chandler

Teams that lost Kaeding need a new kicker

Anyone in a league where Janikowski is somehow a free agent NEED to get him

etc., etc.,

This would be wrong. WW priorities simply apply to owners going through the waiver process to pick up someone perceived to be worth wasting your high waiver priority on. After Tuesday morning all the waivers process and then unclaimed players become free agents. People will then make plenty of moves picking up people without having to use their waiver priority on them so in no way does it deter making moves. In actuality it adds more strategy to how you manage your team when deciding if a guy will be claimed on waivers or to wait for free agency. That player will either be claimed on waivers by someone else or by you the next day as a FA..As to the OP, I wouldn't say anyone right now is a clear cut guy to waste the #1 priority on barring any injuries to your guys and obvious spots where you need a player to fill a void. Cam could be a good one and turn into an every week starter but you said he is already gone. I wouldn't wait forever to use the #1 priority but you could probably hold off this week and pick up anyone you like in free agency.

Having that pick could be a bit of a curse (Happened to me last year). You wait and wait to pull the trigger and that big pickup may never come. The only good opportunity that I had all last year was Tolbert and I passed because I thought Mathews would steal the job when healthy.Meanwhile I watched all of the average pickups that could have possibly helped go by week after week.I am sitting in the 3 spot this year hoping the 1 and 2 take Cam Newton , Cobb or a TE Davis or Dickson but if not I miss out on everything and I am still in the 3 slot next week.
