Was Randy Moss the scapegoat for all the Farve drama? (1 Viewer)

Mora jr. seems to think so.

Things are getting crazy in Minny. Chilly has no control over the Farve soap opera, and bringing in another loose cannon like Moss might have pushed him over the edge. How can Chilly deal with both of these guys?? The bottom line is that he can`t. One of them had to go and Moss was the easy way out.

I don't think Moss is a scapegoat. As much as Favre and Childress clash, Favre plays hard when he is in the game. He plays to win even though his body is falling apart. Moss hasn't given 100% out on the field over the last two or three games, especially against NE. Moss's words yesterday after the game were inappropriate as well. He is not some innocent casualty of the Childress/Favre drama. He is a casualty of his own behavior, and of a coach that is making some bizarre decisions, and who has made some inappropriate press conference ramblings himself.

Don't see the "Favre has control thing" at all. Nor the "Chilly has lost control" thing.

Just the "Moss woudln't learn the plays, may have intentionally thrown the game vs. his lovechildren, and was disrespectful to the extreme" thing.

I also don't see that much Favre drama. The Vikings predicament is just as much a result of Favre's play as anybody else, but there is PLENTY of blame to go around. The drama is just the media. The guy has been hurt, he plays. Not much drama, just like 98% of the rest of the leauge not nicknamed "Candy".

Nothing to see here.

p.s., Moira Jr. might be the last man on earth whose NFL advice I would look for.

Out of all the positions the WR position may be the most difficult to adapt to in mid-season with a new team. Not sure moss would have had success with any team halfway through the year.

Vikings are a train wreck.
Yep. I don't know how you "put up with" Favre's issues (which isn't even accurate, COURT Favre's issues is more a more apt description) but then trash Moss after a handful of weeks. The season is a joke now, and Childress is doing a great impression of Nero.

If he's only (or almost only) running deep routes, which is what he does best, it wouldn't be hard to integrate him into an offense.Of course, if he only runs hard when he thinks he's the main target... and dogs it when he thinks he's being used as a decoy... which I think he has done for years... and he uses press conferences to say things that anger the head coach... Let's say he becomes a lot less attractive to most teams... But I'd be surprised if no one signs this season... assuming he's waived...

The Vikings were building their team the right way until they started going for the quick fixes.

No offense, but that is BS. So, you heard it somewhere on TV and now you assert it as fact. But it is false. I will bet you my house in California that he is signed this week. But I am hoping that Owner Wilf fires Childress instead. My advice to you: watch the players before you comment on them.

:goodposting: The real reason this is all happening is because Moss went to the Vikings and saw what Favre was talking about before the season. Childress is horrible and knows less that either Favre or Moss. He couldn't and shouldn't have to put up with that. Heck if I was Favre I'd be in Childress' office asking why I can't get released.

Apparently I am the only one who saw Moss give up on a possible TD catch after he knew he got the PI call?

Moss could have gotten to that ball and had a TD. Difficult catch, but for the best WR's a pass they just don't stand around for a while it hits the ground 5 feet away.

Moss is a cancer. Take the knife to it.

I agree, you don't bring him in to learn the offense, he runs 3 diff routes, its pretty simply, and he beats most defenses with it. make sure you chuck it deep 3-5 times a game to him and you get a TD, that's how it works.

Moss clearly gives up on play after play. It's awful watching him pretend to run routes sometimes. However, I think that it's as simple matter of the Viks bringing him in... hoping to save their season. With the season down the tubes, they don't want to keep him around when they probably didn't plan on bringing him back next year. Also, Moss clearly butted heads with the coaching staff. There was just no upside for the Viks to keep him around.

No offense taken. But I have watched Moss play plenty. That's why I said he dogs it when he doesn't think he's going to get the ball. Not to mention how often he "short arms" passes when he thinks he's going to get hit. I'm surprised you've never noticed. As for betting your house on whether he's claimed or not, feel free to do so. But you'll have to find someone to bet with who thinks he won't be claimed. I said that I think he will be. Despite his many flaws, he's still a good deep threat receiver... when he wants to be...

Yeah. He's one of the few players who can be picked up in the middle of the season and be quickly integrated into the offense... for the reasons you mentioned. But whoever picks him up better make sure to keep him happy. Cause an unhappy Randy Moss is a cancer.
