Week 16 2024 who should I start thread **OFFICIALLY OFFICIAL** (3 Viewers)

a few decisions

QB, underdog where I need to max and will take a risk
Tua vs SF
Richardson vs Tennessee
Penix vs giants
Leaning AR

QB evenly matched SF, pick 2
Caleb vs lions
Bryce vs cardinals
Brock at dolphins
Richardson for sure in that scenario, IMO.

I think a lot of people will lean Brock in the second choice but, personally I would risk it with Caleb. The Lions defense is decimated and they're the #1 scoring offense in the league. If Caleb is ever going to put up a big game, this is the week.

IMO

Standard league Need one:

Kincaid vs NE
Strange vs LV
Freiermuth vs Bal
Hunter henry vs Buf
Ertz vs Phi?
I could try to make the argument for Freiermuth but, after last week I think I would have to go with Strange.

Right?
Yes but I have Barkley and bijan and have scored the most points in the league so I was thinking Freiermuth for his safer floor?? thoughts? Note , I have Njoku but just looking for back up plan in case he doesn't go and not sure about new QB in Clev?
Muth is a fine option in a good matchup. He would definitely be my next choice. But six targets in a game you're trailing from start to finish,. without your #1 wr is concerning for me. He seems more TD dependent than Strange, IMO.

I need two in the SF. Brock over Bryce?

Yes. At least we know Brock has upside. Bryce although playing well, relatively, IRL is barely a game manager in fantasy.

semifinal choices

.5 ppr decent underdog
Pacheco vs Hou (maybe wait for Mahomes status?) or J Ford at Cin
Also J McMillan at Dal or B Strange at LV?

If Njoku is good to go you can’t bench him

Strange vs LV or Njoku vs Cin?
With DTR at QB I'm off Browns pass catchers.

And, while I have a hunch about Caleb's opportunity this week I think Nix is a more proven commodity.

Trying to solicit advice for TE:
I roster Njoku and rolled w/ Ferguson last week
Looking to drop Ferguson w/ the following available:

Freirmuth
Strange
Dalton Schultz
Okonkwo
or hold Ferguson?

Yuck, I have to pick one of three in ppr. Currently using the he's due gambit and stacking Jayden Reed with Jordan Love.

  1. Jayden Reed vs New Orleans [Monday]
  2. Jaylen Waddle vs SF
  3. Rhamondre @ Buffalo

I also have access to the Herbert/McConkey stack.

Standard Scoring + PPR

Starting Jefferson and Nabers at WR

Then I need to choose for FLEX:

  • Ladd
  • Kupp

Don't love Thursday night games and not sure if Ladd is still banged up and/or how banged up Herbert is?
Den tough DEF

Can Kupp rebound? and is there a concerted effort to get him the ball? LA on the road

Strange for me. I’m starting him over Ferg this week.

.5 PPR

Daniels vs PHI
Baker @ DAL

McMillan @ DAL
ETN @ LV

I have White in at RB so I would potentially have 3 Bucs if that matters in your choice.

Standard scoring Non-PPR League:

Need 1 of these for flex:

Stevenson vs @BUF - Game script may be a problem here, especially in non-ppr
Miller vs @GB -I don't think Kamara plays but I'm really not sure how good this kid is
Ford vs CIN - Best matchup on paper

Defense:
Broncos @LAC - Hard to sit them, but I do have the Vikings
Vikings @SEA - With Smith hobbled or out, their defense may cook

Thoughts?

Lost Montgomery this week so I need a PPR flex option.

Gus Edwards v Denver
Craig Reynolds @ Chicago
Cole Kmet v Detroit

At the moment I have Gus in because I think he is the short yardage guy for Denver.
Tough choices here, I have Gus and Kmet in a PPR and would be less than thrilled to have to pick between the two. Anything else out there?
Not in this league. We really scrape the bottom of the barrel and I am out of FA budges so, even if there was talent out there (Sione Vaki? Kimani Vidal?) it is unlikely I will get it when waivers run.
Coker or Patrick?

Of your choices I'd take Cmet and hope for a high scoring game.

Pretty easy IMO (assuming 1/25 and 4 pt TD)

ARich

Caleb in a shootout and Brock because he's 10x better than Bryce.

HELP!!

Afraid to roll with Geno Smith and his bum knee. My only options are:

Anthony Richardson vs TEN
Bo Nix @ LAC
Bryce Young vs ARI
Caleb Williams vs DET
Cooper Rush vs TB
Drake Maye @ BUF
Mac Jones @ LV
Michael Penix vs NYG

I listed them alphabetically so as not to sway anyone.

.5 ppr

Have Kamara and his handcuff Miller vs GB which is unfortunately on mnf

Should I wait and use whichever one gets the start or put Shakir vs NE in my flex instead

I think if Njoku plays i have to start him against CIN correct over all these?
I picked up Strange as a backup plan (after using Smartt last week) but if Njoku plays he’s in my lineup. Strange didn’t actually have that great of a game last week (especially in non-PPR). He just got fed a bunch of low-value targets.

My instinct when facing ambiguous situations like this is “Dance with the fella what brung ya.” I’d rather go down with elite TE I’ve been using all season than gamble on a guy I had never heard of before a few weeks ago

Better D for week 17:

* PHI vs DAL -- PHI arguably the best D in the league without doubt. At home. DAL offense has shown some spunk lately. Could put up points. Rush could turn it over though.

* MIA @CLE -- Miami D playing decently and they'll face a non-Winston led team that is now minus N. Chubb. Probably a must win for Miami. However, if it's cold weather in CLE Miami could turtle.

* TB vs CAR -- TB rolling right now and the D has looked better. Surprisingly turned LAC over a few times. CAR and B. Young had been playing well, but reverted back to old form against the DAL D.

Which?

Thanks

QB-premium scoring league (6pt passing TDs, 0.25 points per completion; net effect is to elevate pocket passers over running QBs)

Nix @ LAC
Stafford @NYJ

Nix has been solid for me over the back half of the year, but I’m leaning Stafford. Jets aren’t the same scary matchup they were earlier in the season, whereas Chargers are still tough. Meanwhile Stafford with all his weapons healthy has a better upside

Non-PPR, pick one:

Higgins vs Cle
Adams vs Rams
Jennings @ Miami

Been facing this dilemma ever since everyone got healthy/past their bye. I have Nico and Evans locked in, and then have to choose between the other three for my final spot. Last week I chose poorly (Jennings) but fortunately survived and made the semis. I’m leaning Higgins, but it’s hard to ignore how well Davante has been doing lately

IMO it's gotta be Richardson or Nix because I think they bring the most upside. Nix is a more stable option but he is running a lot less lately. Richardson otoh is still running a good deal.

I probably go with Richardson because it's a better matchup at home and in a full week

If I was going to go purely by hunch I kinda like Caleb this week. The Lions defense is decimated and their offense is the best in the league. It's a nice setup for Williams. I'm not entirely confident in him after such a disappointment against a suspect Minnesota pass defense. But still, Caleb has the best opportunity IMO.

Good question. I was looking ahead as well and think Miami could be a good play. As of now the weather looks ok. Going to see how CLE does against CIN to help me decide.

.5 ppr

Have Kamara and his handcuff Miller vs GB which is unfortunately on mnf

Should I wait and use whichever one gets the start or put Shakir vs NE in my flex instead
I think you should have clarity on Kamara by Sunday.

If Kamara is ruled out or you're truly uncomfortable with his status then yes, I would play Shakir over Kendre.

But, IMO Kamara is worth risking it for.

Obviously big game - non ppr standard. Its the whack a mole WR2 again w a twist in the flex spot. I currently have Guerndo @ Miami at flex so if you pls see anyone in the list below that is a better play at flex let me know:

Need a WR2 plus if a better play over Guerendo:

DJ Moore vs Lions - has scored a TD vs Lions in 3 straight
Keenan Allen vs Lions - has a total of 248 yards 16 rec and 4 TDs last 2 games vs Detroit (last yr w Chargers and this year w Bears)
Shakir vs NE
Addison @ Seattle

I do have Charbs and Ford as options at flex but like Guerendo more

TU for a fun yr hopefully another question nxt week 😎🎄🎁🎄🎁

Flex in 0.5 PPR

Miller vs GB (assume Kamara is out)
Thielen vs ARI
Ridley vs IND
I think Thielen is on a nice roll and he has a solid matchup. Green Bay at home with no QB help is a tough prospect IMO. Ridley isn't an option IMO, way too inconsistent.

Thielen.

Philadelphia. So much so that I won't even offer reasoning.

Glad you mentioned Smartt. In TEP I'm debating on starting him over Ferguson, Likely, Ertz.

Fergie has a good matchup, but he's had great matchups for the last couple weeks and has done nothing. Zero TDs on the year also. Ertz is concussed and Likely (who did good vs Pitt last time) who has the huge upside but terrible floor.

I have Lamar so stacking could be tempting. I'd just rather not put all my eggs in one basket.

Kinda hoping Dissley plays to take the Smartt option off the table

Have to start my 4 WRS (Jefferson, CD, Nabers, GWilson)
Have to start Achane
Probably should start Bucky but Dallas D has been absolutely stingy the last month vs RBS. Curious if I get aggressive/risky and run Charbs or K Miller out there IF KW3/Kamara are ruled out (I think they both will be)

I lean Stafford as well but I can see why it's close. Have you checked weather in NJ?

Davante all the way for your second choice. He's seeing 10 targets/game going 6-81-0.6. He's still a legitimate stud wr.

QB
Geno v Min
C.Rush v TB
B.Young v Ari

I don't trust a gimpy Geno to be mobile enough against the Vikings D. It's a sad situation but I think Rush against TB this week and Young against TB next week is the play.

PPR Flex
R.Stevenson @ Buf
R.White @ Dal

I think it's easy to imagine a game script that limits Stevenson's upside. White is the lesser half of a 1-2 punch, but should be good for 10+ points in PPR.

TE
T.Kraft v NO
B.Strange @ LV

Kraft has been my guy all year, so I've weathered the highs and lows...but I really want to start the shiny new toy with Strange. Am I chasing points in what appears to be a good situation and matchup?

Yup. You're the play the better D guy vs. getting cute with matchups and lessor Ds. Thanks!

TU for a fun yr hopefully another question nxt week 😎🎄🎁🎄🎁
I think it has to be Guerendo, doesn't it? He gets volume and has a few splash plays under his belt too.

For WR, it's really a coin toss but I do lean to one of the Bears guys with the Lions defense as injury riddled as it is. Which one? I honestly don't know. Probably lean DJ by a hair just because I like his big play ability more. But Keenan is a great option too.

QB
Geno v Min

I'd start White & Kraft. I just think they are better players on better teams. But I could be wrong.

Have to start my 4 WRS (Jefferson, CD, Nabers, GWilson)
Have to start Achane
Probably should start Bucky but Dallas D has been absolutely stingy the last month vs RBS. Curious if I get aggressive/risky and run Charbs or K Miller out there IF KW3/Kamara are ruled out (I think they both will be)
Personally I stick with Bucky. Dude has been balling.

I'll start

Sam Darnold @ Seattle
Tua Tagovaiola v SF

I'm leaning Darnold but it feels very close to me.
It's Darnold all the way for me.

I don't understand how the Dolphins offense is so bad some weeks given all the speed they have. The game against the Texans was ripe for points. I appreciate a tough defense and what not, but still. I just don't feel like I can trust Tua if I have another solid option--you do.

Lost Montgomery this week so I need a PPR flex option.

Gus Edwards v Denver
Craig Reynolds @ Chicago
Cole Kmet v Detroit

At the moment I have Gus in because I think he is the short yardage guy for Denver.
I agree it's Gus, but I don't feel good about it.

He's TD dependent. But given your other options, agree he's the play.

6pt TD's
Stafford vs Jets
Rodgers vs Rams
Rush vs Buccs
Feels like it's about a coin flip between Stafford and Rodgers.

Rodgers has the slightly better matchup.
I think Stafford is a better actual QB at this point in their careers.

I feel a little better about Stafford, but can't fault you if you like Rodgers better.

PPR Flex:

Jonathan Taylor v Ten (#25 v RBs)
Terry McLaurin v Phi (#1 v WRs)
Malik Nabers @ Atl (#30 v WRs)
Courtland Sutton @ LAC (#23 v WRs)

Currently rolling with Taylor almost certainly because he's a high volume guy, it's a good matchup which the Colts absolutely need and, I am hoping that his knucklehead play last week motivates the hell out of him.
Really tough choices across the board.

Hard to sit any of them.

I think I'd go with Taylor too. Feels like the Colts should dominate that game and he should see plenty of volume closing the game ot.

2 qb .5 ppr
Flex spot:
Jeudy with DTR at qb vs the Bengals
Or
Jauan Jennings vs Miami

Same league…pick my starting RBs (2):
Najee vs Baltimore
Tracy vs Atlanta
Etienne vs Vegas

I also have Sincere and Jaleel Mcglaughlin on my bench although I doubt either plays this week

Waiver wire is Keandre Miller/Justice Hill/Ty Johnson/Craig Reynolds/Mostert/Estime/Herbert and other fodder
Bench Jeudy. Not trusting any Browns with DTR at QB unless I'm desparate.

I think it's Najee and Tracy. I love ETN, have a lot of him. So hard to trust him this year.
Baltimore gives up passing yards, points. I would expect Najee to get some red zone looks.

Tracy: Lock is back this week. I tihnk that fares better for Tracy.

6 point passing TD

Bo Nix @ Chargers (14th vs QB) (Thursday night)
Jared Goff @ Bears (1st vs QB)

Lions D is insanely banged up, so Bears might be able to put up points and force Goff to keep up. Or the Bears might just stink. I also don't like Goff out in the cold. But Goff has been playing very well lately. Current forecast is 28 degrees and 8 mph winds, so pretty good for December in Chicago.

Nix has a better matchup, but he's been more shaky lately.

Full PPR - pick 3 RB's

Chase Brown vs Browns (5th vs RB)
James Conner at Panthers (32nd vs RB)
Jonathan Taylor vs Titans (17th vs RB)
Bucky Irving at Cowboys (25th vs RB, but playing better lately now that injured guys are coming back)
Jerome Ford at Bengals (16th vs RB - DTR at QB might mean more running and more dump offs to RB)

Full PPR - pick 3 pass catchers (WR and TE are the same position for us)

Ja'Marr Chase vs Browns (26th vs WR)
Cooper Kupp at Jets (6th vs WR) - I wasn't please with Kupp's goose egg last week, but I survived it
Terry McLaurin vs Eagles (1st vs WR - also the Saints gathered 8 sacks last week vs Commodores)
TJ Hockenson at Seahawks (20th vs TE)

QB
Geno v Min

B.Strange @ LV

I agree about Rush and White.

I could easily see starting Strange after what he did last week. Kraft has a pretty high variance himself.
