Week 4: Waiver Wire Pickups (2 Viewers)

WW guys that YOU are able to roster are really dependant upon league size and roster spots. So as usual, the over the top, this guy shouldn't be available in anyone's league are annoying as $I-Iit.

I like Edelman and Moore as WR2 or flex options depending on your fantasy rosters. Lance Moore averaged around 70 yds and 0.8 tds per game the last time RBush was out. Who knows if the Saints OC uses Moore for those same Reggie routes until Reggie returns, but based on past performance Moore is worth an add. I like Edelman using the same logic. With Faulk out, and some hints than Edelman will be used in the backfield on passing situations, he could be a very nice flex guy in PPR leagues if he's on the wire.

Dante Rosario. He was 3-47 last week and almost caught a 40 yard TD that was juuuust out of reach and off his fingertips.

Look for Clausen to go to him more than Moore did, as his security blanket. He'll be the de facto WR2 in Carolina this year and will start to get noticed after a busy game against Cincy today.

A guy in my league dropped Felix Jones for Tolbert. He was on waivers up until this AM and I've added him. I've got him as my RB #3 behind Jamaal Charles and DeAngelo. A bit surprised that he's available

and on the week 4 waiver topic, i'll be looking more @ who is being dropped for the recent hype. weeks 4-6 is when it gets interesting. last year in a 14 team league someone was kind enough to donate Mendenhall to the wire around this time.
you're right, i love to target underperforming players i think will have good overall seasons around this point too. week 3-6, if an owners "draft studs" haven't performed well or in some cases even just average, those owners will be much more willing to part with them for a WW player thats been producing since week one. had an owner panic and drop shonn greene for donald brown in my work league. No way did this kid look that good at the end of last year and be this bad at the start of this one. on topic tough. K. Williams is just screaming to become the next shanahan RB out of obscurity and a quality fantasy producer. Portis holding up all season isn't a likely scenario.stud players i'd keep an eye on for trade puposes: Drew Brees is having a solid, but not spectacular start to his season. if his owners went big on him early expecting him to win them some games, it isn't happening yet.

the Moore call is looking a little better than the Edelman call right now

Lots of (mostly) non-rostered RB's got on the field today. Depending on the outcomes of some injuries their value will vary. Looking ahead to week five, used as fill-ins, my preliminary ranking would be:

Green-Ellis (at Miami, not a great match-up, but could get the most carries and at least Miami isn't Pittsburgh)

McGahee (he isn't very good and at Pittsburgh is as bad as it gets but best shot at getting in the endzone)

Darby (at home against the Seahawks who have looked good at home and bad on the road so far)

Torrain (split with Portis best-case, worst-case he never gets another carry, at Philly, too uncertain)

Blount (doesn't play next week, TB hasn't shown they can run yet, lot of options to get carries)

maroneytoraindemaryius thomas
Demaryius Thomas shouldn't be on anyone's waiver wire. If he is then you should go get him. As for Ryan Torrain, all I'm gonna say is the only way that happens is if KW is injured. RT did not produce in preseason like KW did. Shanny doesn't think RT is as good as KW is because he sent RT to the practice squad while keeping KW on the active roster and used KW last week. The RT train won't get out of the station. You picked the wrong horse and should be on the KW bandwagon
portis 7 carriestorain 7 carrieskw 0 carries

Darby from Stl depending on SJax injury status.
You'd have to be desperate to do that. Even jackson has issues scoring as the Rams RB and I have a hard time believing Darby breaks 60 yards rushing. That's a low upside and very low base if you ask me.
How shallow of a league do you need to play in for a possible starting RB who catches passes to not have value? In competitive 12 team or higher leagues, Darby could have some definite value going forward if SJax is out for a bit.

I still like Heyward-Bey, though not as much as some of the other players on this thread. He saw 12 target last week and 10 this week, Gradkowski is throwing to him.

Another vote for Darius Heyward-BAy. I saw the game. DHB is getting a lot of targets from Bruce. For 3 straight redzone plays, Bruce threw to DHB (who obviously did not catch anything). His final states coudl have easily been 100 yds, 1 TD (the CB was called on Pass interference TWICE on long bombs)

Good observations. I'll add that DHB has been getting held or interfered with all year long. He has a first step that is explosive off the line, and it makes a lot of DB's nervous. But his fatal flaw is he needs to work on catching the ball better. One one play where Grads zipped the ball low, DHB batted it up and it turned into an INT. I wished that they still allowed stickum like the old days.He is clealy getting the RZ targets, and the TD's will be coming. He got targeted 11 times today, and 13 last week. If had not been interfered with or held, agree that he would have gotten 100+ and a TD. If DHB is still on your wire, going forward he provides the combination of talent + opportunity, and even better still, red zone opportunity.

Maurice Morris, as it looks like Best might not go this upcoming week against GB. Kevin Smith in deeper leagues.

ROTOWORLD

INJURY: Lions RB Jahvid Best, toe

IMPACT: Best told the Detroit News that his Week 3 injury was unrelated to the toe trouble that landed him on the Week 1 injury report, but whether new or old, the bottom line is that the injury knocked Best out of commission on Sunday. "I played one play after [the injury] and it wasn't the same, so I didn't think I could go," Best said. The Lions are essentially Castle Grayskull (i.e., an impenetrable fortress) when it comes to injury-related information, so don't expect much in the way of clarity regarding Best's Week 4 prognosis. Similarly, don't expect much help from backups Maurice Morris and, if active, Kevin Smith – neither would be a very appealing option against Green Bay unless your team is truly decimated by injuries and/or byes next week.

(Update: Shortly after this column was published Sunday night, Lions beat writer Dave Birkett reported that Best believes he has sprained toe ligaments, a.k.a. turf toe, a.k.a. not good news for his chances of suiting up in Week 4.)

Stl plays Sea and Det next two games. Matchup is good for bye weeks.
Seattle is currently #5 against the run.
well, maybe they figured out how to contain gore, but this is darby we're talking about.

To be fair with Ivory, most of the plays he was in on were obvious run plays where the Saints just tried to slam up the middle. His first run of the game he looked pretty good on, he also looked pretty good pass blocking when he got the chance, which is important if he wants a bigger role in this offense.

Great observations. DHB is obviously being targeted, and while the pass int calls won't show up in the stat sheet and will not help fantasy owners this week, it does go a long way toward DHB continuing to be a hot target for Gradkowski. DHB is playing more confidently and with the team's confidence.

Lawfirm may be worth a look depending on your depth. NE plays Buf. again wk 15

I would imagine were talkin leagues larger thn 12 perhaps. NE imho has a rather porous Def and SOS isnt the best for rushing perhaps ie Miami, Balt, Minn, Pitt, Jets, Chi etc

imo, BJGE is the man to pick up if you need a RB. 16 carries for 98 yds and a TD is good work. Everything is pointing towards him carrying the load from here forward with all of the injuries and while the Patriots are a passing team, they often get big leads and will run the ball alot. Even yesterday in a tight contest he had a lot of carries and they are expecting plenty more next week. Just seems like a guy that's going to get numerous touches that plays for a good team, should be a good pickup.

Law Firm was plucked off the ww 2 weeks ago in my league. I thought this was about predicting the future.

Chris Ivory is even gone in my league but good to read that his play might not have been as his stat line (in case he gets dropped).

DHB is a good one b/c he's still out there, not too many league members watch the Raiders and his stat line doesn't tell the whole story (drawing pass interference calls).

Keller, Hernandez and Moeaki are all interesting options too - maybe still available in leagues which count TEs and WRs the same.

:wall: Sorry one of the suggestions wasn't applicable to your specific league. Maybe you'd like to post full rosters of all the teams so this horrible error isn't repeated in the future.

Maroney if he was dropped? He got some carries, but didn't have a whole lot of room. Got loose on a long catch showing moves

When is Moreno back?

Who knows. I would think at minimum...1 more game....more conservatively 3 or 4. I still haven't heard much info on the severity of it. Denver's schedule coming up: TEN, BAL, NYJ, OAK, SF, BYE.....that isn't a friendly group right there  . It gets a lot better after the BYE week though.*As a biased Moreno owner. I'm hoping Buck/Maroney/Co. suck it up hardcore until Moreno is healthy and he comes back at the right time to start gashing teams after the BYE week. Of course, that OLine ain't looking to great.

I picked up Maroney last week. I am interested in the injury status too of Moreno. I think McDaniel picked up Maroney because he was more worried about Mareno injuries than he is letting on. 2 bad hamstrings is hard to run with.

I wonder why Hillis is not listed in here at all. Perhaps in many of your guys' leagues he is owned. But in mine, he's still out there. My RB corps is decimated with Grant and Moreno. All I got left is Chris Johnson, Ricky "slippery hands" Williams and Jonathan "RBBC on 2nd worst offense in league next to Buffalo" Stewart.

Dropping Stewart for Hillis, as I'm sure I'll #1 on WW Order this week.

Felix Jones is also available in my league, as we have short benches.

Jacoby Jones might be a great play this week of AJ is out. He's already a decent option.

Mo Morris may do OK in Detroit, esp in PPR leagues. They do host StL in week 5.

As a Best owner, I'm bracing for a month or so without the guy (no link, I just try to prepare for the worst).

Well it is a good thing then that Buck/Maroney looked about as bland as dry toast yesterday.
