Weekly Waiver Wire Pick Ups - **CHAMPIONSHIP WEEK** Week 17 starts on Page 30 (1 Viewer)

Foreman could be a candidate for the role too... big back who ran for the Titans last year, and was already being looked at by the titans prior to Henry's injury.

Lots of options in play here... hopefully we have some clarity before waivers run Tuesday night.

I'll be happy if there is any sort of clarity with Titans backfield after a couple of weeks. Worst case scenario is really bad. I've already gone through merry-go-round of RBs with 49ers and Ravens. I can't really take doing this a 3rd time and figuring out whether its the outside guy, the undrafted free agent rookie RB, the 3rd down guy, or the veterans buried on depth chart / practice squads. Would be nice to cut bait quickly and not have to stash all of them for 6 weeks.

You got AP, McNichols, Sargent which seem to be in front. Also have Hilliard and Blasingame.

Dropped Boston Scott yesterday morning after Howard news for McNichols. Maybe won't put so bad after all. I think yesterday was the perfect storm for Scott/Howard against dumpster fire Lions.

I'll like his PPR appeal regardless as he's going to see field more whomever they bring in

McNichols and Scott are the ww headliners but place the former clear top of this week's wire with Scott competing with Howard/Hurts at goalline and Gainwell will be the play from behind back.

In hindsight, should have seen it coming. Lions run D so bad they make a lot of RBs who play against them sleeper pick worthy. Still takes guts and I think it seemed like a one week thing since Sanders wasn't a long term injury.

Agree, I'd rather have McNichols because I see long term potential in this backfield. Didn't see the same for Eagles.

I just read that McNichols used to be on TB but that he got outplayed by Peyton Barber so he was released. I think that's all I need to know about that.

It was cause he was having trouble picking up the playbook IIRC. I remember being pretty excited about him as a Bucs fan, cause he was pretty productive at Boise State and was sad when he was released.

College stats are misleading when you realize the opponents the players faced.

Jeremy McNichols sophomore and junior seasons before entering the NFL
25 games played, averaged 159 yards per game on 25.7 touches and scored 53 TD's

by comparison, Derrick Henry also came out after his junior year, so let's compare
29 games played, averaged 118 yards per game on 20.1 touches and scored 41 TD's

Perhaps Henry should have been backing up McNichols these last 2 seasons?
I'm just playing with ya  ;)

Trading for or picking up off of waivers Mr Tannehill ( he's on waivers in a 10team league).

He's the league-winning player of the year, averaging about 27ppg, now he will be relied on even more. going to see a significant increase in passing from the Titans from here on out.

HOU running game is like Stevie Wonder throwing darts...

Week 8
Rex Burkhead - 30 snaps, 7 touches
Scottie Phillips - 15 snaps, 7 touches
David Johnson - 11 snaps, 3 touches
Phillip Lindsay - 8 snaps, 3 touches

For those wondering whether to pick up DJ or Lindsay after Ingram left, the answer is neither.

sometimes you win, but most of the time you lose. 🤷‍♂️ guess it is still possible the offense gets righted with Tyrod and this distribution happened just because they were blown out… but I could also see this happen again in the future.

Adrian Peterson to the Titans....good add? maybe...maybe not. Can believe the Titans couldn't do better than this....

Need a WR now that Ridley is out and traded away Hollywood. --what's ya'll take on this group on my waivers:

  • V. Jefferson (Rams)
  • J. Agnew (Jax)
  • E. Moore (NYJ)
  • H. Renfrow (Raiders) I have Rugs
  • J. Crowder (NYJ)
  • A. Lazard (GB)
  • M. Gallup (Dal)
  • K. Golladay (NYG). --have Toney
Plus Falcon receivers Sharpe and Gage. --but with Ridley and Pitts, don't want to go there

My worry with Tannehill is that without Henry/ a run game, their offense could become much more 1-dimensional & easier for opposing defenses to plan against.

I'm intrigued on Crowder if Davis can't go this Thursday night.

Van Jefferson is starting to get more attention in the offense. Plus the Titans defense ranks 32nd against WRs. So, giddy up.

I picked him up pre-emptively last week after the DJax news came out, knowing I would need a bye-week fill-in for Godwin and that he would have the match-up against Tenn. If Golladay (or Michael Thomas) plays I may have a decision, but I'm kind of leaning toward VaJayJay* regardless. They seem to take a couple deep shots every game, and with Jackson out of the picture, he's the one they'll target.

* I just looked it up on Wikipedia and his full name is Vanchi LaShawn Jefferson Jr.

Need to stream both QB (hopefully last week before Wilson's return) and TE (Hock's bye) this week.

QB: I currently have Tua (vs Hou) and Jones (vs LV). Could also target Hill (vs Atl) or Tyrod (@Mia), assuming they're both back. I'm kind of leaning toward Taysom if I can get him, but Tua's probably the safest play. I also suspect that Taysom won't clear waivers, and I don't like to use my waiver priority on streamers.

TE: Down to 'Muth (vs Chi) and Arnold (vs Buf). Neither have great match-ups, so leaning toward 'Muth as the superior athlete. There's also Engram, who has the best match-up (vs LV), but I don't trust that dude at all. But I also constantly remind myself that bye-week TE filler is literally the least consequential lineup decision you make all season, so I'm not going to sweat it too much either way

Engram now that GB has interest...
Thought of that, but it's hardly a slam dunk. With the exception of Tonyan last year, GB has very rarely sustained a startable TE during the Rodgers Era, and even that was mostly due to an unsustainable TD rate. Then again, Engram isn't really a TE, so maybe you're picking him up as a potential WR2. Although those don't have a great track record in GB either ...

Bottom line: maybe he's worth a speculative stash, but this is still Evan Engram we're talking about.

I picked him up as a back up with the hopes Green Bay adds him. He looked good late in the game last night. We are looking at a significant upgrade at QB in GB and Engram is very athletic. I think it's a solid speculation pick up assuming you don't need to start him right away.

Muth has been trending up since Ju Ju went down. Ben loves him. I like Arnold too but I think he is more likely to have a dud game given who he plays for. Keep in mind Ebron didn't play last week.

Has there been any news of whether he's likely to return this week? They play on MNF so he'll have an extra day.

Probably wouldn't be a huge factor in whether I started Muth (his usage was trending up even before Ebron went down) but obviously a point in his favor if Ebron sits again

I haven't  heard much regarding his injury. I have heard rumors he could be traded. I still feel good about Muths targets rest of way. Ebron could steal some end zone targets.

Edwards with ruggs going to jail?
I had the same thought, although I have a personal rule against trying to capitalize on human tragedy for my fantasy team. No judgment toward anyone who does, I just feel like it's bad karma.

I do wonder how quickly this will play out. Will he get arrested immediately? Is this one of those things that won't get litigated until the offseason? Will the Raiders/NFL feel obligated to hold him out due to bad PR?

He's done. If I don't pick him up someone else will. I'm taking advantage of Edwards increased snap rate not a family's tragedy.

No offense, but if you got bad karma from starting a fantasy player you expected to do well going forward, then I kind of question the unfairness of that deity's judgement. You aren't a bad person for playing a game. Can't expect people to just not pickup a player who gets opportunities just because it was a result of a tragedy. You weren't wishing the tragedy to happen or had any part in that. Not even sure you are capitalizing on it. It just is what it is. If my boss died and I got promoted, I shouldn't feel guilty and quit... Bad stuff happens but the world must move on.

Wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't get to play until situation resolved. It's a distraction.

Yeah, I have Ruggs and Ridley     -- Edwards has been pretty consistent with % snap count ; since week 2 nothing lower than 74%.   I might go him, V. Jefferson or Crowder.

People on other forums bring up a good point that ruggs was only averaging 4 targets a game. Idk if this changes much. Although raider schedule is juicy post bye.

I get all that. I'm not saying it's a rational thing, and I'm certainly not saying anyone else should follow my lead, or even that I deserve any credit for my stance. (Incidentally, I also just checked, and he's already rostered in the only league where I would conceivably pick him up, so it's pretty much a moot point).

All I'm saying is when I hear bad news and my first thought is about the fantasy implications (which, NGL, it often is), it makes me feel kind of gross. So I have a rule that I don't act on it.

Just out of curiosity:  So does that mean you arent going after  AP because of the human tragedy that  broke Henrys foot?  Any other injuries out of bounds?  Just curious ...  no criticism.  Ok to pick up an Atlanta wr at this point?

Nah, I think it's the death part where I draw the line. I actually remember the moment I came up with this idea: the day of the Jovan Belcher murder-suicide in 2012. It happened on a Sunday morning, and I had a brief thought that it would be a good idea to pick up the D that would be facing the Chiefs that day. I ultimately didn't and then the Chiefs ended up winning the game behind some scrub QB (I think maybe Brady Quinn?) I could say that was karma, but like I said, I mostly just would have felt gross making that roster move.

Incidentally, when Kareem Hunt got suspended in 2018 I remember pouncing on Spencer Ware (lot of good that did me), and one of my league-mates good-naturedly ribbing me about it. I think he was mostly just annoyed that I beat him to it.

I suppose this Ruggs-Edwards situation isn't nearly as clear cut as the Belcher one was, and I'm not saying I have hard and fast rules around any of this. Can I honestly tell you that if Zeke got arrested for murder tomorrow and I had a chance to pick up Pollard, I wouldn't do it? I'm sure I would. It's mostly about regulating my own cynical instincts.

I think it changes where the Raiders look to get explosive plays. If Edwards gets one or maybe two more targets a game, that could be significant for him. If he takes advantage that could lead to more targets. Talent meets opportunity. It's possible that they turn to Z Jones and Edwards stays the same.

I feel a lot more comfortable trotting Edwards out there in place of A Robinson now. My receivers are horrific/injured in case your wondering why I still had ARob in there.

Honestly, I drafted both R. Moore and Edwards. Pretty much in the same situation but now R. Moore is maybe down a QB and Edwards is down a competition. If half the targets goes to Edwards he becomes a much better play.

Only player I ever avoided was Michael Vick.  I woulda started Charles Manson if he was any good, but I draw the line at animal cruelty!

I Zay no.
Derek Carr on Zay Jones: “He Works Harder Than Anybody on Our Team”

“Since he got to our team every time I ask him to throw, he’s there at 6 AM. Every time. He never missed one. So to see him come up with the game winner like that… I hope everyone in the world roots for Zay Jones because he works harder than anybody on our team.”

Jones was considered by some to be a long shot to make the Raiders’ roster, but by the end of preseason it was clear that Jones was ahead of John Brown (who ultimately asked for his release) and Willie Snead on the depth chart.

He`s going to get his shot ,i certain of it,and hes going to rise to the challenge

Ty'son Williams. I luckily added him last night since my league allows you to pick up players on bye whenever. But he is Baltimores best RB. He pops on film. My buddy who literally eats/sleeps/breathes football thinks he's coming out of their bye as the lead back.
