Well, this is addicting: Window-Swap (1 Viewer)

Window-Swap is simply a site where users from around the world can submit videos showing the views looking out from their window.  Length can be up to 10 minutes, and the videos can include sound.  Some of the views are rather bland; some are really awesome.

Took me a little while to also realize that not all (or any?) of the feeds are live.  So cool - makes one want to travel the world.

Seems I got a ton of views in Germany.   I think the addictive nature of this is that you keep clicking hoping the very next one you get is something extraordinary, weird, or some sort of serendipitous moment that happened to be captured in the scene.   I also found myself creating all kinds of interesting stories of what "Maggie's" life must be like based upon the view.

Just spent 20 minutes on that site. That was cool.

If you really want to waste some time, try and find the camera location via Google Maps based on the view that you see.

If you happen to come across the picture of Parkstein, Germany, I was able to narrow down where the camera is and determined it's most likely in this business/building.

Nix-Wie-Weg

Some would call that stalking, I call it a cartographic adventure!

After reading the second line, I had your post quoted and was about to call you out for your veteran stalker tactics.  Before I hit submit, I finished reading your post and noticed that you beat me to it.   :hifive:

What can I say, I love maps. As soon as I saw something specific in a picture that I could potentially track down, I Google mapped it and figured it out pretty quickly.

I started on one from Palermo Italy but that's going to be a bit more difficult so I'll save it for later. Unless someone else finds it first.

This reminds me of that game where it would randomly put you on some Google Streets view and you had to guess where in the world it was.  That was linked here a few years ago and stupid addictive.

Cool!

For fun, I tried to guess which country the window was in. I didn't get very many correct, but was happy when I did get it right.

I think I found another one.

Obersteinabrunn, Austria

Camera is in this house facing south.

Okay....I really have to get back to work.
I just tracked down Gabriel's place in Denver Colorodo at the corner of Blake St. and 24th street.  Right across the street from the Church of Scientology a couple blocks from Coors Field.  The window looks past the church towards the downtown skyline.  Gabriel has a dog and a cat and listens to, or watches, work out videos, but does not seem to be working out himself during the window video.

I just did it again...definitely random, although I did get the same lakeside window from MI again this time.
Next time we're up at our summer cottage, on a small lake in MI, I'll have to shoot a video.  I suggested my daughter shoot one as well ...she's on the 18th floor of an apt building in Chicago's south loop with a nice view looking west.

Silver Lake, just SE of Rockford, MI (and several miles NE of Grand Rapids).  Not the bigger Silver Lake that's further up the western shore of Michigan.
Gotcha.. the one you are on is about 45 minutes from me.. I'm not familiar with it though.  Been to Cannonsburg a bunch back in the day skiing, which is close by.

Much more familiar with the sand dunes Silver Lake.. Which ironically is also about 45 minutes from me.

I got a lot of windows from the UK.  Cloudy, cloudy, cloudy, cloudy.

Confirmed real videos.

I looked into submitting a video from my noisy NYC corner... they ask for 10min videos.

even compressed to nothing, that's a big ### video.

Yup, we're exactly two miles north of Cannonsburg.  We just finished two weeks up there, and it's feels great to get out and run those hilly country roads and catch some trails (vs. flat Chicago).

Just saw a sweet ocean view on the site from La Baule-Escoublac, France, wherever that is.  Picturing myself on the little balcony with a nice bottle of French wine ...
