Wet Hot American Summer - starts Netflix 7/31 (1 Viewer)

Do I need to watch the movie first?
It's probably a good idea.
Two episodes in and I'd say it's almost required. A lot of great shtick that references the movie. Watched it last week in anticipation of the series, very glad I did. Two good ones off the top of my head from Episode 2 that had me dying:

The girl who goes into the stall when she gets her period and comes out as Abby Bernstein

H. Jon Benjamin drowning in the ooze with the talking can of veggies (he voiced the can in the movie)
There were a bunch more I don't remember right now. Anyway, two episodes in, loving it so far.
Just watched the third episode, and absolutely LOST it when the Ronald Reagan beat the crap out of the guy at the end. So incredibly random. Count me in.

I finally finished it this past weekend. 8/10. Good to see the old gang again, I actually wish they had eliminated Camp Tiger Claw and the whole Jim Stansel courtroom plot and focused even more on the campers. Those were the parts I enjoyed most and there wasn't much need for more characters that weren't in the movie. Also, David Hyde Pierce must have had 17 seconds of total screen time. And people were worried about Bradley Cooper not being in it enough.

I'm in agreement with all of this. I thought Showalter and Rudd were slightly less funny in the show than in the movie, though neither was devoid of laughs.

Underrated line...

"This isn't the health inspector, he wouldn't call me at this time of day!"

agree with this 100%

I read some place that Bradley Cooper flew in and did all of his scenes in one day. Really have to hand it to him for being a part of this, he is a legitimate star pulling down $15-$20M per movie.
