Is it possible to install Titanium without the adult channels, or remove them once you have everything else installed?

The adult channels are hidden administratively. And then you still need the 4-digit pin to get to them.

i wouldn't worry about VPN, as far as i know zero people in the US have gotten in trouble for streaming on KODI.  That could change in the future but it's a bit of overkill at this stage.

Just getting into this.  We cut Dish over a year ago and do well with an OTA antenna and streaming Netflix and Amazon through game consoles but just picked up a Firestick to allow us to relocate the console.  Going to DL Kodi and was wondering which was preferred.  Gorilla?  Titanium?

Had  a $30 best buy card that expired 4/30 so ordered the new Roku 2016 stick. Should be here in a few days :excited:

so sick of using the terrible Samsung "smart" TV interface.
love, love, love the Roku stick! About 10 times faster then the Samsung "smart tv apps" and waaaaay better interface.

Between, OTA, Netflix, Amazon,  HBOGO, fxxnow, watch espn, NBA, ABC, FOX apps (lucky to have a cable login) have so much content to choose from I don't even have time to watch it all.

There are a lot of Kodi custom builds out there. Just do a search on Youtube. Narrow your search to within the last month.  I say this because there may be something out there that you like better.  The builds featured by "Husham" and "Dimitrology" on YT are safe/good because these guys have personally run them through and tested them on many different platforms.

As for Gorilla or Titanium, what Ive found is that Titanium has most all the same addons preloaded into it as Gorilla, plus some Spanish TV ones (which I deleted). I like the interface better than Gorilla.  It also has a separate "adults Only" profile that is hidden administratively and are not visible from the main build profile to keep them private, as they are in Gorilla.  Gorilla has them right there.

So if you have family members you wish not to have access to this area, Titanium is much better for this.

These builds really make things much easier to navigate for Kodi as everything is preloaded into categories.  You can always add more into it, if you have the memory available.

Good Luck

Oh, I was under the impression that this could be written right into the stick.  Is this only for computer application?  I'm just planning to plug it right into the TV.

For Titanium make sure you update to Kodi 16 first.

If you don't and it isn't working, update, then go back to program  addons and install/extract titanium again.

I'm having trouble getting it to download.  I've gotten the ES done, but the ARM file won't load.  I'll keep trying.  In the meantime, if I can't get it to work, any recommendations to stream the NFL draft?
This is the new build I am using.  I like it much better than the Titanium build because it's not so UK/Europe-based with the addons included and the main menu interface, and it also has the Adult section hidden and passcode locked.  This video shows how to load it with a clean Kodi download and through the Ares Wizard (contains many custom Kodi builds).  The build is a week old, but it is getting very good reviews. Perhaps this would work better for you.

So for any of the :nerd: out there, I held my nose and took the plunge into loading DD-WRT custom firmware onto my router to run OpenVPN @ the router. If I get TL;DR in this post, main take away is that this is not impossible, but definitely not for the faint of heart, and I reverted back to my TP-Link Archer C7 v2 firmware in the end after mild panic/impatience. I ended up going back to a L2TP VPN connection @ my router and am pulling 80-100 Mbps on the 802.11ac wireless on a ~150+ Mbps Xfinity Blast! connection, which for 2 layer tunneling and ease of setup @ the router will just have to work.

I was excited to try this out, and scared because a mistake can brick the router. As mentioned, I'm using a TP-Link Archer C7 v2 router, which has plenty of horsepower to run a VPN. Actually when I had DD-WRT still loaded, the OpenVPN firmware was utilizing ~1% or less of system resources, so there was no hardware bottleneck issue as can be the case with older equipment. The TP-Link Archer C7v2 (Archer because I don't feel like repeatedly typing that) is a cheap but sturdy 802.11ac router, which when setup correctly is insanely fast for local video streaming as compared to 802.11b/n standards. Setting up DD-WRT with their instructions was at the easier end of the moderate difficulty range. Tedious but if you follow directions you'll be fine. Once loaded, it's pretty neat software, blows the doors off stock firmware in terms of options available to the end user.

Unfortunately, I didn't realize until it was loaded and the non-VPN speeds were 80% lower and that this was a known issue with the DD-WRT firmware, as 802.11ac wasn't perfected yet for this router. Major league buzzkill, and it wasn't until I dove into the forums for ~2 hours that i was able to find this explanation in the middle of a 70+ page thread from some very advanced users. Also, there are bugs within the software that I encountered tweaking the 5ghz spectrum settings that have solutions, but also need to be researched as the bugs are encountered. Instructions to resolve can be poorly written, open to interpretation, assumed high level of knowledge, etc. Basically, you need to be really patient and willing to deal with speed bumps, it's open source software after all.

I signed up for a month with both PIA and ExpressVPN to be adaptable and optimize speed between servers and services on a trial and error basis. PIA supports OpenVPN and has config instructions, tedious but if you can follow directions you'll get it. Unfortunately, their speeds on OpenVPN @ the router are horrific compared to their PC client software, which I confirmed on my Mac after getting ~10Mbps @ the router on a PPTP connection and ~90+ via the Mac client config. ExpressVPN can't even be configured on OpenVPN, as the .ovpn config files they have on their site are meant for a software client not on a router, which must be manually keyed in. L2TP is very easy to setup @ the router, so I decided to revert back to that because it's just simple to setup. I thought/wanted to get 90-100Mbps on PIA via OpenVPN because it's 1/3 of the price for a full year as ExpressVPN, but the speeds were completely dreadful @ the router. I confirmed this is the case for many people via further forum searches vs. the PC/Mac client. I say earlier I had a mild panic reverting to the stock firmware because I was fried from the whole process, and it's a whole separate process to revert back. You can't just load stock firmware from TP-Link or your router manufacturer. It has to be stripped of code that validates it as OEM sourced software which is of course out there and somewhat easily accessible, but I started getting ants in my pants and just wanted to be done with it and couldn't figure out why the stock firmware wouldn't load onto the router correctly. I also got lazy and almost bricked the router not doing the resets as instructed one time in the many of trial and error. Full explanation of the "30/30/30" hard reset procedure on the DD-WRT website, but bottom line you need the patience of Job to not get frustrated with this or cut corners, because doing so can in fact render your router a paperweight.

It's good stuff, but the wild wild west to an extent and not perfected, so caveat emptor is 100% the case here. Good luck if you decide to dip your toes here, guys!

Yup.  He had the trick to get past the ARM file.  Like the non-UK base too.  Thanks.  Despite being a Bronco fan, you're an OK guy.

Having no luck finding any NFLN or ESPN on it that works, but the secret daddy channels came right up.

ETA - Castaway / Shadow / Sports is running (buffering like mad).

Just sign up for the Sling or Vue 7 day free trial to get ESPN tonight.

Nice work.  I'll be trying this to undo the damage I did last night by installing Titanium over an old version of Kodi.  I got my HTPC working Titanium, and wasn't a 100% sure it was the Kodi update that fixed it.  If I had to sideload and keep running down to my PC downstairs I wasn't going to give it a go until this weekend.

Try going into the Build in Kodi and under "Maintain" click on "Delete Cache" and then "Delete Packages" and see if that clears things up.  I typically run those two programs in Kodi anytime buffering becomes an issue.

Try "Live TV" tab and then "CCloud".  Then chose "English" and there is an ESPN link on there. Im watching it right now.

Just did the cache and packages, but no dice.  Maybe that my router is 30' and two walls away.  Works fine for my consoles and my laptop and phones . . . ?  Dunno.  Still broken and dirty, but better than nothing.

Does mbman have exodus installed in it?
Yes it does. Thanks bronco, the ES Explorer trick is money.   For those of you trying this on fire stick the force close "without exiting through the main menu" is important.  Just hold down on the home button until you get an option screen to go to settings.

I installed mbman a couple of days ago.  I'm not sure if I like it or not yet.  I was hoping for something more like a search button under the Movies category that would search all of the sources.  Is there one I'm missing?

Try the SALTS addon..  Stands for Search ALl The Sources..I think its on there. Does essentially what you are talking about.

I haven't read back through the whole thread, but wondering if I could use VPN to have my address come through as Minneapolis then sign up for Playstation Vue and get MLB, NBA and NHL covered by local Fox Sports channel. Would definitely be cheaper than buying all the packages. No locals for Mpls on Vue, so probably can't cover NFL that way though.

Short answer: probably not.

Long answer: Vue appears overly sensitive to IP address changes, even if they're in the'correct' region. If your VPN gives you a relativity static IP, you may be OK.

Kind of weird, but this afternoon at work, I noticed that Sling had added a live FOX broadcast channel streaming (not our local FOX, but it had the Talladega race going live. Pretty sure it was FOX 5 out of DC, 3 hours away). But it's not coming up here at home an hour later. Not sure what's going on, but that'd be cool if Sling is experimenting and ends up adding a live FOX channel, even outside of the current select markets, meaning a good chunk of live sports.

Anyway, Sling subscribers, you might check to see if have a live FOX popping up. I'm also seeing a DIY network free trial on for May. Hopefully, that might be coming to stay.

What is a typical usage per month for you cord cutters who stream a good amount of tv and movies?
I'm probably atypical in that I'm the only one in my house and I don't stream a ton of video (maybe 5 or 6 hours of TV shows per week), but I use about 250GB/month.

Same here. Local fox is on my sling.

I'm really impressed. For same price as mlb.TV package I get a lot more stuff.

Yikes.  Ok this is a cost I did not take into account when cnsidering whether to cut the cord or not.   I knew I would spend more to up my data rate but I never considered the data cap.   TV is on a ton in my house.

I watched that Husham's install vid of titanium and went through it... However titanium wasn't listed as one of the builds when i got to the part where i pick which build i want to install.

I think it's pretty amazing sling is offering what amounts to the same package that Uverse U200 offers for $40 compared to $119.  You pay a lot for regional sports access, but that's fine with me. I only got it for the regional sports.  The rest is gravy.

I haven't found any drawbacks yet except that if you go the unblocker_mlb.tv route you also don't have to get the local commercials.  They just go to dead air which is nice.  Still this is cheaper, and way more stable than mlb.tv.  Way more.

That amount sounds ridiculously high for the amount he's watching.  I'm typically around that amount as well, but we stream far more (including netflix and amazon prime and such), and my wife telecommutes from home.

Hmm, do you have any feeling for how I can estimate this?

My wife is going to have a nutty if I cut the cord and still end up paying as much as I was because I did not estimate the data anount usage cost correctly.

HD video can range anywhere from 1 GB an hour to 10GB+.  Standard def stuff is typically about a gig an hour or less - much depends on the compression methods used.

Who's your internet with?  Do you have a cap and then overage charges?
