What are Kaepernick owners doing? (1 Viewer)

It is really strange how his rushing numbers have bottomed out. He definitely looks EXTREMELY timid and almost scared when he takes off running. Do you guys think that maybe all that fuss Harbaugh made before the GB game about Kaep taking hits has made him more conscious of it, making him run a lot more cautiously?

The SF defense is still too solid, so not a lot of garbage time. Glad I picked up Pryor late in the draft, he could be the garbage time king when he gets healthy. He looks very close to busting out. Just barely missed a couple of additional TD'S the past 2 weeks. I bet he starts connecting on those soon...Hope coach Allen still lets him scramble after that concussion...

Colt McCoy is the backup QB. For my sake I don't ever want to see him on the field.

I definitely agree with that, but there have been many times where it looked like he could have easily outrun a defender, but he seems to be thinking instead of just playing ball. Not saying he should take stupid chances, but last year he would have just taken off for a big gain.

Yeah, but teams are kind of prepared for Kaep to run now, and I think the 49ers are trying to develop him into making broken plays with his arm more than his legs. The plays where he did break big runs were more by design. They did that with Alex Smith as well, but not as much.

If St. Louis had ANY offense whatsover, Kaep would have had over 300 yds and 3 tds. They shut it down for the entire 2nd half.

If you have a good team around him, he's still a servicable QB. He's certainly got more upside than what's on the ww. We saw we is capable of doing in week one.

I agree with Sox here. I'm in a start 2 QB situation so I really do not have any choice but to stick with him. I'm sure I wasn't the only Kaepernick owner who "over" thought his week #1 performance. Week #2 too low. Week #3 closer to what I expected...and as mentioned....if Rams were even close in the game...his totals would have been higher. In my league, a mid 20 point game for a QB is what I hope for on a regular basis. So I'm not bent out of shape over a 19 point effort. Now if everyone else on my team goes average or below....then I will lose Week #4.

I'm going to try to make a trade for Rivers, he's backing up Manning (The Good One) on owner's bench. I've also picked up Geno off the wire. As much as I hate to keep 3 QBs, Kraps has forced me into a 3 QBBC with EJ & Geno in rotation. Yup. Not what I was expecting when I drafted him. Fat lot of good waiting on a QB does when you have to use your WR/RB depth to trade for a startable QB in Week 4 ...

huh. His week 3 was worse than his week 2

One league im picking up pryor vs sd for next week and will reevaluate after that. Maybe make a trade. The other league picking up schaub but i dont see any trade possibilities

If it is dynasty I am buying low, I still like his talent and Crabtree or another weapon will be back next year. Redraft I am selling and trying to use this mediocre game against the Rams as a selling point, his weapons are average at best this year and he seems hesitant to run.

FWIW, the schedule really opens up after the Week 5 game vs. Houston. There's plenty of reason for optimism still.
Your avatar and location exude unbiased, objective confidence.
Fair point. But objectively there's no denying that the early season schedule is a whole lot tougher than the second half of the schedule. It just seems like the wrong time to be selling. If anything, maybe people should be buying low right now. Here is the schedule with the current NFL Power Ranking for each team:

Wk 1: Green Bay (10)

Wk 2: @Seattle (1)

Wk 3: Indianapolis (9)

Wk 4: @St. Louis (23)

Wk 5: Houston (14)

-------------------------

Wk 6: Arizona (24)

Wk 7: @Tennessee (17)

Wk 8: @ Jacksonville (32)

Wk 9: BYE

Wk 10: Carolina (19)

Wk 11: @New Orleans (4)

Wk 12: @Washington (26)

Wk 13: St. Louis (23)

New Orleans is the only team in the top half of the Power Rankings for the entire second half of the fantasy season. I'm not saying that an easier schedule fixes everything, but it certainly can't hurt.

If you look at any of the great qbs, they all have periods of ugly football early in their careers. It's a natural part of the learning curve. I have full confidence that Kap has the brains and the talent to continue to improve.

That being said, he may disappoint in redraft fantasy.

It looks like he is trying to think too much. I noticed a couple of times last night where he could have had HUGE gains on the ground and missed the opportunity. He is trying really hard to keep his eyes down the field and not take off running.

Haven't been watching the game, but when your fantasy QB plays for a team that scores 21 points in an hour, you check the box score to see he's done approximately nothing, and it's not the least bit surprising, I believe it's time to bid farewell.

The flat-brimmed hat and abundance of tattoos probably aren't a good sign you've picked the right fantasy QB either.

0-5 train approaching (I know, you all care...). My point is that I've stuck with him through these weeks and started him in each one. The points I'm losing vs. replacement value on the wire have cost me at least 3 close weeks.

The run game is looking great, and the passing game is just not clicking. He's not running like he did last season, and he might not need to. The problem I see is that the rest of the team is playing well enough in real life for his performance fantasy wise to not be an issue IRL.

I can get better performance off of the wire. I'm taking it.

:bye:

What I find weird is his performance against the Colts. Both Pryor and Wilson tore up the D on the ground. Kaepernick hardly did anything against them with his legs. I don't get it.

Harbaugh realizes kaepernick is not the passer everyone thought he was last year and is basically using him like alex smith. I traded for rivers in one league (and unlike the numbskull above i startd rivers). In my other league i started hoyer and theyre currently tied in points. Not sure what im doing there yet but clearly need to do something.

Started him again and luckily my opponent fell short so I will win despite of this turd.

Hoping I can get Foles but that's unlikely. May have to start Bradford or make a move. This goose is cooked.

Very lucky Rivers was on the wire in one of my leagues early in the season. Bid big on him and got him. Can't believe how bad this turd has been.

Kaep is playing like a jr high QB.

Hand off to a stable of running backs. Take a few inaccurate shots downfield. Manage the game.

What happened to the dynamic threat from the Super Bowl?

I am taking a complete shot in the dark, but I think Harbaugh got in the way. I think that guys ego tells him he is the smartest guy in the room and he micro manages every detail of the game instead of letting Kaepernick use his ability. I could be way off base since I don't watch a lot of 49er games.

or Kaep just isn't very good. Harbaugh got in the way when he decided Smith wasn't a "game changer."
