The hype inflicted most people. I was struggling with the decision of keeping Kaepernick this year (in exchange for my 10th round pick) to use as my QB1, while reading all these predictions about him being a Top 5-10 QB... eventually the hype got to me and I kept him. It afforded me the option of loading up on RB/WR/TE without needing to draft a QB in the first 9 rounds, but I'm paying for it.What are they doing? Probably wishing they didnt draft a QB who was all hype in the first place who had what, 8 total starts in his career? How did you think this would turn out? The league wasnt prepared for running QBs last year, now they are, now he is doing nothing. Thats how it works. Other then his 4 TD game last year he has done nothing and never had over 2 TDs in any other game. He had his second 3 TD or more game against the Packers this year and has only 3 TDs in his last 4 games.
Kaep is tied with Rodgers in QBR this yearRemember when Jaws said this guy could end up being the GOAT??

... Rodgers has played really well, just doesn't have crazy stats because they actually have a run game this year (100 yard rusher the last three games yahoo!!!).So you think Ron's statement was reasonable?Kaep is tied with Rodgers in QBR this yearRemember when Jaws said this guy could end up being the GOAT??

Kaep is not playing nearly as bad as this thread seems to believe. He had a great week 1, and would have continued that passing success if Davis hadn't gotten hurt. Literally his only receiving option for a couple weeks was an aging Boldin. He can't throw AND catch the ball!
People bailing are going to look stupid in a few weeks. Davis looks like the hammy issue is under control and the 49ers have the 31st strength of schedule left. Kaep is going to score a lot of points.
This is all fantasy predicated. Right now he is a bad "fantasy" QB but I think as an NFL QB he is doing just fine and the Niners record speaks to that.Kaep is tied with Rodgers in QBR this yearRemember when Jaws said this guy could end up being the GOAT??

Exactly - said as much earlier in this thread. Not unlike guys like Troy Aikman, Joe Flacco, etc., who have benefited from strong running games and defenses. This is all fantasy predicated. Right now he is a bad "fantasy" QB but I think as an NFL QB he is doing just fine and the Niners record speaks to that.
As a fan of the team, I never buy into media hype, and found Jaws' statement something you can read off the 49er page at Bleacher Report from one of those hack wannabe sports writers.Hang 10 said:So you think Ron's statement was reasonable?meyerj31 said:Kaep is tied with Rodgers in QBR this yearHang 10 said:Remember when Jaws said this guy could end up being the GOAT??

He's had one good game this season. He's pretty much been abysmal since. He was 6 of 15 last week and outside long pass to Davis, he was 5 of 14 for 49 yards. And that was a game the 49ers dominated both sides of the ball.
ETA: Also, does anyone really care about espn's 5 minute old QBR stat? I sure don't.
I'm not sure you know what this word means.kinghill said:Starting Kaepernick with confidence this week vs Arizona.
I would go with Foles if Vick is truly out.Anyone have the testicular fortitude to start him this week?
My other options are Foles or picking up Big Ben or Geno Smith.
He HAS to be due for a big game, right?

My plan at the moment is to start Henne over him in multiple leagues, but I'd concede if Shorts is out that could change my thinking.pollardsvision said:But he could have a fine week though. He won't have much trouble getting in the red zone and could certainly throw a couple of TDs.
Me too. At least he will throw & run and have an opportunity to score some points.CentralPA said:Thinking of starting Pryor over him despite the matchup with KC.
Interesting info. I had planned to start him hoping for the best but may reconsider. My plan at the moment is to start Henne over him in multiple leagues, but I'd concede if Shorts is out that could change my thinking.pollardsvision said:But he could have a fine week though. Reason I responded to post above is Kaep's red zone usage was the straw that broke the camels back for me. After 5 games he's attempted only 14 passes in the red zone and only 6 inside the 10 yard line. As runner he's only ran 3 times inside the red zone and just once inside the 10. Inside the 5 yard line no runs and 2 pass attempts.
Maybe it's because I have both on the same team but it's why I alluded to something earlier in this thread that Kaepernick is like the Chris Johnson of QB's. His output is terrible but you are scared to sit him due to big game/big play and both guys are basically non-existent inside the 10 yard line and especially so inside the 5.
Hmmm. You might be on to something with Henne. I might pick Henne up this week and play him over Geno.My plan at the moment is to start Henne over him in multiple leagues, but I'd concede if Shorts is out that could change my thinking.pollardsvision said:But he could have a fine week though. If rostering both or cutting Kaep was an option, I'd absolutely start Henne over him and feel pretty confident about it.Tried all week to trade for a qb but couldn't get anything done. Sticking with kap one more week over ww options in foles and henne. Don't like foles matchup and that's a running team too and I can never forgive myself if I start henne and he sucks.
i did the same. Foles looking goodLord help me plugged him back in over foles at 1159
