What are some movies most people consider bad that you like? (1 Viewer)

I'm pretty sure most people don't consider one of the greatest movies of all time to be bad.
Lotsa folk think its corny/hacky now

ETA: my pretty, turbulent, blonde wife was dying of cancer and i felt pretty stoopit watching helplessly as she wasted away when Gump came out so i related to the Jenny story and always will, but that whole era i was raving to folks about movies like Shadowlands & What Dreams May Come and getting a big "Huh?!?!" from them til i realized i was connecting with them on the "dying woman" level when they really werent very good movies

Hackers

This is actually an awful movie but I love it. Johnny Lee Miller, Angelina Jolie, and Matthew Lillard (among others) are hackers fighting the man. It’s full of late 90s cheese with supercomputers hundreds of times weaker than my phone. It’s amazing.

HACK THE PLANET!!
Good one.   One of my good friends is 2nd cousins to Matthew Lillard.  He's supposedly a cool guy and I'm hoping to hang out with him at some point so I can discuss Hackers in all of its glory.   :oldunsure:

The original Godzilla ("Gojira"...the original Japanese release now available with English subtitles, not the Raymond Burr American edit) gets lumped in with the rest of the generally campy series, but it's genuinely a good movie.  Admittedly it gets good rotten tomatoes reviews as more people become aware of this, but I'm sure most people still see 'Godzilla' and roll their eyes.

In the series' camp category, there are quite a lot of bad movies that don't even qualify as a guilty pleasure, but there are two that are top-of-the-line B movies:

"Godzilla vs. The Cosmic Monster" (my avatar says hi)

And maybe the most fun G movie ever made...

"Monster Zero"

Casting Nick Adams is what sets this movie apart from the rest.   His seamless interactions with his Japanese co-stars, him speaking English and them speaking Japanese, is lost in the English dub.  He's given the best lines in the series.  Giant alien spaceships transporting Godzilla and Rodan to Planet X in bubbles adds one of the best touches of "what the foxtrot?" in a series full of such moments.

I think most regular folks like the original Godzilla movies - to hell with the critics.

Maybe from a nostalgic childhood memory standpoint, but I doubt many adults would put one on nowadays.  Honestly, most of the movies do suck through the lense of adulthood and I'm one of the biggest fans of the series.

Still, those I highlighted are still very enjoyable even today.

And Gojira is a serious allegory to the horrors Japan faced in WW2.

I don't care about the ridiculousness of stealing the Declaration of Independence, give me some Nic Cage in National Treasure all day long.
We received a tip a few days ago that someone was going to steal the Declaration of Independence.

Do we have the name of the tipster?

Uh, there was no file opened. We didn't find the information credible.

How about now?

Just watched this with my son. He is 15 and thought it was hilarious.
I remember people HATING this movie when it came out.  Then HBO ran it on a nonstop loop.  I thought it was great.  I think some of his other movies are awful.  He's too much for me, but that was the sweet spot for me.

The original Gojira is really a dark film when you realize Toho was trying to reflect on having two atom bombs dropped on them less than 10 years before. The Americanized version with Raymond Burr lighten the tone up considerably.

I also have a special love for Monster Zero. The best guy aside from Nick Adams is the nerdy inventor who gets owned by the chick from Planet X.

But the Godzilla movie I will always stop to watch is Final Wars from 2000. It's got aliens, dopplegangers, hot chicks, Matrix-type fights, plus the captain is an American who carries a sword. The one alien keeps referring to earthlings as "cattle" :lmao:  I can't not watch it when it's on.

King Arthur movie with the guy from Sons of Anarchy

Total Recall (Remake with Colin Farrell)

Confessions of a Shopaholic

Coyote Ugly

Two for the Money

Leap Year

I Now Pronounce you Chuck and Larry

Final Wars has a great opening and the final act may be the best in the series, but everything between really drags.  Casting Dr. Serizawa and the lady from Planet X is a great hat tip to the original series.  Casting UFC champ Don Frye as the sword-yielding captain of the Gotengo really was brilliant.

Edit: The nerdy inventor in "Monster Zero" was good comic relief and his loud annoying device was one of child me's first lessons in foreshadowing.  But to me, the runner up to Nick Adams is the Controller of Planet X and those alien outfits.  Spectacular B-movie goodness.

Big Trouble In Little China.
I enjoy all of these. 13th Warrior is a top 20 all time movie for me. I'll watch Mr. Baseball and Big Trouble In Little China whenever they come on.

To the haters, I say "Shut up, Mr. Burton! You were not brought upon this world to get it!"

I have always liked Godzilla movies more than most people. There is something mesmerising about the sound it makes and the overall visuals of the best of this genre.

Kung Pow: Enter the fist

When the old lady rolls the baby down the hill I still lose it to this day. Or the stick part, that part is gold as well.

I just watched this one a couple days ago, but the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. I like the plot, I like the recruiting of the heros and I like that all the hero's are people from other stories.

The other one is RIPD. I story is bad, the acting is mostly bad, but for some reason I have seen it 8 times and still don't mind it.
Didn't read the OP. RIPD is one for me as well. AlsThe like LOEG
