What are your dreams for 2019 (1 Viewer)

My dreams are:

Retire from working 40 years in the cold Midwest to AZ

spend more time and spoil my 8 year old granddaughter

pray for peace between America and North Korea

Spend more time with my wife, as she is my best friend

volunteer to help the homeless have a better life

give up fanasty football as it consumes to much of my time

what do you caught ?

1. I'm buying a house. I'll put my chances of this at 99%. I'm going to put an offer on a place sometime this week. Even if that falls through, I should be good to go in the next 12 months.

2. My 2018 was marred by injury. This is the first year in ages that I didn't run a race and my lifting has fallen totally off. My shoulder feels way better and my knee feels okay, so hopefully I'll build back up to full strength. I'll give myself 85% chance here with the 15% being that maybe I'm just old. Father time is still undefeated and I guess you never know when today is your day to turn into Willie Mays falling down in the outfield. Maybe my day already happened.

3. I'd really like to start drinking and slutting around way less. This is a classic resolution that I'll stick with for a few weeks. I know I'd feel way better if I did, but it's like eating vegetables. I'll put my chances at 10% with intermittent bursts of living right. Maybe next year.

I plan to start rinsing the pizza cutter immediately after use.

I plan to do a better job of always putting my keys in the same place.

Now i just have to figure out what to plan for the whole extra day i just gained.

Parking in the same section of the parking lot at the grocery store probably buys me an extra day each year.

I just hope that soon we can stop all the hatred, racism, etc & also get rid of Trump & worthless politicians like him
I have a pretty good idea where you can start to make this happen.

I'm not sure if dream is the right way to put it but here are some thing I'm shooting for this year:

  • Continue what I've been doing to improve my health

Yoga - want to start doing that this year to help with flexibility, balance and core strength
  • Keto eating
  • Sleep - more and better sleep
  • Strength Training

[*]Work

  • spend more time on self-education to improve skills
  • something I implemented 2 years ago and want to continue is not constantly checking emails at night and weekends - somebody will call/text if it's urgent

[*]Family - most important but listed last

  • I already do a good job with a lot of time at home and with family but want to focus more on quality time (especially with my 17 year old who graduates in spring of 2020) and having everyone be present (limit devices)
  • Like many here, I have aging parents - we got some of their affairs in order the last couple of years but this year will be tackling where they live and consider moving them

Run a marathon / done 5 and 10k, have a ways to go here.

Kayak more / always enjoy it, rarely do it.

Stress less / will never happen, but I can hope.

Other random things I’m looking forward to...  finishing game of thrones, the new season of True Detective, reading my backlog of iBooks, and seeing Clemson in the title game.

Good one - I’ve been thinking of buying a kayak.  I’ve used my BIL’s a few times and it’s a lot of fun and good exercise.
We’re so close to Lanier that’s it dumb not to go more often.  I find it to be the most peaceful thing I can do.  We’ll kayak out to one of the islands, eat a sandwich, row around a bit, etc...  never had a bad time doing it.

We’re actually looking into two kayaks this weekend. Good sales this time of year on Craigslist - not something I look at often, but after Christmas and people need the garage space.

We're probably 18 months away but we're keeping an eye out for a lake house.  I plan to have 30% saved for the down payment, closing and any quick maintenance we want to do by the end of the year.  If the right deal comes up I'm not against withdrawing from my Roth.

We are somewhat close to Allatoona (15 minutes) so can do the same.  My BIL is on the lake so he can go out whenever he wants.

Any recommendations on kayaks?  I'll take a PM if we don't want to clutter the thread with KAYAK TALK.
