What do you expect out of Best this week? (1 Viewer)

Any thoughts on what to expect out of Best this week?

Does Stanton vs Hill make a huge difference in your opinion?

Buffalo's defense in general is pretty atrocious-they are giving up an average of 27 points to opposing RB's in my league. This could very well be Best's first 100 yard rush day. I'd say another 4-5 receptions for 50 yards is probably in the cards (he's averaging about 45 per game). Also, I'd be extremely surprised if he doesn't hit paydirt this week. That's 23 points in my .5 ppr league and is less than what Buffalo gives up on average.

I'm expecting a monster.

I'm not even sure if he will play. Roto says that he "surely reaggravated the turf toe injury as well as injuring his wrist/hand." I'm hoping he plays, but i have my doubts. Luckily i have his twin, Matt Forte. I swear they are exactly the same fantasy wise. A few huge games, a lot of games with no TD's, but respectable numbers since it is a PPR league. Even in their "bad weeks" they tend to get 8-10 points which is ok. They both have had 2 monster weeks of 20-40 points.

These are my RBs in this PPR league:

Best

Forte

Torain

Blount

Deangelo

I've got quantity, but the quality isn't the best. At the beginning of the year it was my strong point, but now it is a weak point. If we consider them all healthy, this is the ranking i would give for this week:

Blount

Best

Deangelo

Torain

Forte

Here is to hoping that Best can play this week, but i doubt it.

Can we please stop with these posts? No one cares about your depth at RB. By 'ranking' them as a thinly veiled attempt at getting comments about your team you actually added nothing to the OP question, except that you hope he plays.

Actually I think it's known that he tweaked a wrist (and stayed in the game). What I hadn't read anywhere that he re-aggravated the turf toe. Yahoo had a 'news' report that speculated he could miss a few weeks due to the wrist, but that appears to be wildly speculative and most people think he looked the best he's looked since he initially injured the toe. Would love to hear something more substantial from a legit source about any injuries. Personally I think he's in line for a nice game running and catching.

I expect him to ride pine behind Chis Johnson and A. Bradshaw and go off for a bunch of points extending my league lead in bench scoring.

From RotoworldCoach Jim Schwartz confirmed Wednesday that Shaun Hill (forearm) will be the Lions' starter at Buffalo in Week 10, barring late-week setbacks.

Hill has started six games this season, in them throwing nine touchdown passes against six interceptions. The Lions did not scale back their game plan at all with Hill under center, allowing him to try 43.5 passes per contest. With some of the best weaponry in all of football, Hill should be considered a high-end QB2 going forward, with low-end QB1 value depending on opponents. The Bills present a highly favorable matchup for Hill start hot. Nov. 10 - 2:04 pm et

Er, I think he meant a link to the Best injury info.

Must be news to me that Best broke his forearm.

This is all assuming Best is healthy, which according to his tweet, he is.
To be fair, the Lions are running the Patriot's playbook on injury info, so he'd probably be in the dog house if he tweeted anything else.Just sayin', although I expect him to play and play well this week.

Limited practice yesterday, I'm guessing in full today, worst case in full Friday and good to go.

Debating whether or not to start him over Chris Johnson @ Miami. Hmm... nope, no dice. Sucks, I don't want him to be on my bench when he blows up. I wish I could say he has the same upside this week as Chris Johnson because he has a better matchup but I can't. I'm thinking along the same lines as everyone else, I want to say 100 yards rushing, 50 yards receiving, 1-2 TD. Huge numbers but if Best does any less I would be disappointed.

Best is going to have a great game against a terrible D. I am not sure why this is even being discussed.
In non PPR it's not a slam dunk for a great game. FBG rankings are pretty low for him considering they are playing Buffalo.

I imagine 49 yards rushing, 34 yards receiving. One of his classic 7 point games (in non PPR). This guy just has no burst right now.

This one is killing me. Buffalo's run defense is terrible. All he has to do is make it past the first line and he should be gone for several big TD runs. On the other hand, his various injuries have me a little nervous. I'm 50/50 right now as to whether I want to go boom or bust with Best or slot in S-Jax instead.

 I'm a Best owner not expecting much.
Not being a jerk, but do you guys watch his games? I just thought I saw a definite difference in Best last week against the Jets and the Best I saw pre-bye week.

Best has gotten his speed and burst back. there just not using him correctly. Hes not a run up the middle guy. he is good catching passes in space and to the outside where he gets 5 yards a clip easy. up the middle he gets 2 yards.

Forte only racked up 49 yards vs Buffalo last week.
Yeah, but that was his 3rd highest rushing total on the year (only 1 yard behind his 2nd highest game of 50 yards rushing).

I thought about this too. Then I realized that Hillis is a stud and never bench your studs.
Add me to this list, I have Best in right now but that may change. Looking back Rice is the guy I should have benched.Expecting a 160 total yards, 4 or 5 catches and 1, maybe 2 TD's

Well actually I may have changed my tune. I had Turner and Gonzo and both did squat. For this week, I think Best is more of a high risk, high reward player than Hillis.

I'd like to see this link too as I read pretty much the exact opposite about him on rotoworld yesterday. In fact they were downright bullish on him this week.

Actually not that hard to find real info instead of someone just making things up:Jahvid Best-RB- Lions Nov. 12 - 9:48 am et

The Lions are 30th in the NFL at just 81.8 rushing yards per game.

Jahvid Best, averaging just 3.2 yards per carry, has lost playmaking ability to twin turf toe injuries, and the run blocking has been subpar. Best is "moving around more" in practice of late, so there's reason for hope. Even better, the Lions take on the league's worst run defense at Buffalo this week.

Jahvid Best-RB- Lions Nov. 11 - 6:01 pm et

Jahvid Best (toe) was limited again in Thursday's practice.

Even with the toe injury still hindering him, Best managed to put some distance between himself and Kevin Smith last week. He's a borderline RB1 option in a prime matchup at Buffalo this week.

Uh, I can't tell if you're taking a shot at me or the original report I was criticizing. What I was saying is that I had heard nothing about him re-aggravating the toe injury last week. Nothing you posted seems to indicate there is any re-aggravation either--I'm guessing they will be limiting him early in the week the rest of the season to let the turf toe continue to heal. Most people that saw the game thought it looked like he had much more burst, so if he did re-aggravate the turf toe(s) in any significant way, this would be a huge blow to his prospects this week and going forward. It wouldn't be the first time I missed a story, so if anyone knows about a legit source for the Rotoworld/Yahoo speculation, let us know.

That was basically his line last week against a very good Jets D. Actually he went for 48 and 40. You think he will have a worse line against this Buffalo team?

I've seen three of his games this year. I don't question his ability. I question his health, whether the Lions will utilize him correctly and whether or not the Bills will sell out to stop him and make the Lions passing game beat them.

It was on the notes that i click right next to his name in Yahoo fantasy. I thought that was rotoworld, but maybe it's just yahoo! now. I'm not sure how i can link it for you anymore, since it's not there now. As they move new notes in, old ones are deleted. But it was there at one time.

I expect him to get a lot of receptions with Hill as the QB. There should be plenty of time for Hill to check down to Best and he'll use his agility and quickness to get lots of yards after the reception.

I think he'll total 175 yards rushing and receiving and toss in a TD.

I think this is a pretty good bet. If he ever gets his running refined watch out. He is all ready one of the best pass catching RB in the league. I think he will have more yards receiving than rushing though. Wouldn't be surprised to see a multi TD game.
