Sleep innovations 10" scheduled for delivery tomorrow. Do you really have to let these things air out a day or two or will it be ready for action within hours of unboxing?
Anyone use one of these directly on a platform bed, without a box spring? Would that still be as sturdy/comfortable for sleeping/banging?
I've had two memory foam beds in my time (got rid of first because a girlfriend disliked it and getting rid of second to move up to to a king foam now that I'm married with 3 animals)....the mattress will come vacuum sealed and smaller than you expect, but it will take form very quickly. The airing out that most recommend is for a paint-like smell that takes a couple of days to dissipate. If you can handle the smell, go for it.
As for the platform/box-spring query....Ideally the recommendation is to have it on slats or a box spring that allows the mattress to get some air, but it can certainly be used right on top of a platform bed and some just use a piece of plywood in place of a box spring.
