What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (3 Viewers)

So I am a bit shocked....PW just released (tap only right now but will canned later this year) a session farmhouse ale. PW =/= session to me.
I love farmhouse ales...will have to try it when its available in cans.Finishing up a Crank Crowler right now. May have an Alpine Pure Hoppiness in a bit...
So jealous....Alpine and and Alchemist are really all that's left on my short short list.

ETA not just jealous of the Alpine, the Crank is awesome as well! And you know I'll be happy to send you PW GB!

I'm generally not a fan of grapefruit but I hear enough about this damn Sculpin so if someone wants to send me one let me know
I have a few left...they need to be drunk soon though.
Can send you something from Michigan for trade...FedExing beer is ok right?
:oldunsure: That's how wing and I did it.

What's up in MI that I can't get in Chicago? Love high hop low malt IPAs/DIPAs citrus especially, coffee/chocolate/unique sweet stouts/porters. Getting into BA stuff but not huge into it yet, like it in small doses.

Do it.

Have you had the other one yet? If you still have both, drink one for sure.

Haven't had a PH yet. Have had one of the Nelson and Duet, saving the other two to share with a buddy next weekend.

Anything I can send you to get some Alpine?

Just opened Da Fuzz. Smells awesome.
Tastes awesome as well. I bought two and wanted to have the 2nd as soon as I finished the first.
Another great Pipeworks beer.

####### hawks.
Yeah it's outstanding, wife loves it as well. I have a bottle of Toasty Nut I am waiting to crack since I only got one as well.

Meh....I have no hopes for this f'ing team without Kaner. Crow can only carry them so far. 9 GAs against the Flyers and then the Jackets. :X

I read that Alpine will begin distribution in Michigan this fall.
So that helps us how?!?!?!??!
Road trip!
Seriously, what is it, like an hour and a half drive? No brainer IMO. :banned:
Make a weekend of it. Hit Founders and Bells. Maybe Dark Horse. Three Floyds and 18th Street on the way there and back.

I can hear my liver wheezing at the idea of this trip.
My liver would be bailing out on that way out 294.....

Pretty awesome that we're all able to regularly drink some of the best beers money can buy, be it locally or via trades...its really something, isn't it?

I've greatly enjoyed the Pipeworks saisons I've had. Not your style?
Not at all, just a "session" which I read as a 4-5%. PW hasn't made anything that I have had that's less that 7.5%. I want to try it, may run to Bigsby's to get it on tap to try it.

We've been getting Alpine kegs for the last ~6-8 weeks now. No bottles yet but I'm happy with draft offerings for now. I find it hard to believe that they're in Buffalo but have no plans to expand into the midwest....

So if you're trying to take down a 64 oz growler, what's the highest ABV you'll try? Say you have ~7-8 hours to drink it, start to finish.

I've had a 9.4% imperial stout (this guy, 2015 vintage) in my fridge for the past few weeks. I want to take it all down in one sitting, preferably before we hit summer and I don't want to drink a big stout. Thinking about it for tomorrow when I get out of work but worried I'll get sick of it like 2/3 through. This was a tough get and I don't want to waste it. I've heard nothing but good things about 2015; I opted for a glass of the 2014 instead at their 2015 release party and have not had this one yet. It it was a big IPA I might go for it, but a 9.4% imperial stout?

They will be from what I understand. As Sebowski said, wherever Green Flash has distribution we should see Alpine. Eventually.

And we have plenty of Green Flash here.

If you've got 7+ hours, you could drink one, then something else...then one, then something else...Rinse and repeat. I brought a 64oz growler of Wicked Weed Freak of Nature DIPA home from NC and killed it in about 2 hours, but its 8% ABV...and that's about as strong as I'd want to go if I had 64oz to drink. Stouts are a different story, I can't drink em like I can IPAs.

Long time ago I did a a whole growler of Alpine Odin's Raven. I think it was their first batch. It was an accident though. A couple friends said they were coming by so I cracked it. They let me know right when I poured they were canceling. It was awesome. It looks intimidating, but it's less than 3 bombers.

Also, If you don't want to do it I save growlers for two days now all the time. Best if only opened once, but they really are more durable than you think. Or use this plus what Wing said. Break it up with an IPA in the middle.

Another idea all the cool kids around here are doing. Throw some adjuncts in that #####. Buy a vanilla bean and french press a glass worth (don't tell me you don't have a french press. I won't buy it). Coffee works too if you're into that kind of thing.

At Falling Rock's Sour Fest tonight:

Cantillon Iris

Russian River Supplication

Destihl St. Dekkera Reserve Sour Pommebier met Frambozen

Have you tried any Jolly Pumpkin beers?
They make some good beers. Went to the brewery in Traverse last year...all sours

The one in Ann Arbor is good too

Hey guys - I won the lotto for the Allagash Wild Friendship Celebration in Portland, ME. It's two tickets, May 9. I may not be able to go so if anyone is interested PM me. Maybe send me a box of beer or something.

Who do you think I am? I own multiple French presses :bag: . I kinda like that coffee idea.

Looks like I will be going to an Alpine tapping...it is officially in Michigan. Any recommendations on which to try? The only one I have had was Duet (thanks Sebowski) and it ws great, so I will definitely get one of those.

  • Alpine Pale Ale
  • Captain Stout
  • Duet IPA
  • Hoppy Birthday Ale
  • McIlhenney's Irish Red

The Stout and Red are just ok. Fine and right to classic style, but nothing really there of note. If you feel like a stout or a red, they work. Keep in mind it's a stout. Not an Imperial stout.

The Pale is solid. Pretty hoppy when fresh. Hoppy Birthday was an instant classic when they first released it. It has always been a roller coaster beer for me with inconsistencies. Most people aren't satisfied with the way Green Flash is brewing it, but I actually like it better than the last time I remember having the smaller batch version. A bit more bitter.

Stopped into Coppertail and Three Palms earlier.

At Coppertail had a Whoops (FL Weiss w/Cranberry & hibiscus), a Red Brett (Brett beer w/a fruit I don't remember), a Mango Grenade (FL Weiss w/mango), and a Hoppucino (IPA w/local coffee).

At Three Palms had a Dreamsicle Belgian, a Coconut Stout, and a Hot Schtuff.

About to crack a Three Palms High Five Florida Weiss (e/Cranberry, Pomegranate, Mango, Papaya, and Pineapple)
