What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (5 Viewers)

I enjoyed some Night Shift stuff when I visited Boston. Good -- but IMO nowhere near Trillium or Tree House.
Have yet to find Tree House  , jealous.I may be a little biased against Trillium because of hype .I dunno I liked it and don't have a problem getting it although haven't had it since the canning started .Lots of great beer here in MA. I get excited having Maine's Lunch & Dinner ,Foundation Epiphany , Bissell Brothers The Substance.

I like Trillium's offers but think they are overrated. They're very good but the hype is out of control. On the other end I think Night Shift is a vastly underrated local Boston area (Everett)brewery. Night Shift's Santilli is a delicious IPA as is  Whirlpool a pale ale

Another local IPA from an even smaller brewer, Aeronaut - A Year a With Dr Nandu has a small footprint but worth a purchase if you see it
This is good info.   What other local breweries should I have on my radar?

I believe you have to actually go to the Tree House brewery in order to get it, at least you used to.  Haven't been out that way in a bit.

Every beer you listed is pretty much world class boner-inducing greatness LOL. I'm guessing the fact that Trillium is local jades you a bit -- much like happens with FFF, Pipeworks, and Half Acre with me.

You are always drinking beer and smoking meat. Jealous. Maybe next trade includes some brisket.
LOL. That's Saturday -- I mow and do the outside stuff, wife and daughters clean the inside -- then deck, beer, smoker. The ...HTV is really good too, BTW. Although it's another one that's just waaaay too drinkable for 9+% LOL. Trouble in the making.

My last Roc Whoopass DIPA

Some friends coming over in a bit, the husband is an aspiring beer guy.  Threw a Simple Roots Gose the Destructor and Russian River Sanctification (bottled January 2014) in the fridge.  I have no idea if that gose is any good but I never want to drink a 22 oz gose by myself....so here's a good opportunity.

If you thought "black ipa" could never be topped as an oxymoronic made up beer style, well, I just saw an "imperial session ale" in an SN Beer Camp box.

Roc Whoopass DIPA

Daisy Cutter

Simple Roots Gose the Destructor

Russian River Sanctification (1/28/14)

Boulevard Tell Tale Tart

Grapefruit Sculpin

Last night

AB inbev/Miller Lite at a draft (was at a vfw so limited but it actually kind of hit the spot)

Got home and had:

Hailstorm Cumulus

Pipeworks Lil Citra

3Sheep's Happy Summer

Was going to go late night Permanent Funeral but passed.

Really? Vallejo is effing great IMO; Navaja is better, but still...
And Goneaway, Double Daisy Cutter, Galactic DDC, Tuna, Beer Hates Astronauts, Deep Space and Powder Blue...pretty solid lineup IMO. And now that Navaja is canned year round...damn.

ETA Going to brunch in the city today, thinking a stop at HA to fill some growlers is going to be on the agenda. Have some new stuff on the taproom menu:

Felis Paradox - Tropical Dark Ale

White Noise - Mild Ale

Western Automatic - Pale Ale

Summer Rules - Pale Ale

The Big North - Lacto-pulsed Peach Pale Ale

Wound up with a growler of Western Automatic, Summer Rules and the Big North. HA just does hops right. Oh and if you're looking for a great brunch in the city Whisk was incredible.

Howlers of Dr. Terminus (APA) and Howe Farms SMaSH IPA from Four Fathers. The Howe Farms is a single hop IPA using locally grown Falconer's Flight from you guessed it, Howe Farms about 15 minutes south of here. Both really good, as expected.

What else have you had from HA? You like hop forward low malt right?
opposite. bigger malty beer guy than hop forward. so i should add that caveat.

(had to check BA)

i've had Daisy Cutter, Double Daisy, Big Hugs, Beer Hates Astronauts and now Vallejo.

Yeah -- if you're not a hop head, I can see where Vallejo wouldn't do it for you for sure. With that in mind, steer clear of Navaja too -- it's a huge hop bomb.

Yep makes sense why HA isn't in your wheelhouse, big malty beers aren't what they're known for.

Last of the I Want My HTV and Brewery Vivant Tropical Saison from 80s. Definitely gonna miss these, particularly the HTV which is outstanding.

Kicked the first growler from HA. Western Automatic - pale ale. I really enjoyed this one, I know shocking I find a HA beer to be excellent.

Everything they make is delicious. I'm really hoping the ridiculous pricing is temporary -- when they first got the canning line most everything was $11 / sixer with an occasional $15 / sixer for big DIPAs or Imperial Stouts, and I was drinking more 18th Street than anything else. Now it's been a few months since I've had anything by them. Maybe they're figuring it out -- their beers used to sell out within a few days of being released, and now stuff is hanging around for weeks.
18th Street has 5 different sixers available for between $11 - $13 today, including Sex & Candy and Devil's Cup.  :pickle: Boycott will officially be over as of tonight.

Been on a Cumulus kick lately.

Have a draft in Schererville on Friday. Not sure how I will get there due to traffic but may hit up 18th on the way back. Still a little put off by the price points as of late.

I'm really hoping that the price of the stuff available now indicates that the outrageous pricing was just an experiment. We'll see, but Grapefruit Dead and BA Bank just hung around forever which absolutely isn't typical for 18th Street releases that are priced more reasonably. Even at $15 / sixer and $14 / bomber (which is still fairly steep) Undercrown lasted one day last time it dropped. Same with Vanilla Hunter at $15 / bomber. Guess we'll see.

We get limited distribution in the dirty South Side so one place will get it. I won't be able to chase it anymore.
I'm really lucky that a place 10 minutes gets all of his stuff and Hubbard's Cave. Guy knows all those brewers personally, and it's a whole in the wall place. If I can get more than 2 want me to grab you one? Sometimes he limits and other times he doesn't.

I'd appreciate one as well if there are no limits. Would do cash or trade for NWI goodies. I've never had anything from Mikerphone as of yet and have been dying to try them.

Done...have to be quick though. Likely less than 30 days since it's DIPA and you want it fresh!
