What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (1 Viewer)

Seeing my nephew from Chicago this weekend - what should I suggest he bring for tasting?

He lives in West Town, looks close to Forbidden Root, so maybe growlers from nearby or what's "hot" in bottles/cans these days?

Just found out he's bringing Pipeworks Over the Line (barrel aged Hey Careful Man) :banned:

BA Alpha Klaus available at FFF -- sounds tempting, but not at... wait for it... $40 / bomber. Another big ol' "nope." I'll stick with regular at 1/4 the price, thanks.

Local place Noon Whistle is releasing an 11.1% Belgian Imperial stout, today is a cocoa raspberry variant and tomorrow is a vanilla. Yes and please.

Hawks and CDL - Hailstorm releasing Santa's Cookies and Milk stout (imperial milk stout with brown sugar, chocolate chips, cinnamon and vanilla) today at Open Bottle at 5. FYI. I am heading out that way but will probably avoid Open Bottle. Kind of turns into a ####show on Friday evenings. Probably going to stop at Hailstorm for some growler fills instead.

Hawks - do you know if they were doing fills of Am I a Hipster?

I'll be in the city tomorrow and staying at the Intercontinental overnight for my work Xmas party -- if the weather isn't too crappy I might try to swing out there and grab some. Looks like it's supposed to be brutal, though, so might take the train so we don't have to worry about driving...

Not sure, I didn't ask. Man I really don't want to drive out there in this ####astic weather we're getting this weekend.

That Raspberry Belgian Imperial from Noon Whistle is tasty though

Hipster lasted a bit right? Maybe I can run out on Sunday afternoon or maybe early in the week?

Is it released at the brewery today?
I was only kidding but yeah, at the brewery too. I saw Hipster at Binny's the other day but they only had one left. If they are doing fills, might get 32 oz of it or a crowler.

I told myself I was going to slow down buying beer and yet here I am already spending about $100 in my head...

####...I may run out tonight. Is it as good as hipster?

No clue. Just released today at 5 but the adjuncts sound pretty good. "Vanilla" gets all the neckbeards worked up to stand in line somewhere too.
I'm pretty meh about vanilla but the brown sugar, chocolate chips and cinnamon have me itching to grow a neckbeard lol

Drove past Hailstorm. Was pretty packed so I didn't go in. Will crack a BCBS instead and maybe try tmw during the day.**

**Unless a predicted snowstorm actually happens

What was GoJ aged in? I had one aged in Heaven Hills earlier this year and I have another one that is aged in something else but can't remember what distillery.

Does my basement count?? In all seriousness I don't think it was a special release, just beeen keeping a lot of beers in a cool place.  I really enjoyed it.

My daughter turns 15 next week and my wife reminded me of high school where we drank anything.  I have decided it is time to dedicate towards my aged stuff before some 16 year old punk kid steals my 2009 Dark Lord for a cheap buzz.  I am most worried about my 2007 Westys.

Was just curious since GoJ is BA Jones Dog, I had two. One was Heaven Hills and can't remember the other one, was just curious what yours were aged in.

To add the westys are for my kids wedding dates.  So I guess I could confront the kids and say you will drink this when you marry my daughter.

Anyone have any good suggestions on Chicago beer bars for someone coming in from Denver?

I recommended Links, Lone Wolf, Green Door and Haymarket. Thoughts?

70 degrees right now, windows open, light breeze every so often
Eff you, GB...  ;)

We're looking at a high below zero tomorrow with wind chills under -20, plus even more snow and likely ice storms to top it off. I already can't feel my toes just thinking about it -- gonna need to be drunk just to survive going outside to clear the driveway.

Thread the Needle and Beware the False Prophet -- the 2 new "Shadows" beers from 18th Street. Drinking on the train on our way into the city LOL.

Nope, cracked one the remaining 3 I have on hand. I grabbed 6 when I was down there. 2 to my BIL and I have 2 left now. I want to get down there this week to get some Santa's Cookies.
I am with you on that. Need at least one for Christmas Eve.  You know...for Santa.
