What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (3 Viewers)

Polished off a growler of Tampa Beer Works Peach Milkshake IPA last night. Thick, almost smoothie like mouth feel, really tasty but I couldn't have drank more than those 2 pints, it was a bit sweet.

Also had some Calusa Zero Zero DIPA. Joooose!

Tried Black Butte 31 tonight, not good. It has great reviews but for me too much cardamom, not recommended.

On this year's Woot Stout now, it's solid.

New Glarus Raspberry Tart. I like it, but like their strawberry rhubarb much more.

ETA: Managed to get strawberry rhubarb on tap this morning and am very happy right now. Cheers!

of the fruit beers, Strawberry Rhubarb is my favorite for certain

Seeetwater 420 Mango Kush. The second the bartender put them in front of us the pungent weed smell smacked us in the face. Like super strong. 4 hours later whenever I burp it tastes like weed.

Door County Cherry Wheat - Meh. It’s okay, but nothing special

Crooked Stave Petite Sour Blueberry - I like this one. Not overly sweet and a mellow blueberry finish.

Une Anée Brewery  Le Seul VI (Elderberry) - I really like this one. It’s super tasty and smooth. A great sour imo.

anyone had this new DFH lo-cal IPA?

i am definitely intrigued.
update: does not really taste like an IPA.  i'm honestly not sure that it's much better than any other low-cal beers, including macros.

also had a lagunitas hop refresher, which is zero calorie, zero alcohol.  That was not too bad.  that had a better hop/fruit character.

also found Toppling Goliath King Sue in my beer shop, which is the first time ever in PA, as far  as I know.

Czann’s DunkelWeizen

Really tasty local brew.  Was looking for something new at the beer store and they had this in tap...after a taste, grabbed a growler of it.  Glad i did.   Great match for some baseball.

Have heard good things about the little brewery (and how well they treat customers) and that they may start bottling soon. Planning a visit soon for pretzels with beer/cheese dip and a couple pints with some friends.

I do love wet hop season. Founders Harvest and Lagunitas Born Yesterday are so good.
They made Born Yesterday again? I thought they replaced that with Phase Change back in May...it wasnt good.

Four Stacks Art Basil. Pretty solid strawberry basil sour.

Four Stacks Chocolate Coffee Porter Nitro. Very coffee heavy, but a good Porter nonetheless.

It’s only released once a year after harvest as far as I know. It just hit my local stores this weekend and it’s as good as ever.

Heading out of town for Labor Day and picked up three types from Aslin: Double Orange Starfish, Master of Oranges, and Oh Jackie Wilson.

Just opened up a Double Orange Starfish while packing. I can see why Beer Advocate has this as the top Virginia beer.
What’s the best way to get from downtown dc to aslin without a car of my own?  Or where else to grab some?

Blue line down to Van Dorn Street Metro will get you within a do-able walking distance.  Probably about 10-15 minute walk — over the bridge over the train tracks and then left on Pickett.  It is probably a cheap Uber or cab ride from that metro stop, if don’t want to walk it (or walk back from the brewery to the Metro).

There are some places that have will have one or two Aslin beers on tap at any given time, but hard to know if in rotation.  (Even the brewery rotates beers on a daily basis, and I’m always checking the website or Instagram for drop announcements.).  Best way to do it may be look on Untappd and try to “find it,” if you can’t make it to the brewery.

If you really want to try their stuff, brewery is best bet because they will have about 10 of their beers on tap, plus another 6 or so available for can or bottle purchase.  Website is updated every morning with Alexandria Draft and To-Go beer lists.  I’ve been waiting for another drop of the Double Orange Starfish or Masters of Karate.

hmm, i guess that's gonna take like over an hour each way though, eh?

An hour each way is probably about right, as it is near the end of the Metro line.  Depending on traffic given day of the week and time, if you time it right, Uber from downtown could probably get there in around 20-25 minutes or so, but I’m not sure how much that would cost.

I’m not sure when you are coming into town, but, in case this week and were on the fence, Aslin dropped cans of Master of Karate today, one of their signature double IPAs. Wife left me home with my son tonight, or I’d be down there myself getting some cans for the Nats game tonight.

Hmm.  I will be there from Thursday to mid-Saturday.  I guess I need to really decide.

Had a collab the other night between aslin and barrier? (barrister? Someone from ny I think).  It was pretty good.

Was able to hitch a ride down there.  Wish I could have had more time, but grabbed a 4 pack of mok, and tried on draft: mok, orange starfish, drive in copy cat, mind the hop, new beer #1, and something else that my beer-addled brain can’t remember.  Well worth the trip.

Nothing planned for tonight with the daughter's softball game in the morning, but will certainly have a few pops while watching football tomorrow afternoon and then will go out for more in the evening.  Enjoy your weekend, FFAers!

Petrus Sour Passion Fruit

Golden Road Melon Cart

The Petrus was the better of the two, but the melon cart was the best melon Berliner I’ve had to date.

Golden Road sponsors the Dan Patrick show. hearing those ads/promotions every day makes me thirsty to try their beer. have you had any others besides the Melon Cart?
