What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (2 Viewers)

Just picked up:

Evil twin even more Jesus stout

Evil twin biscotti break stout

Great divide yeti

Great divide oak aged yeti

Evil twin soft dk stout

Ballast point the commodore stout

Where to start...
ballast point commodore stout down.

should have known that with the 6.5% it was not going to be a true stoutish beer. wasn't a fan and definitely not even close to being on ballast point sea monster and victory at sea standards.

In Charlotte:

Triple C ipa. Decent.

Troegs Perpetual IPA. Skunked bottle.

No NoDa Hop Drop or Foothills Jade at the local Harris Teeter.

Duet and Nelson last night. So freaking good, thank god it's in Michigan now.
Its in Florida too but Ive only seen it on draft in Tampa Bay...bottles are in S Florida, been waiting for word about bottles locally...
So, I went to the Holiday Market that I recommended to you for Alpine. Duet and Hoppy Birthday is gone. Still had Nelson, not sure how long it will last though.

No biggie, it's down here now and I'll be able to get bottles any day now.

Was lucky enough to +1 of a buddy who won Rare Day tickets. Went to early session and this had to be the best run event I've ever been to.

After collecting your allotment of 3, you took a shuttle to the barrel house. When you walked in, they handed you a glass of rare. Walked around to see barrels that hold 2016 BCBS. Goose Island used the rare barrels and filled them with bcbs barely wine. I imagine this will be King Henry 2.0. Also saw barrels marked "Scotch", "Maple" and "Sherry".

GI had all of the 2014 & 2015 lineup on tap with the exception of rare. Had a "mystery" tapping station that was serving 2010 vanilla rye & 2012 cherry rye when I was in line. Heard they later tapped templeton rye and baudonia. Pours were supposed to be 3oz. But don't think I had anything under 6. Very generous servers which were pouring out of pitchers to speed things up. I'll post some pics later.

So jealous man....I was really hoping my brother in law or I would get tickets.

That sounds awesome. I'm super jealous.

I see Ballast Pt listed an ipo with a crazy valuation, something like a 13x multiple I think. This market is insane. At MKE Brewing this aft and into the evening. Lots of good beer.
Ballast Pt. had announced an IPO of (I think) about 30% of the company in Oct., but confirmed yesterday an acquisition by Constellation Brands at $1bln with valuation multiples in the "mid to high teens." This industry is absolutely crazy right now. Surely, Ocelot is next in line.

I was in Madison yesterday and ended up at Ale Asylum with some old friends. They are doing some great things at that brewery.

Had the New Belgium/Ben & Jerry's Salted Caramel Brownie Brown Ale. A little heavy, but solid flavor. Nice winter beer.

Lunch from Maine Beer Company right now, on tap at my local place near my office. This place consistently gets the best beer in New England on tap and rotate at a good rate.

More delicious beers over the past few days as I continue to try to make some more room in my cellar:

Santa Fe Kriek sour ale aged in oak barrels with cherries (one of the better American krieks I've had)

Cascade Apricot Ale sour ale aged in oak barrels with apricots (2012) (also incredibly delicious)

Firestone Walker Velvet Merkin oatmeal stout aged in bourbon barrels (2013)

Crooked Stave/Jester King/Trois Dames Cerveza Sin Frontera wild ale aged in bourbon barrels

Avery III Dolia sour ale aged in Madeira, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Carcavelos barrels

Destihl Excommunie Quatre sour quad aged in oak red wine barrels (2013)

That looks like it was a really cool event in the barrel room. That mystery pour station is hilarious. Did they tell you what you were getting once you got up there?

What did you think of the BC Rare compared to regular BCBS? Did you think it had noticeably stronger bourbon barrel character from those 35-year old Heaven Hill barrels? Is it worth offering up my first born child to try to trade for a bottle?

The mystery pour station was not well thought through. Lines began forming from 2 different directions and the wait was long about a half hour for us. They would not tell you what was pouring initially but later broke down after numerous requests. You picked either left (Cherry Rye) or right (Vanilla Rye).

Rare is really good, surprisingly smooth with the extra heat. More depth that regular and definitely more bourbon I thought. As far as what to offer tradewise, I'll leave that up to you.

Jesus dude, you drink a lot of world class stuff, those sours sound amazing.

After reading the fatty liver thread.....might be time for me to take a break.

Just read the OP in that thread...Ive had none of those symptoms. Whew!

I did recently get back to healthy eating though, as I was starting to get a bit doughy/sluggy form crap food and delicious beer. Cut soda/caffeine out completely, cut back on carbs, am eating mostly protein/fruits/vegetables, and cut way back on sugar and saturated fats. Now I just need some motivation to do some exercise.

BTW, having a Lawsons Sip of Sunshine straight out of the can.

Yeah, you guys have to take care of yourselves so you can live longer and drink more beer. BTW, I'm on the treadmill, got a lot of calories to burn so I'm ready for Bourbon County release.

Trillium Double Dry Hopped Sleeper Street IPA. I cant say enough good things about beers from these guys. If I lived near Boston Id be in trouble because Id be there every damn day.

Sip Of Sunshine. Last beer I knocked my glass off the table onto tile floor after it was empty....thought it was my Trillium tulip but turns out it was Brew Hub...so glad.
