What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (3 Viewers)

My wife and I are currently in the process of making beer (via Brooklyn Beer kit).

Way too much work. I do not recommend.

Just go buy it somewhere.
I made 4 or 5 batches before I called it quits. I'll leave it to the pros.

Bunch of new stuff today

Buckle Down Painted Turtle

North Coast Stellar

Solemn Oath Kidnapped by Vikings

Apline Duet

Went to a place in boone NC today called Peabody's. It was OK. They have a cellar with the special stuff but owner wasn't in so I was out of luck.

I did get a lagunitas cappuccino stout and a ballast point peppermint victory at sea. Both were not good to me. I don't know what it is for me with ballast point but the last few times I have NOT enjoyed their products. Not sure what is going on. Are they getting too big and quality suffering or have I just got unlucky?

Also had a olde hickory lindley park. Very good but not espresso yeti or big bad Baptist good IMO.

Maybe it has something to do with this: http://insidescoopsf.sfgate.com/blog/2015/11/16/san-diegos-ballast-point-sold/

Any beer with peppermint sounds horrible to me

In Orlando for our biggest trade show. Show up at the house that we're renting in Reunion, my boss has the fridge stocked with Grapefruit Sculpin, Hop Gun, and CC Sugar Plum. Love this company...

Enjoying the Florida heat?

Found some Regal Rye on tap at a restaurant in downtown Denver for $5. Here goes round two.

Also had a Gillian and a Consecration.

:lmao:

Considering that it's single digits at home with wind chill below zero, I'll gladly take this.

Civil Society's Pulp, a Double dry hopped wheat...F that, this is a damn IPA that tastes like someone mixed the best Trillium and Tree House beer together. Ridiculous, and it couldn't have a more fitting name. Straight pulpy hop juice. Damn.

Hey Wing or other Florida guys, what great IPAs might someone find in Orlando that might be tough to impossible to find up North?

Im not really familiar with Orlandos market, I almost never go there other than for work (which is overnights after everything is closed), but I know there arent many good IPAs in distro in Orlando...Due South's Cat 5 might be around, but check the dates. Cigar City Jai Alai will be everywhere. Most of my favorites are brewery only (growlers/crowlers) in and around Tampa Bay.

There are a few respectable breweries that have popped up in and around Orlando but I couldnt name any of them or their beers.

Just ran out at lunch to restock for the games this weekend:

Dark Horse Double Crooked Tree x2

18th Street Undercrown

18th Street Sour Note Saison

GI Lolita

And a sixer of Founder's Azacca

Breckenridge 471 Small Batch DIPA Hull Melon - really nice BA DIPA. Definitely not your typical DIPA, really mellow, smooth and hoppy. Have another bottle in the fridge that's the Simcoe version.

While out of town the wife just grabbed me 2 MA. beers.clown shoes extremely angry beastclown shoes undead party crasher
what did you think? In general I'm not a Clown Shoes fan
Hi HT,

Just had the extremely angry beast. Very good stout. Smooth and hid the high alcohol nicely. Small afterburn but real good and would get this again.
Undead Party Crasher used to be Vampire Slayer

Fantastic Imperial Stout. Dark Chocolate, molasses...so very yummy

On February 2nd, the local pub is doing a flight with a Goose Island Bourbon County Stout vertical

'12, '13, '14, and '15

For the past 3 years I've been meaning to do a Bourbon County vertical I just never got around to it. Now I think I might as well wait until next year and do 10 years. '07-'16. Thinking 3 people so we each get 4ozs. I can do a 40 of Bourbon County. Right? Yup.

I drank a Bourbon County Rare last night. It lived up to the hype, in my opinion. Dark chocolate, caramel, charred oak, bourbon, woodiness, smoke, molasses, vanilla, and toasted marshmallow. It had tons of bourbon and charred oak character without being too hot. I thought it was one of the most enjoyable representations of bourbon barrel character in any beer that I've ever had.

I also drank these over the past two nights:

BCBS

Casey Cherry Inclusion bière de garde with cherries aged in oak barrels

The Alchemist Focal Banger IPA with citra and mosaic hops

Avery Tweak (2014) imperial stout with coffee aged in bourbon barrels

Thirsty Dog Siberian Night imperial stout aged in bourbon barrels

Crooked Stave Motif Reserva Belgian dark sour ale aged in whiskey barrels

Debating if I need to be part of the Foothills Sexual Chocolate release...

Although it only has a 91 on BA, a couple of the beer gurus I was with a few weeks back told me if you like stouts you need to try this.
If you are able to get any of this (extras) I would do anything to obtain a bottle, could send you local Wisconsin/Illinois stuff. I've been always wanting to try this beer, never had it so I can not speak if it is worthwhile to attend.

Civil Societys Fresh IPA. 6.2%. Another good beer form these guys, this one has more malt backbone than any of their other IPAs, therefore it is my least favorite. But still good.

Any Chicago guys SoB Old Order members? First release is Sat 1/30 and sounds awesome. Can't wait.

The Old Order I
Farmhouse Ale aged in red wine barrels with apricot. 10% ABV

The Old Order II
Farmhouse Ale aged in red wine barrels with raspberry. 10% ABV

Just had a Lost Coast Great White on a solo 1-beer lunch :excited:

I'm no beer snob but I think a 77 is a little low for this. What a refreshing beer this was. Definitely adding to my summertime mix.

What is going on with Victory? New blackboard series just came out with an Agave Grapefruit IPA. It's awful. Poured it out. Like if Bud Light made an IPA and poured fake agave and grapefruit syrup into it. So disappointed.

Also last night:

Half Acre Big Hugs- good but no idea why people line up for this. Maybe I need a neckbeard to know the answer to that. Anyway, nothing special but a good stout.

Backwoods *******

Probably going to hit up Hailstorm on the way home from the dentist for some barrel aged Vlad with coffee or vanilla.

Just scored some BOMB! when it popped up on one of the local bottle shop's FB pages as I was killing time in between my daughters' volleyball games. Probably my ATF non-BA stout.
