What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (4 Viewers)

Ken Schramm is the godfather of mead. He literally wrote the book on it. Signature isn't one of the rares like Heart of Darkness or Black Agnes, but it's good. Mead isn't really my thing though. I am have no idea how available it is outside of Michigan.
i post on a different beer website. they love their mead. as i understand it Schramm's is the gold standard of mead.

Went to Asheville for the weekend and returned with lots of Wicked Weed and a handful of goodies from other local breweries.  :banned:

Just finished a bottle of Schramms Black Agnes a week or so ago and have one bottle left. So. Damn. Good. What's cool is you can open it, have a taste and recork, it'll last for months once opened.

Happy IPA day!

Just finished a Treehouse Alter Ego, and am now enjoying a Civil Society Fresh. Both outstanding, and Civil has taken care of the canning issues they had with their first run.

I actually preferred it to Heady. Consensus among my brother NE beer geek friends is that it's definitely the best of their big three.
Tough to compare, they're all different.  Focal Banger is probably more drinkable than Heady from a pure easiness of drinking standpoint, I'd say.  Depends on what you're in the mood for.

I like it better than Heady as well. To me it's just a better tasting beer. Several feiends of mine rank it above Heady and Crusher as far as taste goes. I haven't had Crusher yet but I've got 2 in my fridge I'll be drinking this weekend

Let me know how Crusher is... couldn't swing a can when I was out there.

Couldn't run out last night so missed out completely on Mikerphone's Mad Flavor and Special Sauce #5 :kicksrock:
Well, 18th Street is releasing Grapefruit Dead on Saturday. That might ease your pain. Although at $22 / 4 pack of 12 oz. cans (WTF Drew?!?!?!?) probably not too much. I'll buy one 4 pack just because it's really good, but that is really getting pretty out of hand IMO. Love their beer, but the $14 / 12 oz bottle of BA Bank, this pricing on the Dead, the $70 designated driver tickets for Barrel Madness with zero option to buy to go bottles have me kind of turned off. I don't mind paying for quality, but jeez. It's more understandable, IMO, for fruited long sours, BA stuff, etc that are so much more expensive to produce. Gouging $22 for 4 regular cans of a good IPA is rough.

22 for 4 12oz cans? #### that noise. 18th street is really far from me though so I can't just decide to go. What sucks is Mikerphone delivered in my area around 5pm last night, I didn't see it till after we got back from a movie and well it was gone everywhere near me. I've had both before (he usually doesn't use the same hop blends twice so it's always changing) but really wanted to try these. Oh well.

Yeah, I'm kind of pissed with their pricing lately. When they first started canning, everything was $11 - $13 / 6, and it was game on. I could deal with dropping $10 - $11 on bombers when I knew that that was all their line could produce -- but $22 and not even for a 6er? That's just raping their customers. I've met Drew, and he's always been a cool down to earth dude, but come on.

Smashed a few Civil Society IPAs yesterday. Good stuff.

Growler of Cosmo from a local brewery and then Pipeworks Lil Citra and Half Acre Navaja. God how I've missed Navaja....think it's the best "regular" DIPA I've had.

Is Bissell Brothers that good?  When I was looking around at Maine breweries and it looked good, but not a must-stop.  Maybe I missed the boat.

Yes, IMO. Substance, Swish, Nothing Gold, Reciprocal, Baby Genius...all top notch.

And about to crack the first of a sixer of fresh Sucks as I man the smoker and clean the garage. Shout out to Lagunitas for making really damn good beer and keeping it under $10 / sixer.

Hot smoking more chicken now LOL -- this time with a Sinaloa-style Mexican marinade:

can of frozen OJ concentrate

large white onion

2 whole heads garlic

little olive oil

2 chipotles in adobo

big handfuls of fresh thyme and oregano

salt / pepper

Lime wedges squeezed over and cilantro to serve. Gonna do grilled Mexican street corn (mayo, cilantro, cojita cheese and grilled zuchinni as sides and grabbed some fresh corn tortillas too.

Sucks is goin down like water also.

Sucks gone, I'm buzzing hard, back to ZD. Just tossed the corn and zuchinni on.

Chicken, off the chain good.

Went to a local beer fest that was awesome, went with my wife and her sister and her husband. Something was put in something my wife drank/ate, she's in a really bad way. Worse than anything I've seen in 16 years with her. To the point I'm not comfortable leaving her at home to get dinner. :( She drank less than I did by a wide margin and I don't have that much bigger of a tolerance. Poor girl :(

Had a leftover New Belgium Kriek "Sour" Ale.  Meh.  I had a way better one at Coppertail today.  New Belgium makes me sad.

Eh, some of their stuff is really good. La Folie and Le Terroir are great.  Their trippel and dubbel are both very good. Citradelic, 1554, and Fat Tire are good too. They're not cutting edge, but IMO are a great and usually cheap fallback option when craft choices are limited. Same vein as Sam Adams, slight step below Sierra Nevada as far as craft giants go.

Lagunitas Little Sumpin' Sumpin' Ale

It's almost like an addiction
Yeah, me too. That's an effing good beer. Zombie Dust, Two Hearted, and Little Sumpin' Sumpin' are the three beers that I drink the most, and always in my fridge. Little Sumpin' Extra is great too.

Aunt Sally is another one that's a regular from Lagunitas for me.

Opposite end for me, there is no such thing as too little malt lol.
Likely dates back to my intro to good beer for me -- early 90s when the only good beer came from Belgium / Germany / England. I still say that Belgium can still hang w/ the US as far as truly spectacular beet -- just not hop-forward, 'Murica has that on lockdown IMO.

I saw this too. At first I thought it was $22 a bomber and thought....this guy is out of his ####### mind. Then i saw it was a 4 pack and still thought...this guy is out of his ####### mind. I kind of took notice when Barrell Madness was completely overpriced.

I will still go to try things at the brewpub and when I see something that looks good and is reasonably priced but there is just too much other good stuff to justify that price point.

That sounds awesome. Might have to give this a shot when I am un-homeless.
