What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (1 Viewer)

Dam it.  One growler gone and several pints at the tap room not going to cut it. Was hoping to save one growler for the game tomorrow. Oh well.

Last night had a bunch of stuff at Myths and Legends and then Alter. Ended the night at Another One in Downers Grove with a Surly Darkness and a Hopslam. Thank God for uber. And ibuprofen.

You are out in Downers pretty often...next time you are planning on it PM me.

After consuming lots of Hopslam this weekend, it has grown on me a bit. I just needed to appreciate it for what it is and not compare it to the super juice/hop bombs that I usually drink. The honey/hops combo is really balanced and as it warms up, it's really fn good.

Deviate in Indy is outstanding. I like some beers from Sun King. Not much in between here and Indy except corn fields and windmills.
18th Street in Hammond for sure. I haven't been to One Trick Pony in Lansing but heard it was good.

I was going to look at 18th St to see how far off the path I'll have to go. Thanks for the Deviate recommendation, will add that for sure.

LOL, yeah for sure. But it's very dependent on weather, hopefully it's good weather so I can make some stops.
Think it's supposed to be 40s / 50s most of the week. Some rain but nothing nasty. That's not a bad drive down to Indy on 65 at all assuming no blowing snow -- minimal traffic and flat.

Love this convenience store near where I work, 90% of it is beer.   Since @Chemical X got me hooked on Peroni, I picked up a 12 pack of that for 15.99 which is a steal, decided to add a 12 pack of Moosehead which is a favorite of mine.   I pay a look and they got MGD 18 packs for 7.99.   It was my high school beer so I got a little nostalgic and had load up 3 of those bad boys.   Wanted some Leinenkigel's Grapefruit shandy to try but there were out.  So I am stocked up until Sunday.

Civil Society Seventh Wonder (formerly Subject 7). Not as good as batch 1 but still the best DIPA in Florida, easy.

I'll take, 2 posts that have nothing to do with each other, Alex.

been battling a b!tch of an ear infection/head cold for the past 10 days or so ... haven't touched teh booze in 2 weeks  :(

any recommendations for something tasty/powerful/medicinal?   :banned:

willing to drop major coin, and travel, if necessary

Had a bunch of big stouts of the games today. Boulevard Stout X 2015 Cocoanut, BC Coffee 2013, B'Side Avarice (coffee stout aged in rye( from River North and Cigar City Americano. All were really good. The Boulevard was maybe at the end of it's prime and the cocoanut had fallen off a bit. I'd love to try a fresher version.

Hawks, CDL...did you see the new Hailstorm cloud series beer? Cirrus ..NE style oat ipa. How does one measure haze because it looks hazy as hell.

Haven't seen or had that one yet, sounds good though. Not much beer for me for a while; wife is doing the New Year's resolution diet thing and I decided to go along for the ride to try to lose my middle age spare tire.

Just released this week. Their tap list looks really good right now and they are releasing some barrel aged goodness on Saturday so you might want to ditch the kale for a weekend.

Might swing by on the way back from Indy on Sunday and hadn't seen Cirrus yet either. Sounds interesting, an oat IPA...not sure about that.

:lmao:  Yeah, it's tempting. I tend to have an easier time though with the "all or nothing" type approach, and so far, so good. Good time to give it up and diet for a while for me too, much easier when sitting out on the deck drinking and smoking a shoulder isn't an option.

I've had a few, and tend to really like what the flaked oats do for the mouthfeel -- nice and soft from what I've experienced.

Exactly. I think some/most of the NE based breweries add oats or flour or something to achieve this so it's mirroring that style. I think I need to head up there on Saturday for some growlers and BA goodies.

Had a Avery Brewing Mephistopheles Stout the other night. I love me an Imperial Stout but this bad boy was between 15% to 16% and as thick a beer as I've ever tasted. It rates really high on both BA and Ratebeer but I didn't walk away very impressed.

Ratebeer: Avery Mephistopheles Stout
I'm not typically a huge fan of massive ABV (more than maybe 12-13% tops) beers like that either -- they're almost always hot, boozy, and harsh IMO.

Kale.

Jk. Cirrus. Delicious and the texture is great. That said, still some room for improvement. I expect them to dial it in as they do with their other cloud beers.

Also picked up a couple Pipeworks Galaxy Unicorn.

I checkout for a week and people are drinking kale! Hopslam for me. I tore through my case Ellison Juice. That was really good
