What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (1 Viewer)

I worked the fest, pouring for The Burnt Hickory Brewery out of Kennesaw, GA. Fun time, I was able to walk around several times and try a lot of beer and ate at 5 of the dozen or so food trucks on site. Sunny and 85 today made for a LOT of sunburned beer drinkers from out of state.

Winners of the fest:

Best Beer:

1st Proof Brewing's Key Lime Pie Evil Kiss Berliner

2rd Ology Brewing's Juice Lab Berliner (Passionfruit, blood orange, raspberry)

3rd Angry Chair's BA Adjunct Trail Stout

Best Brewery:

1st: Ology (Tallahassee)

2nd: Proof (Tallahassee)

3rd: Arkane (Largo)
No ####! I got a Didjits from Burnt Hickory. Love that stuff. Best beer I had was probably the Other Half 5th Anniversary stout. Outstanding.

Four Peaks Peach Ale.  This is a Phoenix brewery and not bad.  This peach bake really is perfect for hot weather or just living in AZ or FL.

BTW, I'll be pouring for The Burnt Hickory Brewery Saturday if anyone is attending the Huna festival.
I put this out there last week, you must have missed it!

A FBG poured your beer and you didn't know it. And I poured for a FBG and didn't know it. Lol

Samual Smith Oatmeal Stout

Followed by Founders Breakfast Stout.

I know what you're thinking, how blazae ... But I love it!

2019 KBS is very good. It's not nearly as exciting as it used to be now that the market is flooded with great BA Beers but the king still stands up

Picked some up yesterday, looks like founders finally made enough that I don’t have to enter a #######g raffle for it

hell I saw like 6 cases at Kroger today

Yep all that money from the Spanish brewery has finally paid off. There are stacks and stacks of it everywhere.

In all my years of visiting my brother in ATL I’ve somehow missed Jekyll Brewing out of Alpharetta.  Discovered their Hop Dang Diggity Southern IPA this past weekend and it’s one of the most drinkable IPAs I’ve ever had, so good

Also, Funky Buddha’s No Crusts pb&j brown ale is all kinds of awesome

Could never find KBS on a shelf here. I've had it at bars but to the tune of $1 an ounce.

I'll do some hunting tomorrow and see if it's as readily available here in New England.

We did have CBS available this year which I had never seen on the shelf before ... so maybe they're finally making enough product to meet demand.

I'm going to be in Shreveport all week, anyone have any suggestions for must-have beers?
I’m pretty sure Great Raft is going to be the go-to. They have a wide variety and they push specialties. They also have a brewpub/taproom at the brewery. I haven’t been but if I had to stay overnight in Shreveport I would. As a matter of fact now that I think of it it’d probably be my no. 1 destination considering I can’t think of another damned thing to do in Shreveport, though I do have to say I had to spend some time in Monroe a couple times and I enjoyed myself pretty well. Have fun.

Kona Pipeline Porter

One of my favorites.

Lots of flavor yet thin enough to drink several.

Still have a couple left from a year ago since I buy out the store whenever I can find it.

Have not seen it on the shelf at all this year. Seems they may not have brewed it this year?

Dogfish Head coming out with a new light IPA that uses Monkfruit. Slightly Mighty is 95 calories, 3.6 carbs, 4% ABV, 30 IBU. Supposedly they had a team of chemists working on it. Interested to hear reviews if anyone tries it.  :banned:

Holy mother of citrus - ipa from Bronx brewery

i didn’t really pay that much attention to the name and was just figuring I would try something from them since over never had them.

that name is pretty much exactly what I was thinking when I had the first sip.

Im visiting Nashville and Bearded Iris and Southern Grist have by far the best IPAs.

I tasted lots of other local beers and was not impressed at all....yazoo, Tennessee beer works, jack slopes and more that I can’t remember and they were meh

Bearded Iris is pure class though

I had this by Southern Grist yesterday. Very good but different sour.

Imperial Double Fruited Marshmallow Raspberry Hill - 7.3%

SOUR WITH RASPBERRY, MARSHMALLOW AND LACTOSE

(COLLAB WITH

MAST LANDING)

I agree with your overall assessment of Nashville beer. I didn't like Beared Iris much though because I don't really like Hazys. And there list was 100% Hazy IPAs. I liked Tennessee Brew Works. I also really loved a lager focused brewery. Can't seem to find it though.... Also really dug New Heights. Check them out if you haven't.

I had it yesterday. I liked it, but wasn’t blown away— thought the bourbon aging was stronger than I was anticipating.  I still haven’t cracked open my Canadian.

The lager place is Smith & Lentz!

If I get back I will have to check out New Heights and Smith & Lentz.

I enjoyed Hops and Crafts. The owner was very knowledgeable and I was able to taste a ton of beers as he has around  30 taps.  Only downside was pints were $7-8.

I have to thank you for being the only person in this thread that keeps my dream of Lager becoming a popular beer style at breweries alive.  I have been getting more and more turned off by breweries where 80%+ of the tap lists are comprised of IPA's and Pale Ales.  I often find pilsners, porters, and stouts... but rarely find lagers at craft breweries.

Some beers I have recently enjoyed are... Molly Pitcher Peanut Butter Porter.  It is very similar to DuClaw Sweet Baby Jesus but I like it a little better.  It is especially good when you get it straight from the tap at the brewery.  I also had a Great Lakes Elliot Ness Amber Lager yesterday that was surprisingly tasty and delicious.

So had a pretty long hiatus due to work travel, which is now done. I still don't drink much at home that isn't Noon Whistle but in my travels found some pretty great places that I'd go back to in a heartbeat. In no particular order

Night Shift, Boston MA - good to excellent beer along their whole tap list.

Ardent, Richmond VA - solid beer, exceptional sours/wilds

The Veil, Richmond VA - IPAs abound and are excellent. Place is crazy busy all the time.

The Other Half, Brooklyn NY - very good to excellent everything. Stouts, Berliners, Collabs, IPAs, etc. Place is insanely packed all the time.

LIC Beer Project, Long Island City NY - My home away from home. Great place, people and beer.

At home pretty excited to get my first taste of Phase Three brewing....the brewer behind all of More's success is started his own brewery. Gypsy to start with a target of 12-18mths for his own brewery/taproom.

I am having one now after the tigers game at a bar and it’s disappointing. The bottles I had were much much better.

Love The Veil and Ardent's stuff.

Got a house in the mecca of beervana for a couple of nights - Hood River, Oregon area (actually White Salmon, WA but close enough).  Everybody Brewing for dinner tonight, had a terrific Cryo-Chronic IPA and a burrito to celebrate National Burrito day.  Now nursing a Ferment Brewing IPA.  Life is good....hitting pFriem tomorrow and maybe more.

Maybe the 5+ hours of wandering SeaWorld wore me down more than normal, but the Pulp Friction Grapefruit IPA from Motorworks Brewing out of Bradenton, FL was pretty dang refreshing today

Solid choice
SeaWorld has their food and wine fest going on now and generally have really good selections.  I tend to avoid the overt fruity IPAs, but they didn’t mention the grapefruit part for Pulp Friction and I had never heard of the brewery.  Glad they didn’t advertise fully because I quite liked it (numerous times)

Lagers are taking over! I'm telling you. It's happening. Also, pilsners are my favorite lagers. Probably tie dof r favorite style overall with West Coast IPA. Not sure if you knew pilsners were lagers by your post. Pilsners are definitely leading the lager charge in craft beer.
