What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (4 Viewers)

Finally home. I'm going to crack open one of my coveted beers...the 2005 Jolly Pumpkin Fuego Del Otono or "Autumn Fire". Ale brewed with chestnuts and spices.

I don't really know what to expect!
Five bucks says that by the end of next year they release a beer brewed with bleach and gasoline. And it'll be gooooood! Post your comments if you get a chance - nuts in beer is such an odd yet tasty combo.Finishing off the last of my Dominion Spring Brew. Goes REALLY well with hot chips - hell, any spicy food for that matter.
Glad to hear you give positive reviews to the Spring brew. I've heard that I might be getting some of that Spring Brew in a trade really soon...Looking forward to it.
It's a big Pils with this great floral hop character from all of the Saaz - kicks ### with spicy food, the whole sweet-spicy thing going on. Highly enjoyable.

Just got back from picking up a few to start the weekend off with. The haul.
Nice! How many of those have you had previously?Didn't start out with a hefe. Harpoon Summer. It's a kolsch. Not bad.
I have only had the Paulaner Hefe, Paulaner Oktoberfest and the Ayinger Celebrator. The rest will all be firsts for me.
The North Coast beers are really good. Never had the Kristal. I love Wee Heavy. I should buy it a little more often.
Hells yes. I'm a big fan of North Coast.

I might save the Pranqster and Rasputin for tomorrow when my taste isn't dulled.

I have a love/love relationship with Old Rasputin. It gets my FULL attention when I drink it.

I agree. Pranqster is one of my favorite seasonals, too. I had a couple this afternoon at the pub.

I haven't had pranqster in a while. In the past it hasn't been a favorite, I should probably give it another run. I like the style usually.

This is now the 9th longest thread in the FFA. We surpassed the movie draft thread today.

Gonna have a Weihenstephaner Dunkel to celebrate!

Welcome comrade. Me and the Czar Russian imperial stout from Avery just went toe to toe. I won...for now.

 Big beers are only victorious when they attack in numbers.

Received my beer of the month gift today. Again, a bunch of mediocre beers.

I'm rolling with the Tuckerman Headwall Alt. Great head so far..we'll see

Just had a sip of the wife's Atwater Amber....not so bad. Dare could we have a decent shipment this month?!?the horror

3 Philosophers followed a little later by a very fine but unmentionable beer due to BIF restrictions. Big and tasty - someone will have a nice surprise here. Dropping by the beer store tomorrow to see how many they have left.

Just cracked a large bottle of Chimay Premiere
Good times. Grand Reserve is my favorite Chimay, though.
Didn't have it at Kirby Wines where I was picking up a bottle of wine for the GF

This will have to do. Got some Duvel for when this bottle runs dry
Buster's keeps it in stock.Found a new (to me at least) beer store today. Raffe's Deli on Poplar just west of Highland (beside the Taco Bell). GOod selection of imports and micros.
 I assume you're familiar with ZMarket on Highland next to the Chinese Sub Shop (mmmm)?

Not a great rarity collection, but a vast selection of 6-packs of imports/micros.

So what did you think of the three philosophers?

I very much enjoyed it. Not quite as complex as St. Bernardus (and much sweeter), but a close second, given my limited experience with Belgians. Definitely will pick up another, but not an everyday beer.Pretty hammered right now between the 2 beers I've had - usually don't need to go over typos 3 times before posting :nerd:

Don't even bother comparing the 3P to other quads, it shouldn't be in that group. Its a hybrid. I don't know what it is, but it certainly is not quad. And I'm pretty hammered too. I typed half that post with caps locks on before I relized it :)

Got to catching up on several pages of reading in this and came across that site for the Belgians and broke the bank on a Westy 12, St Bernardus 12, Rochefort 10, and a St. Bernardus Prior 8 (had to add a few of the lower brews to get to the $35 limit). Wife will probably #### when she sees that come up on the credit card but I'll get out of the doghouse soon enough to enjoy the brews, hopefully. My store is getting lower so I will need to make a run soon. Have a good drinking weekend and may the foam be with you!!!
You are my ####### hero. God Bless you MIC. God Bless You.

popped in at my hidden secret store up here.. they are really knocking the ball outta the park lately.  they hired on some younger guy who's in to the craft brews.. does a little home brewing.

he's "suggesting" some great stuff.

copped two brand new beers, another Fantome Saison (yes!), an Avery Maharaja and an Okocim Porter.
:hot: Someone around here not named me cleaned out all of the Fantome at my local beer store. I always like to kick off Memorial Day bbqing with a Saison - and that ain't gonna be the one. :(
OUCH

Absolutely. Price sounds a bit high though. Not outrageously high though.I'm having a hefe since it's hot outside. Not that I've been out there. Sitting in the a/c. But still.

I might go out there later. Gotta start building a fence. :hot:

Furley, did you try the Okocim Porter yet. I pimped that a couple of months ago somewhere in this thread. It is easily one of the best Porters I have ever had. Knowing your preferred style a little, I bet you would really enjoy it.

I know that most will disagree, but I'm not a fan of Anchor's Christmas brews. A little heavy on the spice, for me.

Some years are heavier than others. 2002 might be the best beer ever made

Vintage Cellar just lost my entire shopping basket...$80 worth of beer. I need to refill it all over again.

I wonder if thats a message...
Only $80 there, that's not too bad.
I'm about to put in an order at Liquid Solutions now. That place is DANGEROUS. They have so many Oregon/Washington beers I've never heard of.Somebody make it stop.

Currently drinking an Alesmith Anvil ESB. Nice beer. I'm not familiar with the style much, but the me it tastes like a Brown/IPA hybrid of some sort. Good stuff.

I stopped at a new BevMo today that had both the Anvil and the X Pale Ale. First time I've seen Alesmith in Sacramento.

Only good things can come from this. Scratch that, your bank account thinks otherwise.

I had a legendary day at the Stuffed Sandwich. I'll post my entire roster that I brought home later but some of the highlites were:

2000 North Coast Old Ale

2004 North Coast Old Ale

1998 Hair of the Dog Adam

2000 Alesmith Old Numbskull

2003 Alesmith Weizenbock

2003 Alesmith Wee Heavy

:excited:

Talk about dangerous, that's my local store (about 2 miles away). Went in this morning picking up a few things and hung out with the owner and one the beer reps. We sampled some of the new stuff they got in Thursday and Friday that hasn't made the website yet. :banned: Let me know if you want to know about some of those.

Oh yeah, and having my first DFH 120 tonight. The 90 was pretty hoppy for me so this could be interesting.
