What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (3 Viewers)

I thought about getting involved in BIF II, but was afraid I didn't have anything to offer since there are really no local breweries or good beer stores around here.

:
Do it. Thats what potsie thought, too, but youll find you can get more than you thought, and probably some that the recipient hasnt tried. :thumbup
After witnessing the BIF thread today, something tells me BIF II is going to be an absolute cluster ####

Oh, Im on a Hefe kick this week, so Im having a Tucher Hefe right now. Not bad for $2 for a 17oz vs $3 for an Ayinger
Me too. Picked up a Schwelmer yesterday but haven't had it yet. Have some Paulaner too. And a couple of bottles of dunkel weizen.
Which dunkel ya got? I really like the Weihenstephaner. Almost brought a couple home from work but went with the Tucher instead.
Got the Weihenstephaner. Beer store dude talked me into it. (Not like it was a hard sell) :D I was there for the sole purpose of getting/finding 1 beer. We got to talking. Covered the whole gamut. Stouts, IPAs, DIPAs, etc. He almost talked me into a Fullers Vintage Ale. Almost. At $7+ for a 1/2 liter I wanted to look it up first. I might get one and sit on it for a while.BA Link

Weihenstephaner makes one of the few hefe's that I like.
Ever had the Franziskaner?? Its just as good, IMO, but a little more crisp.
LOL @ Wingnut and Tip Top talking about German wheats. Oh how things change.
now they're talking my language. I like Paulaner better than both though.
Same here. Definitely better than Franziskaner. I like Schneider better than Franz too. Hacker makes a good one too if you can find it. I'll be drinking 'em from the source in a little less than 4 months. :pickle:

You won't see me drinking one too often.
Nothing like a good hefe for the first beer of the day when it's hot outside.

I don't have a lot of time to post during the day, work is too busy.  I've got more time to post in this thread in the evening than to participate in the BIF shenanigans during the day.

This is the thread where the real beer talk actually occurs.
 its crazy in there lately. The BIF is full of nutjobs :loco:
:push:

 potsie said the same thing.

as did i.

once i started really looking around and doing some homework i found quite a bit that's interesting.... you'd be surprised.

Fuller,Just keep in mind that when "mr." Furley says "interesting", he means anything above Hamm's and Black Label. So there's a lot of wiggle room for him. Sadly, he includes Old Milwaukee and Milwaukee's Beast in that "interesting" category.

Don't let it keep you from joining though.

he's probably never had some of the finer WI beers. your Hamm's, your Gettleman's, etc. might open his eyes to what a good canned beer is supposed to taste like.

Having my first ever Arrogant ******* Ale. I know I'll be in the minority on this, but I'm not liking it too much. Too hoppy and bitter for me.
Thats what I thought the first time i tried it. I have yet to try it again.

It's memorial day weekend, folks...there's got to be lots of beer for consumption!
:goodposting: Im trying to get through a half day today. I would like to apologize now for future post's this weekend.

Working right now. There will be massive consumption this weekend, but don't think I will be by the computer much at all. Bachelor Party

Took yesterday off from beer so I could overindulge tonight. I currently have 9 six packs and 8 bombers in the pantry. A few more in the fridge. I'm ready.

Damn straight! Hell, I've tried over 2000 brews and potsie only sent 3 duplicates - and each of THOSE were excellent when I had them the first time.

You suck. Seriously, if you haven't been there, go to Andechs. Beer mecca.

Re hefes, it all depends - I like Paulaner, but also Schneider, Erdinger, and Ayinger. The local brewpub makes a stellar one as well - he put in a little Weyermann smoked malt which really adds a neat touch.

First trip to Munich. Flew from VA to GA. From GA to Paris. From Paris to Munich. Take train to Hotel. Checkin. Go to 'fest. At this point we've been up over 24 hours. Drink 7 liters of beer. Actually 6+. Couldn't quite finish off the 7th. Somewhere around the 5th liter I was pushed down face first into the next table over. Seriously, somebody pushed me. Of course, no one would admit to it. The lady I spilled beer on wasn't too happy. Next morning we're on a train to Andechs. I felt like :X

what about Sunday & Monday?
I might need to pick up some more beer. Fortunately, there's a decent beer store near my house that's open on Saturdays. Closed Sundays though, so I should stock up.

Do it anyway. It might take some work, and a lot of extra miles on the car, but if I can pull it off living in one of the worst beer states in the country, anyone can. If nothing else good comes out of it, at least you get to sample a lot of beer while you're shopping around.

Just checking up for ideas for the weekend. Will be hopping by the beer store tomorrow for restocking a a couple of BIF things that have just come around.

Deschutes Obsidian last night (my wife picked - our 9th anniversary, least I could do). Not sure tonight - have my first 3 Philosophers waiting, may have to break that out :banned:

Can't wait for my BIF goodies or to send out (the better part IMO). Wing, if I don't end up next-to-last, you and I will have to hook up on a trade; I think I have some stuff you might be interested in.

Wish I could count how much I have. Although I will be able to after this weekend. ;) I think I am sitting on about 16 6-packs, 25 or so bombers/large bottles and a fresh keg of Sierra Nevada. I should have enough. I least I hope so. :banned:

Speaking of roadtrip, the G/F and I are heading to Sierra Nevada on Monday for a mid-day lunch and beer drinking session. It's nice to be less than an hour away.

You should get in. We'll just work it out so you send to bax.

Gonna finish off the night with a Hops Infusion. Remember trying this a few years ago when I first started getting into good beer and not liking it. Hopefully it's better now.
Massively better - there is now malt to balance the hops and a really neat hop profile as well. Did you get one with the yellow label, or the one with the blue label with a big green hop on the sonofagun?
Yellow. Looks just like this. Is the blue the old one? It does seem to be pretty well balanced. As I remember from before, it was a bit (understatement) hop overloaded. I'm liking it.
That's the last of the old label. The new one looks like this. Same brew, though - they changed the recipe about 6 months ago.
I'm off work so I am sipping on one of these right now. Nice hop aroma, with both grassy and citrusy undertones. Not quite as hoppy as advertised, and not much malt presence. Overall though it is a good easy drinking IPA.
