What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (1 Viewer)

I love a good Pilsner. The problem is that not a lot of brewers make a good one. Sudwerk, a local brewery, does a good job and I'm still hoping to find a Victory Prima Pils around soon.
GB living in Pennsylvania - aka Lager-land, aka Pilsner-vania!Oh, see if you can get someone to trade you this in excahnge for some of those juicy left coast IPAs - it will be worth it!

Hopefully they'll start distro to VA soon. Or at least to western PA so I can get my b-i-l to send/bring me some.ETA: And not just the pilsner. Looks like great reviews for many of their beers.
And rightfully so, as they are a great brewery! They've recently "invaded" central PA... it's only a matter of time until they hit the western PA markets.

Had Founders Centennial IPA yesterday. Actually a few of them.

Thoughts? This one a beer Im targeting next week in Michigan, along with their breakfast stout.
It didn't suck. Had a little bit more bite to it at the end than I expected. But the overall flavor was very good. Also try their Pale Ale, as I thought that was actually better. I have another couple beers from them I haven't tried yet, so I'll have to get on that soon. Work, work.

I read somewhere (BA forum I think), an interview with Sam of DFH that said California wouldnt be an option till sometime in '07....maybe things have changed since I read it...What I wanna hear is that Stone is coming to Florida. Fat chance that itll happen within 5 years.

OK, all beers from now on in abbreviated from.

DFHIB

DFHRDE

SNPA

BWFH

etc, al

That way, no one will know what we are talking about.

Greg posted this on BA in regards to Stone making it to NC or GA:
Thanks for the good word guys! Much appreciated.

We've been working like crazy to 1) get the new brewery open and 2) brew as much beer as we can until then.

Once we get it open, we have a few states that we have to take care of...first, the ones we're already in but undersupplying! Yes, it may be a while, possibly a few years, before we can get to NC or GA. We're pedaling as fast as we can!

Your emails, posts, and good words DO show on the radar and ARE helpful. With each new step we take, we pay a lot of attention to where there is the most demand!

Cheers,

Greg

Heres an email I got from Stone back in October when I inquired about possibly loking to distribute to Florida in the future:
Wingnut, thanks for the email. We never get tired of hearing from the people out there that are passionate enough about our beers that they take the time to write and tell us how they feel.

As you know, we are not distributed in Florida and the closest state to you is probably Tennessee. Furthermore, we are not allowed to ship directly from the brewery due to CA law covering distributors. However, below is a list of three places that will ship our beers...of course the cost is a little more but you owe it to your palate, right? As for getting a distributor in Florida – it’s going to be awhile. Although we are about to move into our new brewery, we will not be up to speed with our current markets until mid-to-late 2006 and then we will start looking at new territories...perhaps even Florida.

We really appreciate the support and keep on spreading the words of Stone and the Arrogance!

digging through some old emails.. came across this

Best Beers In The World

The Best Beer in the World. Period.

Saison Dupont

Origin: Belgium

Alcohol content by volume: 6.5%

With its luminous orangey-blond color and huge, rocky head, this beer just looks great. But wait till you taste it: Like other saisons, Dupont's is made with a secret mix of herbs that give it an addictive earthy taste and an agreeable bitterness. At 6.5 percent, it's also got a mild kick, which balances a range of citrusy, malty flavors that even wizened beer connoisseurs struggle to describe. "Impossibly delicious," says legendary brewmaster Garrett Oliver. Saison Dupont is the "desert island beer" of many men (Oliver and present company included). Pop a cork, guys -- we think you'll feel the same way

I had this on tap over the weekend, it was quite good. But I actually am not fond of it in the bottle.

Tyranena Bitter Woman from Hell Extra India Pale Ale

Wow, this is a good beer!

Thanks to furley, now time to head to Hudson to get some for myself.

I've seen their list before. Can't say I agree with them. Ridgeway Bitter the best bitter/ale? Not even close. Rochefort 10 the best Belgian? Close, but no. I had a chance to get the Kulmbacher Shwarzbier today, but passed. I'm sure it's good, but doubt it's the second best dark beer.

Got my shipment from Archers today.

3 3F Dreadnaughts

1 3F Gumballhead

1 3F Rabbid Rabbit

1 3F Brian Boru

1 Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald Porter

1 Goose Island Demolition

Stoked about the Dreadnaughts

Had the Demo over the weekend, and wasn't all that impressed. Obviously, it's not on the same level as the Imperial IPA. But even my lowered expectations for the Demo weren't met. I dunno, maybe it just isn't my style of beer.ETA: Just re-read the BA reviews, and maybe it was the alcohol taste at the finish that put me off. I just know that this was a beer that I doubt I could drink more than one at a sitting. Quite honestly, this is the first GI beer that I can really say that about. Although, I won't touch the Kilgubbin Red at all any more. Never did like that one. But maybe that's just my anti-red-beer thingy talking. You have one Killian's Red and you're tainted for life.

I've finally cracked the hard outer shell of the Stuffed Sandwich and have entered the inner sanctum. Perhaps its because Sam was dazzled with my beer knowledge and intrigued by my selections...Or maybe its because I drop a lot of coin when ever I go there.

Received an invite yesterday to a private dinner hosted there on Sunday (they are closed Sundays and Mondays). A private chef will be there cooking a five course meal and Sam will do a tasting of...English beers :wall:

As you know I'm really not a fan of English beers, but if some one can pull if off then its going to be Sam. I'm really going so I'm invited to future events, don't want to risk not going and not being invited to the next event.

I think the plan is to get me sauced and buy a bunch of beer.

I've only had it in the bottle...and I loved it.It reminded me of the DERG, with a little cross of ERF and some WERFV,ERD mixed in for good measure. All in all a good beer, better than CCCP, but not quite in the class of a GFY,A.

Hope that clears things up.
