What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (2 Viewers)

I scored a Sam Adams Chocolate Bock tonight but drank some margaritas instead - a friend came over that makes kick ### margaritas so I said WTH and held off on the SACB for now.

Tomorrow night Im all over it though.
Drink it closer to warm than cold

OK, so I'm not sure how to proceed here. Either you're asking me if I'm going marry bakes or someone. Or you remember the question I had for bakes about Pittsfield. Being an optimist, I'll assume the second choice.

Any potential move to Pittsfield is undecided right now. We have only had an informal talk about moving there with the company involved. It never even got to the plannign stages or anything past the first 30 minute conversation. I know it got escalated to a manager, but nothing came of that yet. So we'll see. If we go there, it would be for my wife's job. I would just move up my timetable to go live with my trading account. As of now, I am set to launch in Q2 2007. But any changes to my wife's work status at her current job would accelerate any plans to move.

So right now, it's on hold I suppose.
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: I was joking about you and Furley's upcoming nuptials!

But good luck on the potential move.
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: that certainly didn't go the way i expected either. wtf??

Which brewpub in Asheville?  I need to hit that town sometime for a few days - it's like a beer mecca in the mountains. Hell, I picked up the BHM at the Ahseville Wine Market when we were screaming through (literally - you had to hear my daughter) towards Gatlinburg.
Jack of the Wood was the beer pub, and if you ever find yourself down this way for any extended time, make sure to send me a PM. For its size, its a great beer town.
I was looking for things to throw in my BIF box over the weekend and found a coaster for that place
Please do not circumvent the "Secrecy for BIF beer schwag" filter. TIA.

 Will do. Heard good things about JotW from a few people I know who have been there.

Smuttynose IPA on sale again. Bought a case. Remain addicted to the stuff.

Finestkind. The thin dude on the label passed away last year. He was well into his 80s, maybe his 90s. The dude with the glasses still visits the brewery on a regular basis.

LOVE that brewery.
I have fallen in love with the beer. Need to take a drive up there sometime to pay homage.
I have a better idea - head over to Ocean Township for the Heavyweight open house on Saturday. They're closing in July (going to try and start a brewpub/beer bar in the Philly metro area) and if you haven't, you *need* to try Tom Baker's brews. Smutty is worth the pilgrimage - plus the Portsmouth Brewery, a brewpub affiliated with Smuttynose and which has, among others, NE brewing legend Tod Mott at the controls of the brewhouse (he's the one levitating), is nearby and worth visiting as well.
:banned:

Sounds like a bad quad - had a couple a while back and never got any vinegar out of it.

Just popped open a 2005 Terrapin Big Hoppy Monster Imperial red ale. Great "Big Daddy Roth" style hotrod on the label, which is appropriate as this stuff pours like Valvoline.

Ohhhh, man, is this good. Hoppy but huge malt as well. Like someone took two Smithwicks, condensed them, then went ape with American hops - I'm getting Cascade, Amarillo... Diggin' it, big time.
I'm still aggravated that I found out about this beer just after the last batch disappeared. I've heard nothing but good things and willl be loading up in the fall.

Not going to go back 100 pages to see if this was discussed, but I bought a 12-pack of Sessions Lager. Oregon beer that's extremely tasty. Comes in little stubby bottles.

Hey bakes (or anybody else in NY),

Taking a vacation to NYC starting next Friday (6/9). I've already bookmarked a couple of stores and beer bars near our hotel, but I'm still trying to figure out exactly which beers I should pick up that I can't get here in GA. Oh, and I've already had (or have) a lot of the DFH & Stone beers. I'm thinking the Southampton beers might be a good bet if I can find them. And maybe some Victory since I haven't had any of theirs yet. Any others?

Full Sail session lager. Come in 11oz bottles. Good as far as lagers go. I could drink 20 of these puppies in a day.

:goodposting: I prefer Deschutes to Full Sail as a brewery overall, but this is one FS beer I like to come back to.

Not sure what I'll have tonight - have a DFH Raison D'Etre I've been chilling for a while, so that will likely be on the menu.

You definitely need to get some Victory. All I've tried are good/great. I've had a couple of different ones from Southampton and they're really good. See if you can find some Sixpoint. I had a couple of samples at a fest. Really good.

 I agree with all of the above. I think that Middle Ages distributes to NYC now - if so, anything in a bomber is exceptionally good. Southern Tier is a long time favorite - their IPA is outstanding - but I can't get their big brews here in Albany so who knows if they're in NYC. Captain Lawrence is a new brewery in Westchester, but I don't know if they're bottling yet - if so, the initial reviews are solid. Brookyn Black Chocolate Stout. There are probably a ton more, but that'll give you a start.

I love a good Pilsner. The problem is that not a lot of brewers make a good one. Sudwerk, a local brewery, does a good job and I'm still hoping to find a Victory Prima Pils around soon.
You ought to be able to get it considering I have two different sources where I can buy it up here in Redding. I've seen that, Hopdevil (which I've bought a few sixers of), V12, some other Belgian style one, and something else I can't recall.

Going to the beer store. You know what that means FatMax.
Belgian IPA's?
Going to FatMax:1 Houblon Chouffe Dobbelen IPA Tripel

1 Highland Tasgall Ale

1 Weyerbacher Double Simcoe IPA

2 Victory Prima Pils (unless as MIC states that he can find it)

I also got for the wife and I:

Dogfish Head 90 Minute

Lost Coast Indica IPA (Michelle loves it)

St. Bernardus Abt 12

Another Double Simcoe

The rest of the Prima Pils

Very nice, what do you get in return?

You're gonna hate the DFH 90. I tried it once. Awful stuff. Better just go ahead and send it to me, and I'll get rid of it. Happy to help.ETA:

I'm currently having my last Lamar Street Pale Ale. An organic pale by Goose Island. Decent. Not sure I'll get any more since the organic schtick doesn't really add anything to the actual beer. But still a decent Pale Ale. Just lots of stuff out there that's a lot better. Just not that DFH 90 crap. Nosirree.

Sipping on a Ommengang Hennepin right now. I don't know why I don't buy this beer more often. They have these street parties downtown in the summer once a month. This year, they had Hennepin on tap. GB the new beer laws.

Had a bottle a few weeks back. Great stuff.

Wow, this is bad. Poured with absolutely no head at all. Flat malt taste with a hint of vinegar. I think I may have gotten a bad bottle of this, as the reviews aren't that bad. It's Thursday. Where are the beer drinkers?
I had to get some St. Bernardus to remind me what a great Quadruple is supposed to taste like. I love this beer. I want to move to Massachusetts and marry it.

Sweet. I'll be ready to go sometime late next week. I have all the beers present at home with the exception of the Bear Republic beer, though it is easy for me to get.MIC, the only Victory I've seen around here is the Golden Monkey. Bevmo doesn't stock it for some stupid reason, and the little local stores suck for the most part.

OK, I'm leaving work. I'll report back this evening unless I get forced to go out to dinner, in which case I'll be back, but a little later.

Stone Russian Imperial StoutStone Old Guardian Barleywine

Beerwerks Bourbon Barleywine (local beer)

Bear Republic Racer 5 or Hop Rod
I got a Beerwerks Bourbon Barleywine from FatMax as well. Gonna try to sit on that pup for a little while, see how it turns out.If you decide to bust into yours, please do post the results.

My lack of patience guarentees that I will be drinking this not long after receiving it. I'll certainly post my thoughts.

Let me know what you think of the Weyerbacher Simcoe. It (finally after three weeks of pleading on my part) just came in to Oliver's today - got the first bottle off the rack. Popping it later on tonight.Currently listening to a Wailing Wench yell bitter blisters to my tastebuds because it's ice cold. It'll warm up and the malt will come out. I love beers that do that trick.

Southampton IPA now. Good, but rather one dimensional - like drinking a picture of an IPA. Either it's the depth of the Wench or maybe I'm just in the mind to get ripped, but I get a solid hop hit, decent malt-hop balance in the flavor, good finish, but I want *more* dammit!!!

Had a debate between this and another brew for the BIF. Chose the other and after trying both would likely make the same choice again.
