What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (2 Viewers)

Beatification Update

Update #2, circa 5:19

It's poured. Half-inch head. White. Smell the citrus and flowery smell of the beer. One word: Yummy. Color is goldish-amber. But then again I'm somewhat color-blind, so I'm the wrong person to ask. Plus I'm a guy. I really don't care what color it is. This beer looks great, but smells even better. The head is settling down into a thin film now. I hope it knows I am serious about drinking it, and not being bamboozled by its beauty and aroma....

Stay tuned.

Update #1, circa 5:16pm

A soft "pop" and the cork comes out. A little whisp of cloud comes out and I smell the beer. There's a little flowery smell, but generally it's beer.

I'm going in.
It may smell like beer, but it doesn't taste like any beer you've had to date....guaranteed.

Holy ####. Skylord has never in his life written truer words than he did a few posts up. I have never ever tasted a beer like this before. This may be the beer version of crystal meth for me. I must have more.

Beatification Update

Update #4, circa 5:24

I am pained to drink any more, lest this addictive nectar that is in the glass before me be gone from this earth. I really don't know if I can mentally handle drinking the last drink of this beer in this glass right here. I don't ever ever want to part with this liquid. I think I'll just smell it and look at it for a long while. I might miss work this week. And the week after that. I'm 50/50 to make it in to work again before October. We'll see. I am not optimistic. And I can assure you that I won't if I can find a place to order any more than I already have in my basement.

Tip Top, I want that bottle back.

Its funny because this exact same thing happened to my friend when he tasted Supplication. He refused to drink anything else for a month and a half. Ultimately we drank thru the entire stock of Los Angeles until there was no more.I haven't let him sample my Beatification because I know what will happen

Technically, I have 4 more down in the basement. But we won't discuss that. If I find out that I have four more down there, they are as good as gone by nightfall.

So technically speaking you could be drinking one right now?

Skylord,

How is Damnation? I see they have that bottled and available now. Thinking about ordering some. I assume it's somewhat lesser than this. But is it worth picking up a few (hundred) bottles?

A word on availability here. As in past years, Darius was in attendance at BCTC personally pouring the imports he offers. Among these of course is the STB line, at least most of it. The 6 I went on about so much last year was not present, nor was the Abt12 Special Edition. Well, they were but in very limited quantities. Bless his heart, he kept a (single) bottle of the 6 in his car, opened it when he saw me and then hid it for me! I think besides myself JimKs wife Michelle got a sample as did a mystery girl who was there when I was getting my last couple ounces. And there was a bit of Special Edition too, though to my knowledge it did not get opened.

During the Friday night brewers welcome event he asked me to walk over to his car. While there he pulled a tin out of his back seat that contained a bottle of the special edition. He said so far he is the only person in the US who has had his hands on a bottle of his imported stock. Then he handed it to me and said "now you're the second!" Shortly there after Chuck Cook became the 3rd. He told me to enjoy the exclusive status as a A12SE bottle owner while I can, in about a week and a half it will be out there and available (if people decide to put it on the shelf in the summer). So very soon people in addition to Chuck, Diane and myself can be proud owners of this exciting brew!

So any rumors that this stuff will be an eternal mystery to us need to be forever put to rest, it appears the US has been treated VERY well here.

Its good but not in the same realm. But its definately worth a buy. Coincidence, I bought a Damnation and Temptation today.

This beer is very tart on the after-taste a few minutes afterward. Kinda nice and crisp on a day like this. In all seriousness, and aside from the only-half-kidding "crystal meth" comments, this is a ####### outstanding beer. I can certainly see where they get the "sour" from in the description.

For the record, this beer was my first review on BA. Just finished it. It got a 4.85 from me. I liked it that much.

Maybe I'll just have to scoop up more of this by any means possible. Including knee-capping Tip Top in order to get that bottle back.

The beer is finished. The taste lingers in my mouth, and I honestly wonder if I ever want to brush my teeth again. Part of me says No. The rest of me is struggling to find a counter-argument that that sentiment. The "No" part of me is currently winning. We'll see...

As I mentioned before, this was my first review on BA. I think I picked a very good beer for the review. I ended up giving it a 4.85 rating. And while I think this beer lives up to that rating, it may have been somewhat generous since I got myself caught up in this hype. Regardless, this is one excellent beer. Certainly one of the top few I have ever tasted. And maybe, after all, it is therefor deserving of that rating from me. I have four more bottles to find out.

Tip Top, and anyone else, when you finally open this beer I am certain you will appreciate it. It's simply THAT good. In the end, it left me wanting a lot more. And that was a good thing. I could drink this on tap at the brewery all day. It was light, and tasty, and finished very well.

Where did you find a Temptation? That hasn't been bottled in over a year.

"The Wine House".Also got an Old Foghorn 2005, Moylander and a Rochefort 10 to name a few.

Think I mentioned it before, but a freind of mine is working hard (and thinks he's close) to becoming the distributor for Russian River in the area. :fingerscrossed:

Yes I did. But let's be realistic and mention that this beer is not for everyone. I guess it's technically listed as a Flemish Sour in many places. And it is every bit of that. Sour, citrus, flower, and wood. That's what you get from the beer. On hot days like today, it is seriously easy to put down, even with the sour after-taste. And the after-taste isn't overwhelming at all. But it's there, for sure. Like I said, some people will point to that sour taste and say that is why they don't like it. And that's fine. It's not a beer for everyone, even beer fans of many stripes. But I loved it. And I can't wait until I try one from the 001-PH1 Batch that you got. I've read conflicting reports about which one is more sour, and which one is stronger, etc. So I'll be interested to read what you say, and to try it myself some time.If I could somehow get more, I would. But I wouldn't get crazy and pay through the nose for this beer. Too many other great beers that are equally as good in similar styles to pay stupid prices for this. Not sure but I would think $12-15 each plus shipping might be my max. That's a decent markup from the $10 each that RRBC charged initially. But I seriously doubt I can find it, even at that price. Anyway, I think you'll enjoy it. I did, obviously.

My wife is drinking tonight as well, but she prefers beer.
BTW, you look a little weak at K in your 1-team Dynasty League. But I don't want to turn this into an Asst Coach forum thread.
