What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (2 Viewers)

 Talking keg or bottles/cans? Playing ball, drinking from a keg using plastic cups...About anything will do. If it's bottles I'd probably go Sam Adams.
Keg. We are going to plant that bad boy at first and see if it last's an hour. :banned:

bakes, no more reviews. Have you had any more of the beers from BIF II?
Been on vacation since Saturday and am rollin' with local brews this week. The fridge at home is well stocked with Tip Top offerings, so Sunday should be a very, umm, *stout* day.
Guess I will read the reviews when I get back from Cancun.
You suck. ;)
5 year anniversary and a present for my wife completing law school. And the best part, poker is paying for it.
 Nicely done all around! Seriously - have a great time. Hopefully there will be decnet brew and if not, there's always booze. :banned:

Nice. Congrats. BTW, can I get your wife's business card? TIA.

I'd probably go with something local. But maybe Bakes is right. The gut buster might be more fun. You certainly have to stay in the lager territory. Can't have anything too crazy out there.

You can claim poker winnings, but we all know your wife is paying for it. ;)

How many people would be drinking off of it? If you do it with only 18 people, killing it in less than an hour would be a serious accomplishment.

Maybe they're talking a sixtel. :shrug:Speaking of which, I need to pick up one tomorrow. BIL's 50th birthday.

Moose head is $98 for 13gal. There will be 8 of us. Last time 10 of us killed one in just about 2 hours. The 1hr was a playful exaggeration. :banned: Sloshball for us = two teams of 3-4. I have a good sized backyard with the left, right and center feilds measured off. Two bats. One will get thrown over the fence or broken. 10-12 of those big wiffle balls. The one's that really sting if they hit you in the face. And we go from there. Keg at first. beer must be gone to score.(short bases) If you hit a HR the opposing team has to chug a brew. Good times.

Just cracked the FatMax homebrew, his "Hoppy Amber". Pours darker than a typical amber with a huge fluffy head and tons of bubbles racing to the surface. Smells of sweet caramel malts with hops in the background. Tons of caramel malt with a bit of hops in there taste wise. Much like the smell. Medium bodied. Not bad at all, especially if this really was your first try at homebrew.

This box would've somehow been bigger had NG not been sending to him at the same time. I had to get a list to make sure not to double up. I think I still found plenty that Skylord hasn't tried.

Was there really that much in there that you are still opening?
Yes. I thought I was done and had arranged everything for pictures. Got pictures of NG's box first. Then I noticed the smaller box in the one you sent. There is like ten more beers in there. :loco:

The Summit Great Northern Porter and Lake Superior Special Ale are of BOTM, fyi.

Skylord, just curious how many of the beers I sent you have tried? And that Sprecher Imperial Stout bottle is pretty cool huh? I didn't even notice it was cobalt blue right away.

Not a one. Some of them I had no idea existed. Holy crap there is a lot of beer in the Midwest. Out off NG's I'd only sampled Dreadnaught. That Sprecher's reminds me that I still haven't drink the Left Hand oak imperial stout you sent ages ago. Third coast old ale, Sibernian night, mead, two different bourbon barrel beers....you out did yourself. Just crazy. I've got some serious work out in front of me to match this box.

Actually I take that back, I've had the Sprecher black bavarian but haven't rated it.

Excellent to hear. The 10 squared from Fish Tale is retired. I should've bought everything they had of that one.

:jealous:Max, you got any left for sending?

OK, here we go.

My haul from NG

First picture of Tip Top box

Tip Top haul part 1

Tip Top haul part 2

Empty box

I'm exhausted. Thank you both NG and Tip Top.

I need a :banned:
furley's in a bad spot if he wants to trade with you now. There is still stuff out there, but it's much more limited now.
:hot: btw - drinking a Lake Louie Dino's Dark. this is my 5th (including a pint of 2003 Alaskan Smoked Porter and a bomber of Big Boss Porter :drunkbanana:) so no intelligent commentary is forthcoming.

Goose Island IIPA

Holy balls, Batman. This stuff really IS in the same tier as Dreadnaught. Thanks a bunch, George. WOW.

No? I just had a Dread, and now Im having the GI. Theyre not too far apart at all. Very similar, and in the same neighborhood.
I don't think it is as good as Dreadnaught, but agree that it is a stellar IIPA. Neither are as good as Dreadnaught on tap though. ;)

I know you guys have been saying this all along. I'll have to try another bottle one of these days. But as far as I'm concerned, no IPA or DIPA comes close to Dreadnaught. I've got a Ruination chilling in the fridge for this weekend to rate, so that should be an interesting test.

Go #### yourself. ;)

I didnt say it was "as good", but its in the same tier, IMO. A notch below, but maybe the closest Ive had to the almighty Dread.

I am heading to my local est. for a beer fridge refill... I need some steller ideas. I am a snob like ya'll, but usually stick to what I know, so would love to try some new ones. Please suggest, and I will try those if available and if never had.

You will be my favorite beer sn00b if u hook me up with a winner like the Dogfish IPA's.

Do a tasting of both, one after the other. Im really surprised how close it is...To me, its not *quite* as good, but its alot closer than I though any IIPA could be (as far as all the IIPAs Ive tried so far)2nd Edit: With the GI IIPA, I dont get the "mustiness" flavor I get in the Dread...for some reason when I drink the Dread I get some musty wet-blanket tones in there somewhere, but for some reason, its not a bad thing.

You should have tons of good options being in MI. Can't go wrong with Founders or Bell's. For Founders, I really like the Centennial IPA and Red's Rye for their year round stuff. Bell's Two Hearted obviously, but maybe you will be lucky and run across one of their new beers; Hopslam (DIPA), Hell Hath No Fury (Belgian), or their Oktoberfest.
