What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (2 Viewers)

Not really experienced in smoked beers, but the ones that I have tried I liked a lot.

Tonight I'm taking it easy. Having a couple of Boonts and maybe a Mirror Pond.

Victory Yellow Monkey...9.5% alcohol...
Golden Monkey.I was actually at the Victory Brewpub yesterday: had the cask conditioned versions of HopDevil and Uncle Teddy's Bitter. Took home a 6pack of the 10 year alt, and a growler of the Tripilsner.
You stink. No, seriously, you do. Cask Hop Devil is one of the great pleasures on this earth. :banned:  I still remember my first trip to Victory. Came in from the west. You can't see the freaking place from the west. Covaleski is one hell of a brewer and a really cool dude to boot. Two of their ex-assistant brewers recently reopened the brewpub in Pittsfield MA - outstanding beer and very good food as well. Highly recommended if you head outside of the 309 corridor - but with all of the great breweries and brewpubs in SE PA, is there really a need to?
It's funny how it seems like the great breweries concentrate in very small geographic areas.

Speaking of which...this weeks purchases:2 6 packs of Troegs Nugget Nectar

2 6 packs of Victory 10 year Alt

1 6 pack of Troegs Oatmeal Stout

I'm a happy man!

I seriously love the Victory brewing company. It was a beautiful day when they started distributing out to California. It had been many years since I had had them. And the Storm King....oh the Storm King. What a wonderful stout.

Now on to Victory's 10 yesr Alt.
:wall: This was on tap at one of my local beer haunts. Unfortunately it lasted less than a week and I was left out in the cold. I'll keep an eye out to see if it makes it down here in bottles. At least the Hop Devils in the fridge will console me.

I can't believe how excited I get when a new beer delivery arrives. Opening it up is better than Christmas. Getting the chance to put my hands on bottles that I've only dreamed of is really, really cool. I feel like a little kid right now.

Thanks Wingnut. You're good people. I especially liked how you packed the Dreadnaught IPA .... like you were preparing it for an interstate pileup while on delivery. I kid, but with a beer like that, I would have done the same thing. It worked however. It, as well as the rest, came through perfectly. If anybody wants a rundown of what was in the box, it's a few pages back in this thread.

Also, some of this thread's regulars, like Kilgore, 3c's, bakes, Jaysus, and others should really sign up for Wingnut's Beer it Forward. It is a blatant rip off of the Beer Advocate idea, but it is a really cool concept that would give all of us beer lovers a chance to spread the joy of craft brews.

Crackin a Moylanders Double IPA - Man this brew is tasty. :excited:
Just found out that a supermarket about 20 miles from my house has this. I'm going to pick some up this weekend. In related news, I'm a ####### dork to drive 20 miles for one beer.

what's the word on Fat Tire Amber Ale?

new restaurant (Old Chicago's Pasta & Pizza) is opening up here.. they serve over 100 beers (mostly standard ####) but this is one of them. worth a try?

they also have, of all things, Chimay Red.

Fat Tire is decent brew. I conider it along the lines of a Newcastle. It kind of has a chocolate or coffee aftertaste, which is kind of nice. Where i live, it is now served everywhere, but it is good. I also went to the brewery (new belgium), and they make lots of good stuff. It is not in the same league as the belgians, like Chimay.

Girardin Gueuze Black Label. I'm looking forward to this, today was a brutal day at work.
So my wife just asked for a sip of my beer and I didn't tell her the style. She took a huge swig and her face seriously contorted as the massive sourness overtook her. That was really funny, I'm feeling better already.

Thanks beer.

For an underdeveloped beer palate, Fat Tire is worth a try.
 my other options are St Pauli Girl, Miller, Bud, Coors, etc. this is about as exotic as it gets there i think.

beer list
Are you kidding? Celebrator Doppelbock is one of the best brews ever created on planet earth. No joke.
i know nothing about it.

guess that shoots to the top of the list.

You're right - lots of schwag on that list, but a handful of good ones (many of which I'm sure you're familiar with):- Anchor Steam

- Old Peculier

- Pilsner Urquell (only if it's on draft - green bottle = :X )

- SNPA

- Ayinger Altbairisch Dunkel

- Boulder beers

- Hazed and Infused

And the already mentioned Celebrator. Also both Samuel Smith brews. McEwans isn't bad. Pretty decent list of beers.

I love me some Hazed and Infused  Great refreshing APA. One of my favorites. I think youd like it, Furley.
