yes - I didn't really get grossed out - it was heavenly. Its like getting the most sour candy as possible when your a kid. It makes your face contort even though you could go ten degrees more sour.

Times TWO! :pickle:

I think I'm only going to sample one new trade beer per day.
Things change.Had me some Prior 8. God, how I love a good Belgian.
I'm about to try a La Moneuse Special Noel. Another Belgian Xmas beer. Its April and I'm still finding Belgian Xmas beers I've never had (or in this case, heard of). I certainly do like Xmas beers, especially Belgians. We'll need to set up a BIF for Xmas beers this year. I bet we'd have a good turnout

Whats up Trout.

I'm sitting here in my funky #### mustard yellow long sleaved shirt with the crazy logo and realized its from your stomping grounds...

Bought it at the Jack of the Wood brewery last time I was in town. How's that place doing? Still up and running?
My favorite local watering hole.Yeah, they are definitely still up and running. I don't know how long it's been since you've been here, but the new brewer is a huge Belgian fan and has brewed a very nice triple as well as a nice Belgian dark stong ale that is very good. Obviously let me know if you are ever down this way again.

I certainly will  . I enjoyed the hell out of myself in Asheville. Its seriously a beer drinkers paradise. Lots of breweries, every bar had premiere bottles and taps....It was all about the beer. I travelled all the way across the United States to find two types of Rogue on tap I'd never seen before. Everytime I visit we make the 100 mile pilgrimage.

My father moved to NC quite a few years ago from Northern California to do of all things...open a winery. And he and his business partner did.

Raffaldini Winery. Located in Ronda, NC. Stop by sometime if you are ever in the neighborhood.

He feels about wine how I feel about beer.

I will definitely stop by if I am in that area. I don't think there is that much difference between beer and wine connoisseurs. I'm certainly more educated in the beer realm, but I think I could learn to appreciate a fine wine. I'm glad your father decided to move out of wine country to start up a winery ;) .

Shocked me but he was right. He was the vineyard manager for a premiere winery in Sonoma. He said that he could grow grapes in the climate. A lot of people with tobacco land that aren't farming anymore looking for something to grow. And who wouldn't want to grow wine grapes?

Land is too expensive in California. Get a lot of bang for your buck in NC. So far so good. And periodically I get to go eat world class BBQ

Our climate isn't as good as the wine valleys of the west coast, but there is a young wine community here that is trying to make a go of it. I think with the name and heritage that you father's vineyard is bringing should do very well. I will keep an eye out for the label when I'm out and about.

I must sadly admit that I've never tasted the Sierra Celebration Ale. Shame on me.

But tonight I'm drinking a local favorite, Gordon Biersch, Marzen. Blonde Bock is my favorite of theirs though, but is hard to find in stores.

I'm digging this Sam Adams black lager right now. Its got a toffee popcorn thing going on...been a while with this one, I was expecting something much weaker.

Sam Adams...best macro brewery in the US, if not the world.

Yes sir.The beer is brutal. It might be the bitterest beer I've ever had in my entire life. That stacked on all the alcohol makes it quite a journey.
more bitter than the Tyranea Bitter Woman IPA?

God, I was hammered last night, and hammered early. That's what happens when you put me in front of a few dozen good beers and clean pint glass.

WTF?
Man, those Drakes and ******* kicked my ### last night (and a few celebrations to boot). Gonna go with the Mad River tonight to start off, then probably a Racer 5.
The Mad River is OK, but I liked the Drakes and Quail Springs better. Still, an average West Coast IPA is still pretty good by most other standards.

I've never had it. Thats a Wisconsin beer.Unfortunately Wisconsin is in my beer blind spot :(

Keystone Light pounder right now. It's 5:34 here. That's considered "tonight", right? What if I started at 3:00? That's still night, right? I waited until after noon, for God's sake.

Heavy Seas Peg Leg Imperial Stout (really good Stout for 6.50/six). (clippercitybeer.com)

Quail Springs IPA. Not bad, but not one of the best WC IPAs. But its still good.

The Mad River IPA reminds me of a local beer, Dunedin Brewery's Piper Pale Ale.

Neither are bad at all, easy drinkers, but Drakes owns both of them.

Holy schnikies, I almost had a disaster.

I put a Racer 5 in the freezer to chill quickly....You know where this is going....4 hours later I remembered and pulled it out. it looked frozen solid. I stuck the bottle in a pitcher with tap water, and within 5 minutes, the ice was gone and it was liquid again.

THAT was close.

Moylans IPA now. Really carbonated for some odd reason.

Nice head though. Beautiful bouquet.

This isn't your standard west coast IPA. Has a little something extra that I can't put my finger on....I assume its because of the dry hopping mentioned below.

We dry hop this brew and use a combination of Fuggles and Chinook hop varieties resulting in an extremely enticing floral and spicy aroma as well as hop character.

Unique IPA. Not bad.

Please tell me you didn't ruin it. Please. I swear, I'll call the cops and send them to your place for abuse.

Just finishing a 6 pack of Mendochino IPA...and I have to work at 5am tomorrow morning.
What the hell? I live two hours from the brewery and haven't seen that beer.
I was a little surprised when I saw it at the liquor store too. To top it off it was only $5.99 a 6 pack!

It was fine and tasty. Trust me, If I ruined it I wouldnt have posted the story...When I first pulled it out of the freezer I thought it was solid, but it just looked that way...after a minute in the pitcher I knew it would be ok :bag:

hey furley, its Saturday night....crack one of those beers!!!!!!!!!
finally got to drink a little last nite.had a Racer 5 that Wingnut sent me. GREAT beer. best IPA i've had. let it warm up a little for about 15 minutes. kept tasting better and better as time passed.

then i had a Rogue Dead Guy Ale. fine beer. not the best i've had but almost too easy to drink. usually i take a while to knock back a beer.. i probably killed this one in about 15 minutes.

and lastly i had a Falls Nut Brown Ale from the Falls Brewing Company in Oconto Falls, WI. loved it. little sharp at first but as it warmed it kept getting better and better.. interesting nutty, chocolate, flavor. excellent beer. makes me glad that i bought a 6-pack on a whim a little while back.. seriously considering making this part of the BIF shipment.

I was wondering how you could part with one. First a Dreadnaught, then a Racer. That's like giving up your kids. Tough.BTW, I'm drinking the Dreadnaught right now. Just a quick review for all of you. It is, hands down, the best IPA that I have ever had. Period. Funny, because I usually don't like the piney hops (ala Anchor Brewing), but Three Floyds does it perfectly with exceptional balance. I really can't see how it would be possible to improve on this beer. Thanks Wingnut. Really. I appreciate getting this more than you know.

 Its unreal, isnt it? The aroma alone is worth seeking it out. Im trading a couple of Allagash Tripels for a couple more this week. If I could get this stuff locally I wouldnt drink much else.

How do you ship the 750ml bottles in small quantities? On their side? I've got a package going out tomorrow with three of them.
