What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (8 Viewers)

I'm having a nice, refreshing 22 oz Alesmith IPA. The 7.25% alchohol is well hidden.

Attractive orange hue.

Nice head.

Perfect bouquet. Seriously.

Well balanced beer. Its a winner.

I've got 85% of this beer left and I'm pretty happy about it.

By the way, here's a great link for the Great American Beer medals awarded in 2005

Who knew Santa Barbera brewco was voted best IPA?

From what I've heard about Alesmith...all I got to say is :FINGER: :D

cerveza Sol. It pVVns Corona

Ive come along way in a year!!! :banned:

** and its still true. Sol does indeed own Corona.
Actually, it's been nearly two years, my beer trading friend.
 Youre right....but only a year since I started drinking craft/micro....Last year St Pattys day I started on Guinness, and that was my gateway beer. A few weeks after that I had a SNPA and thats all she wrote. In fact, the day I tried a SNPA for the first time, I found and joined BA. I waited a few months before I started reviewing, but I made sure SNPA was my 1st review.

I remember my breaking point too...I was a freshman in college at Humboldt St in the northern most part of California. It was 1992 and someone gave me a Pete's Wicked (before the brewery was bought and the brewery was reconfigured). :excited: What a beer! I had never had anything like it. It was all downhill from there.

For some reason at parties, all the kegs were good beer and the worst keg we ever drank was Henry Weinhards. I don't know how they afforded it, but they did. The breweries in the area we had were phenomenal. Lost Coast, Humboldt, Mad River...we drank good. All the Downtown Brown, Jamaica Brand Red, Red Nectar, Steelhead Extra...

Tonight I'm going to sample a Dogfish Burton Baton then probably chase it with a Ruination. I also have an Ommegang Rare Vos in the fridge that I might have instead of the Stone. Or maybe some Sierra Summerfest Lager. Or the Raisin D'ete. Crap, I could have a Drake's IPA and I think I have a Full Sail IPA left over from the weekend. If that doesn't work, I could just go with a Hoptown Yeltsin Imperial Stout or Beerman's Barlywine. Oooh, then there is the 90min IPA and another Dogfish or two. And of course SNPA.

I have way too much #### in my fridge right now.

Old? You bet. Craft beer vet? Im workin on it....Whats cool is in this day and age (see: internet), even though Ive only been drinking craft brew for a tad more than a year, Ive been able to score about 50 of the top 100 beers at BA, including almost the entire top 10 in the IPA and DIPA categories...as well as about 150 or so other beers I had no idea existed...mostly thanks to trading... and working in a beer/liquor store helps a bit, too...

When I started drinking/trying GOOD beer, I kept track of every new one for a while, but stopped keeping track at about 170 or so a few months back...I guess Im making up for lost time.

mostly what good i do have is what's been sent to me.. just polished off a bottle of Racer 5. got some Dogfish's in the fridge (Aprihop, a couple 60 Minutes, a 90 Minute), a 6-pack of New Glarus Hearty Hop, couple cans of Guinness ( :bag: ), few bottles of Hoegaarden, a bomber of Rogue Stout, some bottles of Falls Nut Brown Ale, a few bottles of Slab City Stout, a handful of different Goose Islands, a few different Capital Brewery's (a Maibock, an Amber), a bomber of Ommegang, a couple 750s of Fantome (Hiver and Saison)..lots and lots of ####

a bunch more singles that i can't recall off the top of my head.

Humboldt State, along with UC Santa Cruz, typically isn't associated with alcohol as the drug of choice .... That's all I'm going to say about that. [/forrest]Tonight I'm sipping an Arrogant *******. If this isn't the most beautiful beer in a glass, I don't know what is.

You sound like me - all dressed up and nowhere to go. None of my buddies appreciate beer like I do. That's why there's a bunch of High Life in my beer fridge. But it's overshadowed by many others. I've got anywhere from a single to 10 or 12 each of the following beers in my fridge at the moment: DFH 60 min., DFH 90 min. , DFH Aprihop, 2 or 3 of the other DFH beers, SN Celebration Ale, SN Summerfest, SN Bigfoot, Celebrator, St. Bernardus 12, Aventinus, Old Rasputin, Titan IPA, Red Seal Ale, Snake Dog IPA, Yuengling, Abita Christmas Ale, Dale's Pale Ale, and a few others that nobody would care about. It's going to be a very nice spring around here. :banned:

Ummmm.......what?from the BIF thread:

regularguy - Winder, GA

I'm in Georgia, between Atlanta and Athens. Thanks to the high-gravity law being overturned a year or two ago, the selection has increased tremendously. Here's a list of what's available at the best store in Atlanta, namely many Belgians, Rogue, Great Divide, Avery, SN, North Coast, Mendocino, etc. We can NOT get Dogfish Head, Victory, Stone, Three Floyds, etc. just to name a few breweries I'd love to try.
This throws a bit of a monkey wrench into my near future plans.....

I hit the motherload

Went to Plumpjacks Wineshop - as reviewd on SF beer stores on BA. This place is three blocks from my house.

List of Beers I purchased tonight:

AleSmith:

Old Knucklehead Barleywine

Speedway Stout

Wee Heavey Scottish Style Ale

Grand Cru

Hop Devil

no ipa :(

St Berardus:

Abt 12

Russian River:

Temptation

Damnation

Stone:

9th Aniversary Ale

They had the Oaked Double ******* Ale but it was the huge ### bottle, bigger than a magnum - $65

Tonight I'm drinking the Full Sale Slipknot Imperial IPA Brewmaster Reserve 2006. Phenomenal

Ft. Lauderdale checking in. And a nipply spring break it is. Woo hoo!

Had a Stella Artois for the first time tonight. Not too shabby. I quite liked it. May be turing into a beer snob. Then again. maybe not.

Gonna roll with a straight forward Sam Adams Boston Ale. You can't find the ale out here in sixers, only in these combo boxes. Lots of lager but no ale

I like combo boxes :) . I get scotch ales and black lagers too...and the brown ale which I'm not so hot on. Now if only Jim would put Honey Porters and Cream Stouts in as well.

Sorry, reg. Dogfish is a MUST in my package, and it seems like youve already got some....not that that says anything about where my shipment might be going. Seriously. Hell, you may still make the cut.

Hey its late and Im pretty buzzed...but ya know what would be cool? A FBG beer snob cornhole one of these days....A bunch of us in one place drinking good beer, telling BS stories...

Just thinking out loud here.

Unfortunately, that's the only way to get the Scotch Ale (in combo packs). I think that's true of the Boston Ale too. The cream stout comes in a combo pack. Not sure if it's a 12 or a 6 combo pack. Or it might have been replaced by the black lager. As for Jim's hefe.... :yucky:

Dude, I know you talk a lot of beer around here, but don't you remember I just got back from visiting your area and going to Total Wine which you told me about ??? ;) I most definitely cannot get DFH around here. I did buy some 90 min. and some Aprihop and a couple of other singles, but it won't last long. I don't think I'll be anywhere I can buy more this year. Sooo if I were given the honor of receiving more, I would be :excited: .

:o

Regularguy is gonna go kick his dog after he reads this.
:lmao: I prolly shouldnta told him by posting that, but I figured it would show that until the last few people, its really anybodys guess.

Sorry, reg. Dogfish is a MUST in my package, and it seems like youve already got some....not that that says anything about where my shipment might be going. Seriously. Hell, you may still make the cut.

onlookers: "Is he kidding? Or isnt he?" :stirspot:
 :( :wall: There is no Santa Claus, kids.

cerveza Sol. It pVVns Corona
Bumping Wingnut's first post in this thread.
:lmao:

I went to a beer tasting for Free the Hops in February, which inlcuded many beers that can't be bought in the state of Alabama, and I had my first real experience with good beer. It's going to be hard (98 of the top 100 beers on BA are not available here) for me to acquire a lot of these beers, but I'm determined to try them all. Maybe in a couple of years, I can be a beer snob too. :banned:

Stone:

They had the Oaked Double ******* Ale but it was the huge ### bottle, bigger than a magnum - $65
3 liters - called a "jeroboam"I had an Ommegang Hennepin jeroboam for my wedding... more specifically for on the steps, in front of the chuch, immediatley after the ceremony - good times.

Both Georgia and North Carolina where in your shoes not too long ago. Just make sure to plan your vacations in places that sell good beer. When NC was under the 6% cap, I would find excuses to drive to neighboring states and pick up some good beer (I also let my congressman know that i was spending money out of state that could have been spent at home). Hopefully the Free the Hops movement can make a difference. Tell everyone you know in Alabama about it.

I'm planning a trip to Nashville pretty soon, so hopefully, I can find some good stuff there. I'm also getting on my friends nerves by giving them a list of beers to find when they travel too.

I know that Stone and Dogfish distribute to Nashville. You can use Beer Advocate to find some good beer stores. Last time I was in Nashville I had a couple beers at Boscos which is a brew pub. Pretty good stuff.

Wow, no one really drinking tonight? Wingnut, Skylord and Fro must all be at the bar.

Anyways, I am having some of the Mendocino White Hawk IPA. :banned:
