I thought the same thing. Not bad at all.The term 'Imperial Pilsner' makes me laugh. Still, I'd like to try one.
:lucky:It's like Christmas in April for you.A trade package came today with a couple of surprises...I scored some more Dreadnaught, and the guy threw in a Bells Third Coast Old Ale (9% ABV), and a Dark Horse Brewing Double Crooked Tree IPA (13.6% ABV)

Having one now.The term 'Imperial Pilsner' makes me laugh. Still, I'd like to try one.
How crazy is that - DFH makes a medicore Pale Ale, yet their IPAs are among the best.SN Summerfest - I just found a new summer brew! Balanced, crisp. Yummy.
DFH Pale Ale - acceptable, but not as good as SN or Flying dog.
Im a fan of Yeungling. Id choose it over any Bud, Miller, or Coors beer anyday.yeungling lager. Dad brought me back some for DC. Meh.
I agree about DFH regarding their IPAs. The rest of the beers you sent to me were good, but nothing I would consider excellent like the 90 min. I was disappointed with Burton Baton.Summerfest is good for what it is. It's a light (by Sierra Nevada standards) lager, but it's nice as kick back and have a brew beer. How crazy is that - DFH makes a medicore Pale Ale, yet their IPAs are among the best.SN Summerfest - I just found a new summer brew! Howd you like the Indian Brown and Raison? The IBA is pretty good, and the Raison is decent in a pinch but not up to par as far as good Belgians go. I forgot about the Indian Brown. I really liked it a lot, even though I'm not a huge fan of the style. Funny story, I wasn't expecting to like it, so I just popped it during a movie and wasn't worried about a review. Needless to say, I was surprised. Excellent beer. Dogfish did well with that one. I wouldn't mind having another one of two of those. The Raisin, meh, OK. I was a little biased because I had a Rochefort 10 and Ommegang Rare Vos in the fridge, along with the St. Bernardus beers that you sent. It doesn't compare with any of those.Howd you like the Indian Brown and Raison? The IBA is pretty good, and the Raison is decent in a pinch but not up to par as far as good Belgians go. I liked the Stoudts DIPA. Its different...a bit on the sweet side. But good.Lets see....went to 3 different beer places today...ended up with:
6 pack of Sierra Nevada Sumemrfest
single of Stoudt's Double IPA
single of Stoudt's Fat Dog Stout
single of St Louis Framboise
single of Sierra Nevada IPA
I havent tried any of those yet....also picked up
a few DFH brews (had to restock), and a couple of local brews.
Not sure what to start with
As long as its better than Avery Mephistopheles Stout, which I hated. Its my lowest rated beer so far. Horrible. Almost as sweet as DFH 120min. Wayyyyy over the top.I liked the Stoudts DIPA. I had that at the BA fest. I didn't like it either.I couldn't wait for the Nugget Nectar to chill. Drinking it a bit warm, but that's ok. It's still pretty good. Not quite a crazy hopped up DIPA, it doesn't have the kill your tastebuds hop bang, but damn it does smell incredible. Nice balanced taste. It would be easy to drink a few too many of them.As long as its better than Avery Mephistopheles Stout, which I hated. Its my lowest rated beer so far. Horrible. Almost as sweet as DFH 120min. Well in all fairness, I'm not sure why Celebration is considered a Christmas beer.Abita Christmas Ale. I had a couple of bottles of this from a BOTM club gift from Christmas. They were ignored at the time in favor of Celebration Ale. Decent, drinkable ale if not very memorable. Not sure why this is considered a Christmas beer though.
Point granted. I wish it weren't so maybe they'd sell it year-round.Well in all fairness, I'm not sure why Celebration is considered a Christmas beer.Abita Christmas Ale. I went to a different beer store tonight. They had a 6 pack of Celebration left, which is a nice treat this time of year. Drinking it now.Well in all fairness, I'm not sure why Celebration is considered a Christmas beer.

Can't expect you to read all the posts.look up ^
Still nursing the Oskar Blues Gordon.Didn't see that. I've only had the Gordon on tap and that was over a year ago. I liked it alot at the time. I thought it had a great malt taste that matched up well with the hoppiness of it. I'm working off memory off course. I have some Dale's Pale Ale in the fridge. Still enjoying the Celebration that I got earlier. Didn't think I would see that again.Oh, music + buzz = bliss.
I mentioned Dale's Pale Ale because it is the same brewery. And the funny thing is that I rented Brokeback to watch either tonight or tomorrow.I can remember things like you saying you liked Dales Pale Ale enough to make it your beer of choice for camping. But sometimes I forget ever having a certain beer (works forme)...or watching a movie just a few months before. I've never seen Brokeback Moutain by the way.

Wingnut is....Wingnut.Do we have a list of everyone's BeerAdvocate names? I'd like to read the reviews of my fellow FBG snobs before making trips to the store.
I'm WinstonSmith over there.
2 more days!! Wonder if I'll be able to find it anywhere. I'll be out of town, so I'm feeling my chances aren't too good while I'm gone.Edit: Just checked the distribution list. It won't make it where I'm going...but my normal beer store near my workplace will have it.Mark your calandars
April 17th - Release of Beer Advocate's #2 beer in the world.....
The 2006 Stone Imperial Russian Stout![]()

I'm WinstonSmith over there.I'm GenCornwallis. I haven't reviewed very many beers though. I have a ways to go to get a glass by my name.
There are several online stores with quite a variety. Prices tend to vary, but it is a pretty good way of getting brews you would otherwise be unable to try. New Orleans is actually the same way -- we don't get a lot of the ones I'd like to check out (Dogfish Head, Stone, etc). Fortunately, there are a few good stores which carry some nice Belgians, which are good fodder for trades (just did one with Furley - I sent him some St. Bernardus in exchange for some New Glarus).man this sucks, I finally decide to start trying a wider variety of beer and I've realized that Memphis has almost nothing to offer. Only one small brewery (Bosco's restaurant) and the only place I can find any selection at all is a chain store (World Market), and I've been through most of what they carry already.![]()
Stouts aren't my favorite style, but I've got to get my hands on this one somehow.I told my local beer store owner that he was on the distribution list for Stone Imperial Russian Stout, and he looked at me and said "Really? I didn't know that." What a #######.
Good news though is that he is getting a new cooler to house all the new beers he is getting. I've been on him constantly to get more beers, and I guess a few other regulars have been too. He told me last night that had several beers in the back of his walk-in cooler that he can't display because he has no room. One of them was Moylander.
