What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (1 Viewer)

Two home brews, 2 OB Pizza Port Stouts, Maui Coconut Porter (really, really, loved it. Can't stress that enough. Tried it a year or so ago and wasn't too impressed so never bothered to revisit. Will now always order when it's on tap. Loved it.), Alpine Nelson, sang Paint it Black at Karaoke, Alpine Duet, sang Revolution.

Thanks to those here who have recommended Racer 5. I found a six last night and really enjoyed it. That is a damn nice IPA. I still like 2 Hearted and Founder's Centennial better, but this will definitely be purchased again. As for Victory's Hop Wallop, I was honestly disappointed. Hop Devil was good and Hop Wallop has such a beautiful color and poor, but I found myself wishing I had cracked open another Racer 5. Hopslam it is not.

I take it you're a big Hop Wallop fan?

In a similar vein, Philly beer week is coming up from June 3-12, if anyone is hitting up any of the events.

Im not saying I didn't like it. It was really really good. I just had a bit higher expectations. It just a notch below the top Double IPAs. That said, I did like it better than Lagunitas Hop Stoopid.

I'll be drinking these all weekend.

Depends on how things shake out. Ideally, at least two weeks. SoCal Beer Fest writes itself. Let's do it.

Also, I will post the entire list of what was consumed on Friday and Saturday (and Sunday morning) at some point tonight, hopefully. Unbelievable list...

I had a real amazing weekend: the wife and a couple friends did a tour of Michigan breweries. Within 3 hours are some of the finest craft breweries in the country- all with really fun and lively bars. We went to Jolly Pumpkin, Dark Horse, Bell's, Founders, and New Holland. Drank a ton of good beer. The craft brewery in Michigan is booming. Every brewery we were at was making record profit and rapidly expanding business. Definitely recommend it for anyone in the midwest who likes world class beer.

Where can I get a coaster of Furley? Seriously...
I'll see if I can find the site that did it.
The crowd was clamoring for Mrs. Gator, then you left and came back with a picture of ####### Furley...epic
http://www.artscow.com/photo-gifts/coaster/rubber-coaster-square-161That site had a special for two free coasters. The deal isn't there anymore, but that's the site that did mine.

Awesome tour. Southern Michian is as good as any place in the country right now for great beer. Some buddies are doing approx. this same tour later this summer by bike/camping; I'm hoping to join them but it looks unlikely at the moment due to things beyond my control.

Yep, Michigan beer is amazing right now...enjoying a Bell's Special Double Cream Stout right now and it is near perfection. If you can get to Michigan, I highly recommend it- great time. The best was part was getting great prices on some 6 packs and cases. I am stocked up for a long time now.

That is incredible. Awesome job to get all of those together. Did anything knock your socks off (besides most of them)? Did anything kind of disappoint? Two in particular that really stood out to me - Cascade The Vine and (and it pains me to say this, because I've never once been overly impressed with one of their beers, always way overpriced and overhyped) The Bruery Black Tuesday. The Vine was a white grape sour (IIRC) and was seriously impressive. Black Tuesday was so silky, couldn't really taste the 20% ABV although I wouldn't be able to down a whole 750 mL.A couple of others that were great - Cantillon 50 N -4 E (sour aged in cognac barrels). I'm not sure how old this was, he had been holding onto it for years. Upland Blueberry Lambic was my favorite of theirs, although the Persimmon Lambic (which I missed, somehow) got raves up and down from everyone there - some folks said it was their #1 beer of the whole tasting.Dissident 08 was great, and it was an interesting match with the Dissident 10 (which I've had, courtesy of you). Dissident 10 gets absolutely blown away by Dissident 08, and it's not even close. Dissident 08 was one of the hits of the weekend.Coast JD Blackbeerd was memorable too, as were some of the Dark Lords (06-07? IIRC).I just think it goes to show that you can have these "white whale" beers...Duck Duck Gooze, Isabelle (which was selling for $300 on eBay recently, hence the "we're drinking $600 of beer" comment)....and you can find just as good, if not better, beers from places like Upland and Cascade.

Upland Blueberry Lambic was my favorite of theirs, although the Persimmon Lambic (which I missed, somehow) got raves up and down from everyone there - some folks said it was their #1 beer of the whole tasting.

Dissident 08 was great, and it was an interesting match with the Dissident 10 (which I've had, courtesy of you). Dissident 10 gets absolutely blown away by Dissident 08, and it's not even close. Dissident 08 was one of the hits of the weekend.

Coast JD Blackbeerd was memorable too, as were some of the Dark Lords (06-07? IIRC).

I just think it goes to show that you can have these "white whale" beers...Duck Duck Gooze, Isabelle (which was selling for $300 on eBay recently, hence the "we're drinking $600 of beer" comment)....and you can find just as good, if not better, beers from places like Upland and Cascade.

Those are two of my favorites. Kicking myself for trading a Black Tuesday. Still have one left. Really hope I score tickets to '11. I have a few Vines. You can order direct from Cascade on their website. They are pricey though. Vine and Blackberry have been my clear favorites from them. Really disappointed in Vlad, but it was young. I have another I'm sitting on. The hype and "beers taste better rare" phenomenon is pretty crazy on some of ebay beers. Nuts that someone would actually spend $300 on a bottle. Who are these people?
