What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (3 Viewers)

Its time for the Three Philosophers.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
And you said that you were already drunk...
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I'm a glutton, and the wife is pulling half my weight with the 750ml right now. Pros and cons to having a spouse that drinks beer.

and she's reading this thread right now....

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Me spending more on beer = Her spending more on wine. Difficult to argue this formula. She used to post here quite a bit but has since slowed down. Her interest has peaked since I've been spending so much time in this and the other beer threads.

Tip Top quote on trading:

"I should cool it, but I can't stop".
:lmao:  Its seriously addicting as hell, isnt it?? Ive been going pedal to the metal for about 5 months now and HAVE to stop. I have no choice. But only for a month, then Ill be back in the saddle again. Hey, if you can afford it and truly love it, why even THINK about stopping?? Lifes to short, Man!!!How can you stop, knowing you can get just about ANY beer you want via a trade???? Seriously, I can pick out just about ANY beer on BA and arrange for a trade with little effort within about 24 hours. Its rediculous. :lmao: :lmao: Hey, did you ever think FBG would catapult you into the world of beer trading??? :lmao: Me, neither....My first trade ever was with Max I believe in January....once that 1st package arrived, I was hooked, and I couldnt wait for my next trade. It just snowballed from there  Who woulda thunk that posting at FBG would lead to all this beer?!?!?!?

I agree wif Furley. I wish I had the initiative you guys did. I just buy the best beer that the grocery store has for sale when I go.Just remember, I'm the only person in this thread that's a member of the 101 Club at BB Rovers in Austin.

Doubtful. I'm really just too lazy. One of my best friends is very active in the trading group at BA to the point where he usually has around a hundred beers that he "needs to try" around the house. I tried it a couple times, but it's just too much work.Start lingering around the thread? I was the daddy of this thread about fifty pages ago. I think there's a list of my 50 favorite beers in here somewhere. Or maybe in jwvdcw's thread.

Ok, I think we need yet another spinoff.  It is the idea that Wingnut took the BIF from, Growler it forward.  Either that, or someone that can get Pliny can just trade with me. ;)

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
If it looks like this has wheels, I will organize it. Just need at least a few who would be interested first.
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I wouldn't mind...I have a growler. But I have nowhere to fill it. I got it from Old Dominion Brewing. But they're 3 hours away.

Can anybody get Thomas Hooker beers from Conneticut?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
If Wilked ever comes back around, he probably can. I know that Hooker is distributed in the Boston area.PS, I have a bottle of Thomas Hooker Old Marley Barleywine stashed away right now ...... 4.21 rating on BA. :P

Most breweries will only fill their own growlers, so unless you decided to ship Old Dominion, you'd probably have to buy a a new one anyway.

Agreed. If it makes you feel any better I also have a bottle of the Smuttynose Barleywine (big beer series). :P

The discrepencies between RB and BA are the most glaring when it comes to Barleywines. The ratings are seriously all over the map.

And it was worth the wait...

Having the legendary Dreadnaught and holy #### is it good. To put it into perspective, the Two Hearted was very good but they aren't in the same realm. This is better than Ruination good. This is better than Pliney the Younger good.

Its the best IPA I've ever had, and I don't even think its close. Wow. You don't get to drink a beer everyday that suddenly SHOOTS into your top ten. This one did.

Complexity out of an IPA is rare, but this beer doesn't seem to play by the same rules as everyone else. Layer upon layer of flavors...from the sip to the swallow you have ten good seconds of flavors mixing and melding....

I should have bought more :wall:

Hopefully Randy gets more soon. And since we all love pictures so much, here's what I ordered from Randy in my most recent order.

I agree 100% on the Dreadnaught. It's in a league of its own.

Believe it or not, I think the Goose Island (pictured in Skylord's photo on the left) is nearly as good.

To be fair, it is a fruit beer. Its not a standard quad. The goose Island isn't cold, I don't know what to follow the Dreadnaught with.

All beers for outgoing trades are now in my posession. GOnna pack em up tonight while I drink.....I dunno yet. Something new I think. I might have to try some Jolly Pumpkin Maracaibo Especial.

Dont worry Skylord, your bottle is set aside for your package.

:pickle: Is the Ballast Point cold? I'd be interested to hear what you think of their Big Eye IPA, it gets really good reviews on BA.

True. That is one thing that bugs my about the rating systems on BA and RB. Many beers are put in styles where the shouldn't be. A lot of times there is a serious grey area. IPA/PA is guilty of this a lot. Oh, and why does anybody on earth consider Troegs Nugget Nectar an Amber Ale. That's an IPA if I have ever tasted one (thanks 3c's).

Stone Smoked Porter. Not bad.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Errrr, umm, tell us more.Myself, I'm having a Victory Hop Devil.

A side story, I was at my local beer store and I inquired about Fantome which I haven't seen much of around here. He tells me that they are having problems with the distributor but he has some Fantome Hiver that he had stashed away. I'm going to drink that tomorrow when I am sober.

Funny you mention that, because I asked that same question to the guy at the beer store. He had actually heard of it and anticipates having it in in the next month or so.
