What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (3 Viewers)

Stopped at the liquor outlet on the way home from work and picked up a bunch of loose bottles:

Goose Island Oktoberfest - good, would buy again

Dogfish Head 61 - very nice.

Milk Stout Nitro

Weyerbacher Insanity

Terrapin Liquid Bliss Chocolate Peanut Butter Porter

Riverhorse Lager

Stone Coffee Milk Stout

Stone Go-To IPA

Westbrook one claw, Westbrook ipa, noda hop drop n roll
How's the HDR? Ive heard its top notch....I'll be in Charlotte next weekend and will be stopping at Noda to pick some uo to bring back to FL with me as well as a growler of Gose if they still have it when I get there.
Hop Drop is fantastic. While you are in the neighborhood you may as well hit up Salud bottle shop about a mile south on Davidson St, they may have some stuff you can't find in FL. They also have random beers on tap, it is where I stumbled across a keg of BCBCS back in June.
Cool, thanks, I will check it out, and I can't wait to try HDR. Also, Monday NoDa will have Gordgeous Pumpkin Ale on draft and it will be in bars Tuesday (draft only). Definitely gonna try that one too.
Fresh Hop Drop is great. I know Frugal McDougle's in SC about 20min from Charlotte has Westbrook IPA and Gose as well. The Westbrook gose is much better than NoDa's IMO. Check out Duckworths on Park Rd or Revolution Pizza over in NoDa if need lunch and a large tap list. Growlers Pourhouse in NoDa also fun.

Well my Charlotte trip got postponed, so I'll have to wait on the HDR for now.

In the meantime, I'm having a Brew Bus' Last Stop IPA, brewed by Cigar City. This is a legit beer. I'm adding it to my rotation.

Stone Go-To IPA
Go-To IPA - Very nice session beer. Citrusy, like drinking a glass of grapefruit juice with a bitter hop finish. Would make a good poker night beer.

As Hack would say....."let's get bombed"
What do you think of it?
I enjoy it. I don't really view it as an IPA. Kinda like DFH 120 on a smaller scale....listed as an IPA but I think it's more like a barleywine. This was bottled 3 months ago and hasn't gotten any worse...just gets (arguably) better with age. I've got 1 more 2014 12 oz, probably hold it for another year or so.

Yeah, it's not my favorite Founders. You are right on it not really being an IPA. Btw, I picked up a bottle of that Peach Barrel Aged Kombucha you mentioned from Ypsi. I'm excited to try that.

Yeah that barrel-aged kombucha was good. I'm admittedly not really all that familiar with kombucha so I don't know how it stands up to other ones, but I enjoyed it.

Tried this yesterday for the first time. Stone never disappoints IMO but I wish it had a little more malt backbone. Definitely a great session IPA that can be found anywhere though.

Now I'm feeling it.

:drunk:

Drinking Bells Mars again...it reminds me of Chillwave right now, lots of citrus. I like it even more now than I did yesterday.

Just had some Buffalo Wild Wings mango habanero wings...thought an IPA would cut the heat...holy moley BDubs have turned up the heat on this sauce...it always hurts a little, but these were brutal...the IPA had almost no effect, I had to grab some milk and yogurt to take the heat off...wow...I never had an issue with this sauce before, they must have changed it (its been over a year since I ate there).

Anyway, the IPA was a Happening Now session IPA from Cigar City. Its a collab w/experimental hops, and while it DID cut the heat a little, it didn't cut it enough to make me not whimper in pain. Wow.

The IPA itself is just OK...decent balance but very grassy and bitter, no floral or citrus, which I prefer.

Bought a case of the new fall seasonal from Troegs... Hop Knife Harvest Ale... at 6.8% it could be described as a dryer, lighter Nugget Nectar.

Big fan.

En route to Alpine for IPAs and BBQ. getting Ilove his beers. Should ship out today.
Thanks again. Once I get the shipment, I will post about Round 2 of Beer It Forward.
Link?
I wanted to send the box no strings attached. Ilove wanted to reciprocate, so I said "beer it forward". Before he gets his box I'm going to set up a "contest" to see who gets his box. Recipient will then send one out based on Ilove's rules. We'll see how far it goes.

I kept drinking so will ship out tomorrow.

Awful stuff. Struggling to finish a bottle. Similar to DuClaw's Sweet Baby Jesus, but nowhere near as good.

Stegmaier High Dive.

Yeah. Bringin' the local.
where is that brewery?
Wilkes-Barre, PA. It's not really a craft brewery, as far as I can tell.

They put out Stegmaier Gold and Lionshead, which are kinda...well...a Northeast PA staple. Somewhere along the lines of PBR. It's difficult to qualify.

Here's the thing: They also do seasonals under the Stegmaier name. And some of their seasonals are AWESOME.

Last year's Pumpkin Ale was just ridiculous. It was as good as some of the Post Road, Lakefront, and Harpoon stuff that I had, for half the price. Their IPA this spring was similarly good.

The High Dive is a wheat, and it's neither great nor awful. So it's good for a Wednesday.

Oh, Lionshead, ok. I thought Lionshead was the name of the brewery actually. Interesting.

They're more or less synonymous.
