What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (1 Viewer)

I want a Westy. :(
Getting a Westy is right up there with 'what would you do for a million dollars'. I would give up a finger, go gay, eat worms. Whatever it takes.
There is a thread around here where I said that I would bend over for it. Skylord's writeup doesn't help.

It better be coming out of a glass, hillbilly.
Tip top is lucky enough to have it on tap in his house. I'm seriously considering moving to his neighborhood.
No doubt. That bastage!!!!Then again, I can get DFH 60 and 90 kegs down here
If I drive an hour, I can get Pliney kegs. :D
:finger:
Hey Wingnut, what did you think of the El Toro IPA?
Havent had the El Toro IPA yet. I though Fro was sending me one but it was the Poppy Jasper Amber instead. .....or wait - did you send me an El Toro IPA?? If so, Im sure I commented on it in this tread, but I dont think Ive got my hands on one yet...

No, I didn't send one. I can't get it here. Got one via trade a couple of months ago. Very good.

Its on my list for when I start trading again. For now, Ive got about 20 bombers, a few 750mls and about a case of 12ozers that are all pretty much new to me to try over the next month...Its gonna be a good month!!!! Im gonna try to review the better ones but who knows....Ill prolly just drink em and keep my comments/reviews here. :banned:

Tasting the Bernardus next to the Westy was a mistake. All it did was show the limitations and weaknesses of the Bernardus, which I didn't know it had. But when I put them side by side, it was clear as day. Not even close, not even in the same ball park. These aren't anywhere on the same level. But the Bernardus is a great beer, is the Westy really that good?

YES.

Stop at nothing to get this beer.
Just delete this post. Seriously, I didn't want to know this. I was perfectly content with sipping my Abt 12's in blissful ignorance. Now you have ruined that for me. Thanks a lot, buddy
:goodposting:

Good time at the beer fest yesterday. Tried/sampled many beers. Maybe too many. I'll try to post a list later. Nothing out of this world though.

I didn't know Fro was going to be there. :fro:

Had some buddies over for cards last night. Drank some Dale's Pale Ale & finished up with a DFH 90 minute.

I made the hour drive to Green's in Atlanta yesterday and spent too much money. I picked up a variety of bombers including several that I've never had before - Thomas Hooker Liberator, Hop Meadow IPA, Old Marley Barleywine (no porter, Skylord), Three Philosophers, Maharaja, and one more that I was surprised to find and will likely include in my BIF package. Threw in some Hercules and Old Ruffian to get a case discount.

I have really need to quit buying beer for awhile.

last nite i drank (in order):

Tyranena Stone Tepee Pale Ale

Bell's Two Hearted Ale

New Glarus Spotted Cow

and i have to say.. i really really liked the Stone Tepee. more even than the Two Hearted Ale. it doesn't score as high as the Two Hearted, but it fit my palate.

from my limited experience so far.. i've kinda been scared off from the "big" hop beers. but have liked the more mild ones.. dunno how many of you have had the Stone Tepee, but it's damned nice.

very easy to drink. definitely a beer you could drink all nite long.

don't get me wrong, the Bell's was great too.. but in a different way. personally i couldn't drink more than a couple (i don't think) in one sitting.

the Spotted Cow, well, it's the Spotted Cow. it's not mind blowing or anything. just a good, smooth, easy drinker. nice summer beer.

That Tyranena beer only has 15 reviews on BA. That brewery doesn't distribute very much outside of Wisconsin, apparently. Too bad.

that is too bad

from what i've gathered so far it doesn't sound like ANY of the WI brewers distribute outside of the state (Miller notwithstanding)

hell, even Tip Top and bax have to cross the river to get some.

i'd review it on the BA but i don't feel like embarrassing myself any further with my crappy reviews :bag:

Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale.

Little out of season but sure sounded good. Need to make sure these other five make it till atleast winter beer season so I can side by side the '05 & '06

:D , I was just going to post the exact same thing. I'm drinking Celebration Ale as well. I bought a case of it for Christmas and this is the last one. Still damn good though. :banned:

Having a Cantillon Vigneronne (blended lambic brewed with Italian muscat grapes). Can't comment on this just yet, my mouth is still in shock and awe.

Well?
Good. Not as complex as I was hoping. Muscat grapes were fairly muted. Very good lambic but I was hoping for something more. 3.65

More Hopdevil tonight. Want to finish this keg off so I can get something new. :)
Whats next? What are your options?
Trying to decide. I would like to get something I haven't had on tap at home before, but not sure what I can get in kegs. I have had Two Hearted at home once before. Current candidates are:Great Divide Titan IPA

Hazed and Infused

Sierra Nevada Pale Ale

Two Hearted

Anchor Liberty Ale

something by Unibroue

The only ones I know for sure that I can get are Sierra Nevada and Two Hearted.

I would be surprised if I can't get Hazed and Infused and Liberty. Not a clue about the others. Opinions welcome and if bax reads this I know he will have input since he drinks here once a week.

Me personally, Id love to have Titan on tap. Other 2 choices, in order would be Two Hearted, then H&I.

I am going to ask my beer guy about Hercules too. That would be too good to be true. :banned:

I think Unibroue would be too much after a while. I'd go with the Titan or Liberty ale

I'd go with Titan. One of my favorite IPAs out there. Speaking of which, Titan used to be available at Bevmo stores in the Sacramento area, but now all they have is Great Divide's Pale Ale. WTF? That pisses me off.

You think that's bad, check this out.The local distributor for Stone stopped carrying it

(or went out of business - can't remember which).

Bottom line - you can get Stone brews in:

ARIZONA

NEVADA

NEW MEXICO

TEXAS

OREGON

WASHINGTON

IDAHO

COLORADO

TENNESSEE

KENTUCKY

OHIO

INDIANA

PENNSYLVANIA

VIRGINIA / D.C.

NEW JERSEY

NEW YORK

MASSACHUSETTS

& ALASKA

but not ANYWHERE in Monterey County*

*parts of which are less than 6 hours from the brewery!!!

:hot:

seriously.. there have been times when i'm drinking a Tyranena, or a New Glarus, or a Falls, or something else local that i think "i'd really like to send a bottle of this to some of the FBG's"then i realize it'd cost me $10 to ship a single bottle.. :wall:

If it makes you feel any better, shipping 6 would only be a few pennies more.
