What kind of beer is everyone drinking tonight? (1 Viewer)

Been out of town for 10 days. So glad I had a couple Nelsons in the fridge waiting for me. When I came back to town I used to see the ocean from the top of the hill on the road from the airport and know I was home. Now, drinking a Nelson does it. Nothing better.

Pipeworks Raspberry Truffle Abduction
Did they release more or was this something you were cellaring?
Cellaring sounds like serious business. I would say it is one that I had in my fridge for awhile.Citra Ninja is coming up in the next release.
lol, well you knew what I meant. Looking forward to the next time that is released.I love Citra Ninja but would welcome another Nelson release in the next 45 days.
I know. Was just being a smartass. It is very tasty.

I agree on the nelson. Big fan. Saving my last one for when I dry hop my homebrew in a week or so with nelson.

Did you see they are doing a sorachi ace vs nelson? That should be interesting.
I didn't, when is that supposed to be released? Sounds very interesting. I've been drinking a bunch of Hey Carefule Man....I really like it.

And I struck out on Crimson Snapper my guy told his employees to not put it out on Monday when it got there....well they put it out and it was gone before he got there on Tuesday :kicksrock:

Just smashed up 4 beers from the Dieu Du Ciel Microbrasserie in Montreal.

Praised this place before, but I gotta be serious... Outside of a few gems in Belgium, few places are as good as this place. Really original and dark/earthy stuff.

soltice d'hiver

rigor mortis

rosee hibiscus (daaaaaaaaaaaaamn good, but a lil fruity)

peche mortel (always, alllllllways)

So good. Please go.
It doesn't get a ton of publicity in the US, but Dieu du Ciel is really a fantastic brewery. I think the stuff can be tough to find sometimes depending on where you are in the US, but we're lucky enough to always have it on the shelves. Peche Mortel is absolutely world class.

Sweet Repute sounds up my alley. My Founders hookup dropped the ball on that bottle release. The regular one anyone. XXX I bet is even better.

It is really good. Not a beer style I normally drink much, but aged in bourbon and maple and then maple again adds so much to the beer. It's oustanding. That said, I'm now back to CBS.

Wheat Wines are really hit and miss for me. The first one I remember having was the 2009 Founders Nemesis. It made me think Wheat Wines were a new favorite style of mine. I loved it. Then it took years for me to find another one I liked. Bummed I missed this. Hopefully they bottled it again.

And I think I still have one last Nemesis left....

It's been a long time since I had the Nemesis, but from what I remember, Sweet Repute is really similar to Nemesis but aged in a blend of bourbon and maple barrels. If I could send you some I would.

The bottle on the 09 calls it a maple bourbon barrel aged wheat wine, so it probably is very similar if not the same recipe. My last check in said I was going to age my last one another 5yrs. I now need to forgot all about it before I go digging for it and drinking it.

Here is my pic when I drank it.

food was meh.

Need a recommendation or 2...

Gonna be in Ft Myers Florida for a week coming up. I went no alcohol this January (along with a very strict diet) but I'm calling off the restrictions for vacation.

Any local beers I should sample? Any regional beers (Tampa, Orlando, South Florida) that I could get on tap in Ft Myers or Naples I should keep my eyes open for?

Look for ABC liquor stores, they'll be your best best. There's some in both Ft Myers and Naples.Cigar City, Brew Bus, JDubs, TBBC Reef Donkey APA, maybe some SwampHead or Big Storm...not sure if any Orlando or East coast beers are down that far (Due South, Funky Buddha, etc)

I go to the Naples ABC once a year when visiting my mother (makes it bearable). They have a good selection of craft brews there for sure.

For someone that is often too impatient to agr many beers, I can definitely say age Backwoods Bastards for a few years. The 2012 is hitting it's stride. Id love to try it next year.

Hamburg OMS (oatmeal stout)

Sam Adams Winter Lager

Ithaca Embrrr

Community Beer Works IPA

Founders Dark Penance

I think this is my last Dark Penance. Still drinking pretty well considering it's an IPA.

SA Rebel

SA Lager

Fireball shot

SA Winter

SA Rebel

Troegs Perpetual

Troegs Perpetual w/Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald

Devils Backbone Wood Aged Kiltflasher

I thought the consensus was that Founders Nemesis went to #### in like 2012?
They scrapped the series after '10 I think. It was always a different beer every year. I'm hoping they liked the '09 enough to make it seasonal as Sweet Repute.
SR was a one time release, but the guys I am talking to that work here are saying almost every old release is being reviewed for a possible rerelease.

Sculpin. Slumming it with the regular. :kicksrock:

Making my version of Judge Smails chili and considering using some of my Pipeworks Chipotle Smoked Porter in it. Most for me, some for the chili.

Drinking some of the Smash Citra I made in Oct or Nov...letting this beer hang out in my closet for a couple of months has turned it into a delicious beer. I was a bit worried about the hops fading, bit they haven't one bit. Good work, me!

I went to a craft beer bar down in Ft. Walton Beach, FL tonight. I was happy to find some tasty treats on tap:

Bourbon County Brand Stout

Sweetwater Hop Hash imperial IPA

Cigar City Fight the Power! sour apple cider

Founders Breakfast Stout

I'm curious how long the BCBS keg has been on. That would probably last a few hours in Denver. I'm the only one that has ordered it all night in the Florida panhandle.

Follow my posts in that thread next time. My version kicks Smails' ###. Also involves lots of beer.

Drinking an Old Fashioned before moving on to beer.
:penalty: :reported:
My bad, I decided for one more before moving to a Zombie Dust, penalty declined????
Ooooooh...it takes a lot to make the refs pick up a flag....but I think a Dust will do it.
I had a nice surprise yesterday, while outside getting prepared for the pending snowfall, my neighbor, who knows I am kind of a beer nerd walks over to me with a bottle in his hand. I looked at the bottle while walking over and noticed it was a Zombie Dust. He works out in downtown Chicago and stated co-worker gets a case of this and gives my neighbor a 6 pack. He stated he has enough and wanted to see if I wanted a bottle. I am getting on his list to get a 6 pack at the least if not a case.

Going Firestone Walker Hoppy Pils for the Super Bowl, also have some Union Jack but saving that for post game in the hot tub with a victory cigar after the Pats finish their business tonight.

Is yours award winning? Mine is.

I am curious to see what your interpretation of a legend looks like so I will check it out.

Anyway - back to beer. The chipotle smoked porter was interesting. Spicier than expected which was kind of cool.

Award winning? It's mother ####### undefeated.

In my 3-5 people cook-offs over the years. Is your version posted in there?

Went with a combination of Sculpin, Ruination, and Knee Deep's Simtra triple IPA last night (shots of whiskey and fernet too). Woke up this morning to an empty bag of popcorn on my couch and a vague memory of debating with myself about whether or not I should #### this larger girl at the bar.
