Beers I'm pretty sure you have access to that compare (yes, Yeti is great):

Ten Fidy

Old Rasputin

Stone Imperial Russian Stout (comes out every April)

Founders Imperial Stout

If you like coffee in your beer like the Expresso Yeti, Look for Founders Breakfast Stout.

That's off the top of my head. Look for local breweries. You probably have some great stout around I've never heard of.

thanks sebowski.

I have not been able to find the founders which is 1 I was going to try. I will look for the others you mentioned above as well. it stinks paying $8-10 a bottle and not liking it, hence asking for the knowledge here.

Other beers distributed to charlotte/Huntersville area, but not sure what total wine has:

- olde hickory event horizon

- duclaw retribution

- olde hickory imperial stout

- brooklyn chocolate stout

- brooklyn black ops

- bunch of different evil twin stouts

Long night last night....

Community Beer Works That IPA

Lagunitas Czech Pils

Founders Dry Hopped Pale Ale (nitro)

Krombacher Schwarzbier

Ommegang Abbey Ale

Founders Breakfast Stout

Ballast Point Tongue Buckler

The middle 5 were part of a small tasting event at a local bar for, how should I put this....beer noobs.....that I went to with a couple of friends.

I had a few Proclamation Ales yesterday which is from a small RI brewery that is 10 minutes from my house...it is a 1.5 IPA and excellent.

At home I've been on a big Firestone Walker kick...really digging their IPA, Pale Ale and Hoppy Pils. Great brewery.

Sculpin

Sculpin grapefruit

Dorado

Green Bullett

Palate wrecker

Hopparillo triple IPA ( top 5 beer IMO)

Figueroa Mtn Lizard mouth IIPA

Funny that Firestone is so popular now, it's local and I still think of most of there beer as meh. Love wooky, Merlin, and union.

thanks palmer. I'm sure i'll be able to find a couple with both lists.

Bud Light...but only because the gas station was out of Miller Lite.

ETA: And this is the first time I've noticed that they spell Lite/Light differently. I'll be darned.

At Three Palms brewing in Tampa having a daytime flight:

Cherry Lime Florida Weiss

Caramel Apple Stout

Smoked Pepper Kumquat Ale

Galaxy Rye IPA

These guys make some interesting beers.

Holy hell...just tried their Coconut Vanilla Nitro stout...wow, this makes NoDas CocoLoco taste bland...huge coconut and vanilla flavors...

Then I tried the Hot Schtuff RIS (w/brown sugar, cinnamon and ghost peppers)...WOW. Sweet up front with a spicy kick wayyyy on the back end. Fantastic stuff.

So AB is interested in buying out Cigar City...the rumor here is Joe Render is considering it...I don't believe it for a second. Render won't sell out IMO. He's been talking about leaving FL but there's no way he sells out to AB. No way. If he does, it would be a sad sad day for craft beer.

I can't believe he would turn it down. Obviously AB will ruin the name like they did with Goose Island. Hard not to turn that kind of money down, just open another brewery in 3-5 years, based on the agreement. It would be a sad day for CC fans.

Drinking Saugatuck Neapolitan Stout.

So I either just had a stroke of genius or a brain fart of epic proportions...

A food truck, but instead of food, you serve craft beer. A craft beer truck. Beer on the move. You show up an events and serve beer...maybe you pair with a local food truck and double team it - eat their food with our beer...and you figure out pairings before you go in...

The rest tape involved might make it a PITA..but I'm onto something here.

But if he sells, the recipes of all the flagship beers go with it...no way they hand over the keys to Jai Alai. This won't happen.

Sure he will lose the recipes, that doesn't stop him with creating new ones though. Tastes evolve over time also. If they come up with an offer he can't refuse, he probably selling unless he is thinking of expanding outside of the Florida market.

Is the Goose Island name really ruined? AB hasn't touched the good beers they make at GI as far as I know. I'm pretty happy buying 750s of Matilda and Sophie at Costco for $5, although i don't know whether AB has anything to do with that.

AB is distributing it, they want to make numbers. I personally think you lose something when its mass-produced. There are too many options in the great lakes area. Founders may find this out if they go national, now that they sold a 30% interest.

:goodposting: We were discussing Rapp vs Westbrook...when out of nowhere he says I'll be right back...and comes back with cans of Westbrook in hand...I of course bought his next beer. So now I have a Westy Gose in my fridge...so stoked!

This Three Palms Galaxy Rye IPA is friggin awesome. A dank bomb. I'd put this on par with 7venth Suns Time Bomb, and maybe a tick higher. Its that good...the only Tampa Bay IPA I'd put above it is Crank.
